(A licutio 1e UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LYNN W. SIPLE, OF CHEROKEE, IOWA.
DESIGN FOR A KNIFE AND KNIFE-BLOCK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,436, dated April 30, 1901.
Application filed March 20, 1901. Serial No. 52,113. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LYNN W. SIPLE, of Cherokee, county of Cherokee, and State of Iowa, have invented a new and useful Design for a Knife and Knife-Block, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to a design embodied in that type of tube-cutters which operate to sever a tube from the inside, and consisting of a mandrel or body adapted to be inserted in the tube to be severed and provided with a radial1y-n1ovable knife-block carrying a knife, which by the rotation of the mandrel is adapted to be projected and sever the tube.
The invention has reference more particularly to the form and configuration of the radially-movable knife and knife-block as represented in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the knifeblock and knife. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is a sectional View.
The essential or leading features of my design are the rectangular or cube-like body 1, with the retreating front face 2 and the flat projecting portion 3, forming an upward continuation of the front face of the body. The projection 3 is pointed at its extreme upper end, as at 4, and inclines outward and downward and joins the body portion at the outer sides of the same, the sides 5 of the projection being parallel to each other audits sloping edges 6 forming planes at right angles to the planes of its parallel sides. The upper surface of the body, in rear of the projection, curves upward at its center, at 7, while the front face of the body retreats in a horizontal line at its center, forming the recess 8.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat'- ent, is-
The design for a knife and knife-block as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand, this 26th day of February, A. D. 1901, in the presence of two attesting witnesses.
LYNN W. SIPLE.
