The embodiments of the claimed financial transaction card with stake as illustrated herein include a first portion and a second portion, which can be broken off or otherwise separated from the first portion. The first portion is useful as a gift card, credit card, debit card, or other card adapted for access to a financial account or record, for example, a card that can be recharged or “reloaded” at the direction of a user of the card. In one embodiment, the second portion is useful as a ground stake, for example, to mark where a plant has been planted in the ground or in a pot.
