SPECIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 31,1 38,

dated July 4, 1899.

Application filed February 23,1399. sum No. 706,594, Term of potent 14 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HERBERT E. \VHITE, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city of New York, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and useful Dosign for the Following Articles of Manufacture-to wit, Blanks for Expanded Metal Structures-of which the following is :rspecification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, showing a part of such structure embodying my design.

The article of manufacture to which the design is applicable is the blank from which expanded metal structures used for metallic laths and other purposes can be made.

The accompanying drawing shows in face View a portion of the blank to which my design is applied.

The leading feature of my design consists in the form of the slats or strips S and the separating-slits s in relation to the unslittod portion or rib R- and particularly to the staggered or alternating arrnngelnentof the ends a." of the slits s on respective sides of the rib. The sluts S and the separating-slits s are inclined oppositely or sylmnetricelly to the rib R, but their ends are alternated, as is indicated by the short broken horizontal line in the figure, the end of one elit being opposite the space between the two adjacent ends on the opposite side of the rib R.

What I claim, and desire to secure by these Letters Patent, is-

The design for the following article of man nfacture, to wit: a. blank for expanded mcial structures as shown and described.
