DESIGN FOR A FIREPLACE-FRONT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,384, dated December 3, 1901.
Application filed October 19, 1901. Serial No- 79,310. Term of patent 3% years.
To (tZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD T. SCHOON- MAKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fordham, in the county of New York 5 and State of New York, have invented and Qn'oduced a certain new and original Design for Fireplacehronts, (Case 13,) of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to what is known on the market as a fireplace-front.
In the accompanyingdrawing, formingpart of this specification, the invention is illustrated in front elevation.
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material feature of my design consists of a frame the sides of which are provided in high relief with bulb-like foliation, having a central stem projecting above it with lateral 2a branches, and a central oval figure having a border of beads and a center representing a fleur-de-lis, above which is alaterally-extending ribbon and a conventionalized fan-like trefoil. The crosspiece has a center-piece a5 composed of a conventionalized ancient galley surmounted by eagles heads and flanked by leafy branches. The corners are ornamented with suspended casket-like figures with surrounding flowing ribbons or streamers. The molding is composed of reeds alter- 3o hating with couplets of beads. The center or summer front has a molding of reeds bound with ribbons with indented corners in which are stars surrounded by circles of beads, and within this molding is a reproduction of a well-known work of art. The molding in this summer-front or center-piece is further ornamented on each side by intertwin ed leafy branches and ribbons or streamers. The background of the sides and so 0 much of the center-piece as contains the intertwined leafy branches is stippled or has a granular appearance.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a fireplace-front, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 14th day of October, A. D. 1901.
