Be it known that I, FRANCIS lVIIITTAKER, of the city and county of Saint Louis, State of Missouri, have originated and produced a new Design for a Trade-Mark, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making a part of this specification.

My design consists of a five-pointed star, with an illuminated centre, having the initial letter ,W "therein, while beneath the star is a shield with a studded border, having upon its face the motto F1-s Whittaker`s Star Sugar-Cured Hams, St. Louis, Mo., all in combination, and arranged substantially as shown. This is intended to be used as an engraving or as a brand, and when used as the latter the star, shield, and words will have such breaks in them as may he necessary to give the requisite strength to the stencil or other plate by which the impression is. made.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 'lhe design for a trademark, substantially as shown and specified.
