DESIGN FOR CLOCK-DIALS.

[Term of Patent 14 yeara] T0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GAZZAM GANO, of Gincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have invented a new Design for Dials for Clocks or XVatchee, of which the following is a specification:
The subject of my design is a dial for timepieces, illustrated with pictorial scenes or representations appropriate to the hour or period of the day or night which may be indicated by that part of the dial.
1n the accompanying representation of a clock-dial illustrating my invention, I have shown the interior portion of the dial divided into six sections, each containing a picture appropriate to the hour ot' the day or night where it is located, and I have arranged them alternately for theday and night. For example, the section, the center ot' which is opposite the ligure l represents a dark night scene; that extending from 2 to 4, with its center opposite the figure 3, an afternoon scene; that extending from 4 to (i, with its center opposite figure 5, an early morning scene; that from 6 to 8, with its center opposite 7, a twilight scene; that from 8 to 10, with its center opposite 9, a moonlight scene; and that from l0 to 12, with its center opposite 1l, a bright day scene.
It will be seen that my design is not limited to any speciiic pictures, but is applicable to` any pictorial representations on the clock or Watch dial which have a special appropriateness to the hour of the day or night which is indicated on that portion of the dial.
The illustrations may be print-ed, painted, or produced in any preferred manner on metal, paper, or any other substance, and may be applied directly upon the dial itself, or upon paper or other material to he secured upon the dial by cement or other means. They muy be colored in any appropriate manner to render them more attractive.
I claim- A design for dials for time-pieces consisting of illustrations indicating the eti'ects oidili'erent hours of the day or night corresponding with the respective portions ot' the dial, sul stantially as herein shown, or equivalent illustrations having visually the saine effect.
