FRANCIS (J. VAN HORN, OF CAMDEN, NEW JERSEY.
Design No. 4,610, dated January 24, 1871.
DESIGN FOR A BED-QUILT.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent; and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Framers G. VAN H01iN,ofthe city and county of Camden, in the State of New J orsoy, have invented and produced a. new and original Design for Bed-Quilts, of which the following is a specification.
My design consists in wearing or printing the body or center of the quilt in squares or checks of equal size but alternately of difi'erent colors, so that each square maybe different in color from the squares which surround it; and in surrounding the quilt with a border of alternately-colored rectangles, some of which are of a length greater than their width.
The accompanying drawing shows one corner of a quilt constructed according to my design, A A being the center checks and B B the border.
It is obvious that my design might be woven or printed in various colors.
I claim as my invention- The design for a bed-quilt, shown in the accompanying drawing, consisting of the combination of central squares of uniform size and of alternately-different colors, with rectangular border-checks of different widths.
In testimoi'iy whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name.
F. G. VAN HORN.
