Abstract

Described is a pile-fabric strip floor-covering for sports surfaces, in particular synthetic-grass surfaces. The floor-covering has a substrate which has apertures in it and is therefore permeable to water. Attached to the substrate are pile elements which form the pile, plus a thick elastic layer of plastic material on the underside of the substrate. To increase the water-retention capacity of the floor-covering, the plastic layer is made of open-cell cellular-plastic material, and there is a storage layer with water-retention properties on the underside of the cellular-plastic layer.

Description

Bodenbelagsbahn für Sportflächen, insbesondere Kunstrasen Floor covering for sports surfaces, especially artificial turf
The invention relates to a floor covering sheet for sports surfaces, in particular an artificial turf, designed as a pile fabric, with a support sheet which has openings and is therefore water-permeable, with pole elements attached to the latter, forming the pole, and with a thick-elastic plastic layer arranged on the underside of the support sheet.
So-called artificial turf has become widely used as floor coverings for sports areas, which are knitted, knitted, woven, woven or tufted textile products in the form of a so-called pile fabric, made from plastic tapes and / or plastic yarns. The pole elements simulating the blades of grass are usually produced from plastic tapes which penetrate the carrier web and in it by means of a textile integration and / or (the latter, in particular in the case of a so-called tufting product) by a partial or full-area back coating of the carrier web by means of a plastic compound are fixed.
Since the requirement is placed in particular on outdoor sports surfaces that the floor covering is permeable to water, the carrier web of known artificial turf has openings, and with a partial back coating the latter does not remove the water permeability of the floor covering. However, floor coverings of the type mentioned at the outset with a full-surface back coating in the form of a thick plastic layer are known, which may be a plastic layer made of closed-cell foam plastic; In order to bring about the water permeability of the floor covering in such a case, the back coating must be perforated. All these known, above-described water-permeable floor coverings have the disadvantage that water susceptible to the surface of the floor covering passes through the floor covering in an uncontrolled and relatively rapid manner and then dries the latter again relatively quickly. It has been shown, however, that the example properties of a floor covering of the type in question, in particular a so-called artificial turf, depend very much on whether the surface of the surface is somewhat damp - the latter leads to much better example properties.
The object of the invention was to create a water-permeable floor covering for sports surfaces, in particular an artificial turf, which is designed as a pile fabric and has essentially the same advantageous properties as the known floor coverings of the type described above, but after moistening, the Floor surface longer than the known floor coverings maintains the desired playing properties.
Starting from a floor covering of the type mentioned at the outset, this object can be achieved according to the invention in that a water reservoir and a layer are provided below the carrier web, the latter accomplishing the return transport of the water from the water reservoir into the upper regions of the floor covering during use of the floor covering. In particular, in order to achieve the object, it is proposed to form the plastic layer of an open-cell foam plastic (for example latex foams, polyurethane foam, foam rubber or the like) in a floor covering web of the type mentioned at the beginning, and a storage layer (for example nonwoven fabrics, Needle felts, heavy fabrics, open-cell foams or the like) with water-storing properties. In the event of rain or a moistening of the floor covering on its upper side, water enters the open-cell foam plastic layer through the openings in the carrier web and from there reaches the storage layer due to the force of gravity and / or a capillary action, which absorbs the water until their storage volume is exhausted; Water that can no longer be stored and accumulates on the surface of the covering emerges from the floor covering downwards through the storage layer and is drained into the substructure or flows laterally on the surface of a water-impermeable substructure. After the rain or the raining of the floor covering, the surface dries z. B. from sun and wind relatively quickly, but when playing the floor covering according to the invention, the open-cell foam plastic is compressed by pressure on the surface of the surface (z. B. by the foot of a player) and thereby the surface of the surface slightly moistened again, so that the desired The sliding effect is restored by a water film (pump and play system). This process is repeated until the storage layer can no longer fill the open-cell foam plastic with capillary water.
Experiments on a sports area covered with the floor covering according to the invention have shown in the summer months in a central European climate that the floor covering according to the invention remains playable for a whole day after being watered once, ie maintains the desired playing properties. Compared to conventional floor coverings, the floor covering according to the invention requires only a third to a quarter of the irrigation water which is otherwise required in order to bring about the same technical playing properties as in the known floor coverings. The storage layer can likewise be an open-cell foam plastic layer, which is why, in the case of a floor covering web according to the invention, the foam plastic layer which brings about the pumping back effect and the storage layer can be of the same type and can even form a single layer. In preferred embodiments of the floor covering according to the invention, however, the storage layer is formed by a nonwoven fabric, which can adhesively store several times its own weight in water. Preference is given to nonwoven fabrics made from a non-rotting material, which of course also applies to all elements of the floor covering according to the invention.
As with known floor coverings, in preferred embodiments of the floor covering according to the invention the pole elements have anchoring feet arranged on the underside of the carrier web, it being particularly advantageous if these lie between the carrier web and the foam plastic layer; In this way, the foam plastic layer, in particular laminated to the back of the support sheet, serves to improve the fixation of the pole elements in the support sheet, and the anchoring feet of the pole elements are covered by the foam plastic layer and the storage layer, so that when the floor covering is laid on a rough base ¬ not subject to the risk of being worn out due to the floor covering being used.
In particular, butadiene styrene is recommended as the plastic for the foam pumping layer which brings about the return pump effect; In order to obtain a floor covering that is simple and completely recyclable, in other preferred embodiments of the floor covering according to the invention, however, the carrier sheet, pole elements, foam plastic layer and storage layer consist of the same plastic. As already mentioned, it is advisable to laminate the open-cell foam plastic layer which brings about the pump-back effect and the storage layer to the back of the carrier web, whereby, however, the type of lamination, in particular by a correspondingly chosen pattern of a connecting layer, ensures It must be ensured that water accumulating on the covering surface can pass through the carrier web, the foam plastic layer and the storage layer.
Further features, advantages and details of the invention emerge from the attached schematic drawing and the following description of a particularly preferred embodiment of a floor covering according to the invention; the drawing shows a section through the tufted floor covering.
The drawing shows a carrier web 10, which is a basic tufting product, in particular a fabric made of plastic tapes. Pole elements 12 are anchored in this, which were introduced into the carrier web 10 by tufts and are formed by plastic tapes. In side view, they are approximately U-shaped and each form an anchoring foot 12a on the underside of the carrier web.
A foam plastic layer 14 is laminated onto the underside of the tufted goods 10, 12, which layer consists of an open-cell foam plastic and is, according to the invention, elastic in thickness. Finally, a fiber fleece layer 16 is laminated to the underside of the foam plastic layer 14, which layer forms the water storage layer according to the invention. The desired storage capacity can be achieved and set by the thickness, density, structure and type of fiber material of the nonwoven layer 16. The pores of the foam plastic layer 14 enable water to be transported by gravity through the foam plastic layer 14 into the fiber fleece layer 16 and as a result of the capillary action or the pumping action from the fiber fleece layer 16 occurring when the floor covering is used, back into the actual artificial turf layer 10 , 12 and in particular through their water-permeable carrier web 10 to the surface of the artificial turf layer. Regarding the water permeability of the carrier web 10, it should also be noted that this can be ensured and adjusted in a variety of ways, for. B. by relatively thick needles in tufting, by the type and density of the textile material used for the production of the carrier web 10, e.g. B. thus by the width of the plastic ribbons used for the production of a fabric and the distances between the warp and weft threads formed by the ribbons from each other and by the type of equipment used for the carrier web material; however, these are known measures, so that a detailed explanation of them is not required.
