D 532 OR D 5 744 [DESIGN.]

5,744 Beer PatentedApril2,i872.

Specification forming part of Design No. 5,744, dated April 2, 1872.

To all whom i t may concern:

Be it known that I, J. H. HOBBS, ofWheeling, in the county of Ohio and State of West Virginia, have invented a new and original Design of Beer-Mug; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 of the drawing is a representation of my design for beer-mugs.

My invention has relation to a novel design for ale or beer glasses, the nature of which is clearly shown in the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.

The glass to which my design has reference is in general contour vase-shaped. The upper part of the glass is cylindrical or nearly so. From the cylindrical part the sides of the glass take a. long curve, which terminates at the base. This curve becomes more abrupt toward the base than toward the upper part, and renders the glass narrowest at a point about one-third its height, thus enabling it to be easily held in the hand. The curved surface of the glass is formed, as shown, with longitudinal panels, a. The mouth and base of the glass are equal in diameter.

\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for beer or ale glasses, substantially as described and shown.

In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
