B. SOHEINKMAN. SURGEONS INSTRUMENT.
No. 27,065. Patented May 18,1897.
IN VENTOR WITNESSES ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES I E II N A II I) PATENT OFFICE.
DESIGN FOR A SURGEONS INSTRUMENT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,065, dated May 18, 1897. Application filed February 27,1897. Serial No. 625,418. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may (VIII/((37710 lie it known that I, llERxAnuscumxmux, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Surgical Implement; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the saute, reference being bad to the ac eompanying figures of the drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a View in elerat ion showingone side of my design fora surgical implement. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view of Fig. 1, the plane of the section being indicated by dotted lines on said tigure. Fig. 3 is a crossseetional View of Fig. l,taken midway of the ends.
Like letters of reference refer to like parts in the several figures.
The leading feature of my design consists of a body of substantially tubular or hollow cylindrical shape and configuration and open at both ends. One of said openings is substantiallybclln1ontl1edo1funneI-sl1aped,and the other at its edges lying in a slightlycuri'ed surface or plane substantially oblique to the longitudinal axis of the body.
Referring to the drawings, A is the tubular or hollow cylindrical body of the appliance; C, the bell-mouthed or funnel-shaped opening; 1), the opening at the opposite end, the edges of said opening lying substantially in a slightly-curved surface or plane taken approximately oblique to the longitudinal axis of the body. From E to I the exterior outline is on a reverse curve or of ogee shape, as shown. The outline front (I tell isquite like that from E to I, except that. the curvature is less pronounced. The longitudinal curves of the sides are clearly indicated in Fig. 2.
The shape of the longitudinal passage corresponds closely to the external configuration of the body,as indicated in the cross-sectional View. Ilowever, owing to the crescent shape of the right and left hand walls I I,the diameter of the walls being gradually decreased in each direction from I I to .I' and It, the form of the internal sectional opening is slightly lesselliptieal than the external circumference of the body. The walls of the body may be separated or open on the line 13 and the edges lapped one over the other, as shown.
The general shape and con tigu ration of the appliance both externally and internally and at the ends, are clearly indicated by the several figures of the drawings.
\Yhat I claim is The design for a surgical implement substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I allix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
