本 発 明 は 、 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 用 結 着 剤 お よ び そ れ を 用 い た 電 池 電 極 合 剤 に 関 す る 。 背 景技 術
近年 、 オ ー デ ィ オ テ ー プ レ コ ー ダ 一 、 カ メ ラ 一体型 ビ デ ォ テ ー プ レ コ ー ダ 一 、 ノ ー ト 型 ノ、 ° ソ コ ン 、 携 帯 電話 な ど 小 型 で 携 帯 に 適 し た 電気 · 電 子機器 の 需 要 が 増 大 し て い る 。 こ れ に 伴 っ て 、 小 型 、 軽 量 で 繰 り 返 し 使 用 で き る 高性能 な 二次電池が求 め ら れ 、 従来 の 鉛電池 や 二 ッ ケ ル · 力 ド ニ ゥ ム 電 池以 外 に ニ ッ ケ ル 水素 電 池 ゃ リ チ ウ ム ィ ォ ン 電 池 な ど の 種 々 の 新 し い 電 池 が 商 品 化 さ れ て い る 。 こ の う ち ア ル 力 リ 電解 液 を 用 い た ニ ッ ケ ル 水素 二次 電 池 は 電圧 が 低 く 、 エ ネ ル ギ ー 密 度 も 大 き く で き ず 、 ま た 自 己 放 電 も 大 き い と い う 課題 が 残 っ て い る 。 一 方 、 非 水 電解 液 を 用 い た リ チ ウ ム イ オ ン 二次 電 池 は 、 高 電圧 、 高 エ ネ ル ギ ー 密 度 で 、 自 己 放 電 も 少 な く 、 超 軽量 が 可 能 と い う 長所 を 有 し て お り 、 今 後 大 き な 成長 が 期 待 さ れ る 二次 電 池 で あ る 。
こ の リ チ ウ ム イ オ ン 二次 電 池 の エ ネ ル ギ ー 密 度 向 上 に は 電極作製技 術 が 大 き な ボ イ ン ト と な っ て い る 。 こ の 電 極 に つ い て は 、 た と え ば コ 一 ク ス ゃ 力 一 ボ ン な ど の 炭素 質 材 料 を 負 極 活物 質 と し て 負 極 を 作製 す る ば あ い 、 炭素 質 材料 を 粉 末化 し 、 結 着剤 と と も に 溶 剤 に 分散 さ せ て 負 極合剤 を 調 製 し 、 負 極集電体 に 塗 布 後 、 溶剤 を 乾燥 除去 し 、 圧延す る こ と に よ り え ら れ る 。 な お 、 本 明 細書で は 、 単 に リ チ ウ ム イ オ ン を 吸 蔵放 出 す る に す ぎ な い 炭素質 材 料 も 活物 質 と 称 す る こ と と す る 。 ま た 同 様 に 正 極 は 、 た と え ば リ チ ウ ム 含有 酸 化物 を 正極 活 物 質 と し て こ れ を 粉 末 ィヒ し 、 導 電剤 お よ び 結 着剤 と と も に 溶 剤 に 分 散 さ せ て 正極合 剤 を 調 製 し 、 正極集電体 に 塗 布 後 、 溶 剤 を 乾燥 除 去 し 圧 延 す る こ と に よ り 作製 す る も の で あ る 。 従来 、 こ の リ チ ウ ム イ オ ン 二次 電 池 の 結着 剤 と し て は 、 ポ リ フ ッ ィ匕 ビ 二 リ デ ン 力 よ く 使 用 さ れ て い る 。 た と え ば 特 開 平 4
― 2 4 9 8 5 9 号公報 に は 、 正極活物質 と し て i C 0 0 2 の よ う な リ チ ウ ム 含有 酸 化物 と 導 電剤 と し て の グ ラ フ ァ ィ ト を ポ リ フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン と 混 合 し 作製 し た 正極合剤 を N — メ チ ル ピ ロ リ ド ン に 分散 さ せ て ス ラ リ ー 状 に し た も の を ア ル ミ 箔 の 正極集 電体 に 塗 布 し 、 ま た 負 極 活物 質 と し て の 炭素質 材料 と ポ リ フ ツ イヒ ビ ニ リ デ ン と を 混 合 し 作製 し た 負 極合剤 を N — メ チ ル ピ ロ リ ド ン に 分散 さ せ て ス ラ リ 一 状 に し た も の を 負 極集 電体 で あ る 銅 箔 上 に 塗布 し 、 そ れ ぞ れ 乾燥 後 、 口 一 ラ ー プ レ ス 機 に よ り 圧縮 成形 し て 電極 シ ー ト に カ D ェ す る 技術 が 開 示 さ れ て い る 。 し か し 、 ポ リ フ ッ ィ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン の 溶 剤 は N — メ チ ノレ ピ ロ リ ド ン 、 ジ メ チ ル ホ ル ム ア ミ ド ゃ ジ メ チ ル ァ セ ト ア ミ ド な ど の 沸 点 が 高 く 高 価 な 特殊有機溶 剤 に 限 ら れ 、 そ の た め 電 極 シ ー ト 製 造 時 に 溶 剤 乾燥 に 時 間 が か か つ た り 、 生産 コ ス ト 力 高 く な る と い っ た こ と が あ る 。 ま た 、 ポ リ フ ッ ィ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン は リ チ ウ ム イ オ ン 二次 電 池 に 使 用 さ れ て い る プ ロ ピ レ ン カ ー ボ ネ ー ト 、 エ チ レ ン 力 一 ボ ネ 一 ト 、 ジ ェ チ ノレ カ 一 ボ ネ 一 ト 、 ま た は そ れ ら の 混 合 物 と い っ た 非水 電解液 の 有機 溶媒 に 対 し 膨 潤 し ゃ す い 。 そ の た め 、 充放 電 を 繰 り 返 し て い く う ち に 集 電体 で あ る 金 属 箔 と の 接着 性 が わ る く な り 、 そ の 結 果 電 池 内 部 抵 抗 の 上 昇 が 起 こ り 電 池 性能 が 低下 す る と い う 問 題 が 生 ず る 。 さ ら に 、 ポ リ フ ッ ィヒ ビ 二 リ デ ン 結 着剤 を 使 用 し た 電極 シ ー ト は 柔 軟 性 に 乏 し く 、 角 型 電 池作製 で の 電極 シ 一 卜 を 1 8 0 度 に 折 り 畳 む 工 程 時 や 、 円 筒 型 電 池作製 で の 電極 シ — ト を 小 さ く 丸 め る 工 程 時 に 、 電極 シ ー 卜 か ら 電極 合剤 が 剥 離 す る と い っ た 問 題 が 生 じ や す く 、 生 産 の 歩 留 り が わ る く な つ て い る 。 ま た 、 特 開 平 4 — 9 5 3 6 3 号 公報 で は 、 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 に お け る 充放 電 時 の 正極 活物 質 の 膨 脹 、 収 縮 に 対 し て 結着 性 を も た せ る 目 的 で フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン — へ キ サ フ ル ォ ロ プ ロ ピ レ ン 共 重 合体 、 フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン 一 3 フ ツ イ匕塩ィヒ エ チ レ ン 共 重 合体 と い う フ ッ 素 系 二元 共 重 合体 を 主 成 分 と す る ゴ ム 弾性 を 有 す る 材料 が 結着 剤 と し て 記 載 さ れ て い る 。 し 力、 し 、 こ の よ う な 共 重 合体 は ポ リ フ ッ ィ匕 ビ 二 リ デ ン に 比 ベ 結 晶 性 が わ る く 、 そ の た め ポ リ フ ツ イヒ ビ ニ リ デ ン 以 上 に 非水 電解液 の 有機溶 媒 に 対 し て 膨 潤 し ゃ す く 、 電解液 の 種類 に よ っ て は 溶 出 し て し ま い 結 着 斉 U と し て の 役 目 を 果 た さ な く な る 。 同 様 な 結着 剤 と し て 特 公平 8 — 4 0 0 7 号 公報 に は 、 ポ リ フ ッ 化 ビ 二 リ デ ン の か わ り に 主 と し て フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン 、 テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ レ チ レ ン お よ び へ キ サ フ ル ォ ロ プ ロ ピ レ ン か ら 構成 さ れ る フ ッ 素 系 高 分子共 重 合体 を 結着 剤 に 使 用 す る と い う 内 容 が 記 載 さ れ て い る 。 そ の 請求 の 範 囲 に 記載 さ れ た 共 重 合体 の 組成範 囲 は モ ル 分 率 で フ ツ イヒ ビ ニ リ デ ン が 0 . 3 〜 0 . 9 、 へ キ サ フ ノレ オ 口 プ ロ ピ レ ン 力 0 . 0 3 〜 0 . 5 、 テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン が 0 〜 0 . 5 で 、 こ れ ら 3 つ の モ ノ マ ー の モ ル 分 率 の 合 計 が 0 . 8 0 〜 1 と い う も の で あ る 。 こ の 特 許 に お い て も 、 ポ リ フ ツ イ匕 ビ 二 リ デ ン 力 前述 し た N — メ チ ル ピ ロ リ ド ン 、 ジ メ チ ル ァ セ ト ア ミ ド 、 ジ メ チ ノレ ホ ル ム ア ミ ド ゃ メ チ ル ス ル ホ キ シ ド な ど の よ う な 極性 が 強 く 、 沸 点 が 高 く 、 ま た 中 に は 毒 性 の あ る 特 殊 溶 剤 に し か 溶解 し な い た め 、 該 溶 剤 を 用 い て 活 物 質 を 塗 布 成形 し 電 極 を 製 造 す る 際 、 高 沸 点 溶 剤 の 乾燥 に 時 間 が か 力、 り す ぎ る 、 ま た そ の 毒性 の た め 密 閉 設 備 、 排気 設 備 な ど を 整 備 す る 必 要 が あ る な ど の 製 造工程 上 の 問 題 を 有 し て い る こ と が 指 摘 さ れ て い る 。 そ し て こ の 公報 で は 、 以 上 の 問 題 点 を 解 決 す る た め 、 メ チ ル ェ チ ル ケ ト ン 、 メ チ ル イ ソ ブ チ ノレ ケ ト ン な ど の ケ ト ン 系 、 酢 酸 ェ チ ノレ 、 酢 酸 ブ チ ル な ど の エ ス テ ル 系 さ ら に ジ ォ キ サ ン 、 テ ト ラ ヒ ド ロ フ ラ ン な ど の エ ー テ ル 系 な ど の 低価 格 で 低 沸 点 の 汎 用 有機 溶 剤 、 ま た は そ れ ら の 混 合物 に も 溶 解 す る 前 記 共 重 合体 を 結着剤 に 使 用 す る も の で あ る 。 し か し な 力 ら 、 こ の 共 重 合体 も 基本 的 に は 前述 し た フ ッ 化 ビ ニ リ デ ン — へ キ サ フ ル ォ ロ プ ロ ピ レ ン ニ 元 共 重 合体 や フ ツ イヒ ビ ニ リ デ ン — 3 フ ッ 化塩化 エ チ レ ン 二 元共 重 合体 と 同 じ く 、 非水 電解液 の 有機溶 媒 に 対 し 膨 潤 性 が 大 き い た め 、 電 池 の 長期 使 用 時 に 電極合 剤 の 集 電体 か ら の 剥 離 や 活 物 質 の 脱 落 が 起 き 、 電 池性能 の 低 下 な ど の 問 題 を 生 じ う る 。
さ ら に 特 開 平 7 — 1 4 7 1 5 6 号 公 報 に は ポ リ ア セ ン 系 骨格構造 を 有 す る 不 溶不 融性基体 と 特 定 の バ イ ン ダ ー の 混合層 を 金 属 箔 状 に 接着 し た 電極 を 電極 と し て 用 い る こ と に よ り 、 電 池容 量 が 向 上 す る と し 、 そ の バ イ ン ダ 一 は 、 フ ッ 素 原 子 ノ 炭素 原 子 の 原 子 比 が 1 . 5 未 満 、 0 . 7 5 以 上 の 含 フ ッ 素 系 ポ リ マ 一 で あ る と し て い る 。 し か し 、 具 体 的 に 開 示 さ れ て い る も の は ポ リ フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン の み で 、 ま た 、 た と え ば 該 公 報 記 載 の エ チ レ ン 一 4 フ ッ 化 エ チ レ ン 共 重 合体 、 プ ロ ピ レ ン 一 4 フ ツ イ匕 エ チ レ ン 共 重 合体 は 共 に 有機溶 媒 に 不 溶 で あ り 、 含 フ ッ 素 系 ポ リ マ ー が 完 全 に 溶 解 し て い る こ と が 均 質 な 電 極 を う る う え で 好 ま し い と す る 記 載 よ り 考 え る と バ イ ン ダ 一 と し て 不 適 当 で あ り 、 現 実 性 が な い と 考 え ら れ る 。
本 発 明 の 目 的 は 、 ポ リ フ ッ ィヒ ビ 二 リ デ ン に 比 べ 柔軟 性 力、' あ り 、 従 来 の N — メ チ ル ピ ロ リ ド ン 、 ジ メ チ ル ァ セ ト ア ミ ド 、 ジ メ チ ル ホ ル ム ア ミ ド な ど の 溶 剤 に は も ち ろ ん の こ と 、 ァ セ ト ン ゃ メ チ ル ェ チ ノレ ケ ト ン な ど の 低 沸 点 有 機溶剤 に 可 溶 で あ り 、 ま た 、 前述 の フ ッ 素系 共 重 合体 に 比 べ プ ロ ピ レ ン カ ー ボ ネ ー ト ゃ エ チ レ ン カ ー ボ ネ ー ト 、 ジ ェ チ ル カ 一 ボ ネ ー ト 、 ジ メ ト キ シ ェ タ ン ま た は そ れ ら の 混 合 物 な ど の 非水 電解 液 の 有機溶 媒 に 対 し て 膨 潤 性 の 少 な い 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 用 結 着 剤 お よ び 該結着剤 を 用 い る 電 池 電 極 合剤 を 提供 す る こ と に あ る 。 発 明 の 開 示
本 発 明 者 ら の 研究 に よ れ ば 、 フ ツ イヒ ビ ニ リ デ ン と テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン 力、 ら 主 と し て 構 成 さ れ る 共 重 合体 を 非水電解液二次電池用 結着剤 と し て 使用 す る こ と に よ り 、 製造工程の 簡素化や生産 コ ス 卜 の 削減 が可能 に な る こ と 、 ま た 非水 電解液 に 対 す る 膨 潤 性 が 小 さ く な る た め 電 池性 能 の 向 上 が 計 ら れ る こ と が 見 出 さ れ た 。
す な わ ち 本 発 明 は 、 正極活物 質 と 導 電剤 と 結着剤 よ り な る 正極 合剤 が 正極集 電体 に 保持 さ れ て な る 正極 お よ び / ま た は 負 極 活物 質 と 結 着剤 よ り な る 負 極合剤 が 負 極集 電体 に 保 持 さ れ て な る 負 極 な ら び に 非 水 電解液 を 具備 し て な る 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 に 用 い る 結着 剤 に お い て 、 該 結 着 剤 が フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン 5 0 〜 8 0 モ ル % と テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン 2 0 〜 5 0 モ ル % か ら 構成 さ れ る 二元共 重 合体 か ら な る 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 用 結 着剤 に 関 す る 。

前記共 重 合体 は サ イ ク ル特性 の 向 上 の 点 か ら 分 子量 が 大 き い 方 が よ く 、 た と え ば 三元 以 上 の 共 重 合体 の ば あ い は 数 平均 分 子 量 1 5 0 , 0 0 0 〜 5 0 0 , 0 0 0 で あ る の が 好 ま し い 。
本 発 明 の 結 着剤 は 、 リ チ ウ ム 含有 酸 化物 を 正極 活 物 質 と し て 用 い る ば あ い に 特 に 有 用 で あ る 。

本 発 明 で 用 い る フ ッ 化 ビ 二 リ デ ン 共 重 合 体 は 公 知 の 重 合 方 法 に よ り 重 合 す る こ と が で き 、 そ の う ち で も 主 と し て ラ ジ カ ル 共 重 合 法 が 好 ま し い 。 す な わ ち 重 合 方 法 と し て は 、 ラ ジ カ ル 的 に 進 行 す る も の で あ れ ば 手 段 は 何 ら 制 限 さ れ な い が 、 た と え ば 有 機 も し く は 無 機 の ラ ジ カ ル 重 合 開 始剤 、 熱 、 光 ま た は 電 離放射線 な ど に よ っ て 開 始 さ れ る 。 重 合 の 形 態 も 溶 液 重 合 、 バ ル ク 重 合 、 懸 濁 重 合 、 乳 ィ匕 重 合 な ど を 用 い る こ と が で き る 。
フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン が 5 0 モ ル % よ り 少 な い ば あ い 有 機 溶 剤 全 般 に 対 し て 溶 解 し に く く な る 。 一 方 、 8 0 モ ル 0 /0 よ り 多 い ば あ い は プ ロ ピ レ ン 力 一 ボ ネ 一 ト ゃ エ チ レ ン 力 一 ボ ネ 一 卜 、 ジ エ チ レ ン カ ー ボ ネ ー ト な ど の 電 解 液 に 対 し て 膨 潤 性 が 大 き く な り 、 そ の 結 果 そ れ ら を 結 着 剤 と し て 用 い た 電 池 の 長期使用 や ま た 高 温度 下 で の 連続使 用 時 に 、 合 剤 の 集 電 体 か ら の 剥 離 や 活 物 質 の 脱 落 が 起 こ り 、 電 池 性 能 が 低 下 し て い く 。 さ ら に 8 0 モ ル % よ り 多 い ば あ い は 汎 用 の 低 沸 点 有 機 溶 剤 に 対 す る 溶 解 性 が 悪 く な り 、 N — メ チ ル ピ ロ リ ド ン 、 ジ メ チ ル ホ ル ム ア ミ ド な ど の 特 殊 な 高 沸 点 有 機 溶 剤 を 使 用 せ ざ る を え な く な る た め 、 電 池 製 造 時 に 溶 剤 の 乾 燥 に 時 間 が か か り 、 生 産 効 率 の ア ッ プ 力 で き な く な る 。 ま た 、 え ら れ る 共 重 合体材料 が 硬 く な り 柔 軟 性 に 乏 し い た め 、 電極 シ ー ト の 小 さ な 巻付 け や 折 り 畳 み 加 工 に 限 界 が あ り 、 電 池性能 ア ッ プ に も 支 障 を き た す 。
本 発 明 で 用 い る 二 元 ま た は 三元以 上 の 共 重 合体 の 分子 量 は 、 G P C ( ゲ ル 透 過 ク ロ マ ト グ ラ フ ィ ー ) 測 定 で の 数平均分子量がポ リ ス チ レ ン換算値で 1 0 , 0 0 0 〜 5 0 0 , 0 0 0 の も の が 好 ま し い 。 1 0 , 0 0 0 よ り 小 さ い と 分 子 量 が 低 す ぎ て 成膜 で き ず 、 ま た 5 0 0 , 0 0 0 を 超 え る と 電 極 合 剤 の 擬 似 塑 'I生 ( p s e u d 0 p 1 a s t i c i t y )力 非 常 に 大 き く な り 、 電極集 電体 に 塗 布 す る の が 困 難 と な る 傾 向 が あ る 。 ま た 、 サ イ ク ノレ 特 性 を 向 上 さ せ る た め に は 比 較 的 分 子 量 が 高 い 方 が 好 ま し く 、 こ の 点 か ら た と え ば 三元 以 上 の 共 重 合体 の ば あ い 1 5 0 , 0 0 0 〜 5 0 0 , 0 0 0 の も の が 好 ま し い

前記共 重 合体 を 結 着 剤 と し て 使用 す る ば あ い は 、 該共 重 合体 を 溶 剤 に 溶解 さ せ た 溶 液 に 電極 活物 質 な ど の 電極 材料 を 分散 、 混 合 さ せ る と い っ た 方 法 が 一 般 的 で あ る 。 そ の ほ か 、 た と え ば 共 重 合体粉末 と 電 極 活 物 質 の 粉 末 同 士 を 先 に 混 合 し た 後 、 有機溶 剤 を 添 加 し 合剤 を 作製 し て も よ い 。 ま た 、 共 重 合体 と 電極活 物 質 の 粉 末 同 士 を 加 熱 溶 融 し 、 押 出 成形 機 で 押 し 出 し て 薄膜 の 合剤 を 作製 し て お き 、 電 性接着 剤 や 前 記 汎 用 性 有機 溶 剤 を 塗 布 し た 集 電体上 り 合せ て 電極 シ ー ト を 作製 す る こ と も で き る 。 さ ら に 、 あ ら か じ め 予 備 成形 し た 電極 活 物 質 に 共 重 合体 の 溶 液 を 塗 布 し て も よ い 。 こ の よ う に 、 結着斉 U と し て の 適 用 方法 は 特 に 限 定 さ れ な い 。
と こ ろ で 、 共 重 合体 か ら な る 結 着 剤 を 含 む 合 剤 と 集電 体 と の 接着 性 を 向 上 さ せ る 方法 の 1 つ と し て 、 集 電体 上 に 塗 布 し た 合 剤 塗料 を 結 着 剤 中 の 共 重 合体 の 融 点 以 上 で 乾 燥 処理 す る 方 法 力 あ る 。 し か し 、 従来 の 結 着 剤 で あ る ポ リ フ ッ 化 ビ ニ リ デ ン の ば あ い 、 特 開 平 4 — 2 4 9 8 5 9 号 公 報 に は 比 較 的 高 温 ( 1 7 0 〜 1 8 0 °C 以 上 。 な お ポ リ フ ッ 化 ビ 二 リ デ ン の 一 般 的 な 融 点 は 1 7 5 °C 付近 ) で 合 剤 塗料 の 乾燥 処理 を 施 す と ポ リ フ ッ 化 ビ 二 リ デ ン の 材 質 変 化 が 起 こ り 、 そ の 結 果 、 充放 電 サ イ ク ル 特 性 の 容 量 維持率 が わ る く な る と 記 載 さ れ て い る 。 本 発 明 で 用 い る 前記 共 重 合体 で は 加 熱乾 燥 処理 に よ つ て そ う い つ た 問 題 は 起 こ ら ず 、 目 的 と す る 接着 性 の 向 上 が 認 め ら れ 、 電 池 性能 も 安 定 し て い る 。
本 発 明 の 結 着剤 と し て は 、 さ ら に 接着 性 を 向 上 さ せ る た め 前記 二 元 ま た は 三 元 以 上 の 共 重 合体 に ポ リ メ タ ク リ レ 一 ト 、 ポ リ メ チ ル メ タ ク リ レ ー 卜 、 ポ リ ァ ク リ ロ ニ ト リ ル 、 ポ リ イ ミ ド 、 ポ リ ア ミ ド 、 ポ リ ア ミ ド イ ミ ド 、 ポ リ カ ー ボ ネ ― ト な ど の 樹 脂 が 含 ま れ る も の で も よ い 力 、 こ れ ら 樹 脂 の 結着剤 中 に お け る 含 有 量 は 約 2 0 体 積 % 以 下 で あ る の が 好 ま し い 。
本発 明 の 結 着剤 を 適 用 す る 対象 と な る 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 は 、 正極 活物 質 と 導 電剤 と 結着 剤 よ り な る 正極合剤 が 正極 体 に 保持 さ れ て な る 正極 、 負 極 活物 質 と 結着 剤 よ り な る 負極合剤 が 負 極集電体 に 保持 さ れ て な る 負 極、 お よ び 非 水 電解液 を 備 え て い る 。
本 発 明 は ま た 、 前記 結着 剤 と 他 の 電極 材料 と か ら な る 電 池 電極 合 剤 に 関 す る 。 他 の 電極材料 と し て は 以 下 に 示 す 正極 活 物 質 、 負 極 活物 質 お よ び 導 電 剤 が あ る 。

負 極 活 物 質 と し て カ ー ボ ン ブ ラ ッ ク 6 0 重量部 と 、 結 着剤 と し て実施例 1 (二元) 、 実施例 4 〜 6 お よ び 9 (三 元 ) の 共 重 合体 ま た は 比較 例 3 の ポ リ フ ツ イヒ ビ ニ リ デ ン を そ れ ぞ れ 5 重量部 と 、 溶 剤 と し て N — メ チ ノレ ピ ロ リ ド ン ま た は メ チ ノレ エ チ ノレ ケ ト ン ま た は テ ト ラ ヒ ド ロ フ ラ ン 3 5 重量 部 を ボ ー ル ミ ル を 用 い て 1 0 時 間 混 合 し 、 負 極 合 剤 を 調 製 し た 。 こ の 合 剤 を 負 極集 電体 と な る 厚 さ 1 0 m の 銅 箔 の 両 面 に 乾 燥 後 の 厚 さ が 1 0 0 m に な る よ う に 塗 布 し 、 最終 的 に 1 2 0 °C で 乾燥 後 、 圧延処 理 し て 帯 状 負 極 を 作製 し た 。

特 開 平 7 - 2 0 1 3 1 6 号 公報 に 記 載 さ れ て い る 方法 に 準 じ m §ύ の よ う に 作製 し た 帯 状 負 極 お よ び 帯 状正極 を 用 い て 電 池 を 作製 し た 。
す な わ ち 、 前記帯状正極 、 帯 状 負 極 を セ ノ、° レ ー タ と な る 厚 さ 2 5 u m の ポ リ プ ロ ピ レ ン 製 フ ィ ル ム を 介 し て 積 層 し 、 こ れ を 多 数 回 巻 回 す る こ と で 、 外 形 1 8 m m の 渦 巻 ¾極体 を 作製 し た 。 そ し て 、 こ の 渦 巻 電極体 を 二 ッ ケ ル メ ッ キ が 施 さ れ た 鉄 製 電 池缶 に 収納 し 、 こ の 渦 巻電極 体 の 上下 に 絶縁板 を 設 置 し た 。 そ し て 、 ァ ノレ ミ ニ ゥ ム 製 正極 リ — ド を 正極集電体 か ら 導 出 し て 電 池蓋 に 溶 接 し 、 ニ ッ ケ ル 製 負 極 リ 一 ド を 負 極集 電体 か ら 導 出 し て 電 池缶 に 溶 接 し た 。
こ の 渦 巻 電極体 が 収納 さ れ た 電 池 缶 の 中 に 、 ェ チ レ ン 力 一 ボ ネ 一 卜 と ジ ェ チ ル カ 一 ボ ネ ー 卜 が 体 積 比 1 : 1 で 混合 さ れ た 混合溶媒 に L i P F 6を 1 モ ル Z リ ッ 卜 ル な る 濃 度 で 溶解 し た 非 水 電解 液 を 注入 し た 。 そ し て 、 !¾ 流遮 断機構 を 有 す る 安全 弁装 置 、 電 池蓋 を 電 池 缶 に ァ ス フ ァ ル ト で 表 面 を 塗 布 し た 絶縁封 口 ガ ス ケ ッ ト を 介 し て カヽ し め る こ と で 固 定 し 、 直 径 1 8 m m 、 高 さ 6 5 m m の 円 筒 型 の 非 水 電解液 を 用 い た 二次 電 池 を 作製 し た ( 表 4 に 電 池 A 〜 P と し て 示 す ) 。
こ の よ う に し て 作製 さ れ た 非 水 電 解液 二次 電 池 に つ い て 、 室 温下 、 最大充 電 電圧 4 . 2 V 、 充 電 電 流 1 A の 条 件 で 充 電 を 2 · 5 時 間 行 な い 、 つ い で 6 . 2 Ω の 定 抵抗 で 放 電 を 行 な う と い っ た 充放 電 サ イ ク ル を 繰 り 返 し 行 な つ て 、 放 電 容 量 の 変 化 を 観測 し 、 放 電 容 量 が 初 期 容 量 の 5 0 % ま で低下す る サ イ ク ル数 ( 5 0 % 容量 サ イ ク ル数) を 調 べ た 。 そ の 結 果 を 表 4 に 示 す 。

* :比較例 3のポリフ ッ化ビ二リ デンは、 N —メ チルピロリ ドン以外の溶剤に 溶解せず合剤塗料を作製できなかった。 表 4 の 結 果 か ら ゎ カヽ る よ つ に 、 結 着剤 に ポ リ フ ッ ィ匕 ビ 二 リ デ ン を 用 い た 電 池 N 〜 P に 比 べ て 、 フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン ー テ ト ラ フ ル ォ 口 エ チ レ ン 系 共 重 合体 を 用 い た 電 池 A 〜 M は 5 0 % 容量 サ イ ク ル数 が 大 き く 、 良 好 な 充 放 電 サ ィ ク ル特 性 を 発揮 す る 。 ま た 、 電 池 M の サ イ ク ル 特 性 が 特 に 良 好 な 理 由 は 、 結 着 剤 と し て 他 に 比 し て 数平均 分子 量 の 大 き い 共 重 合体 を 使 用 し て い る た め 、 集 電体 で あ る ァ ノレ ミ 箔 、 銅 箔 と 電極 合 剤 と の 接着 性 が さ ら に 向 上 し た こ と に あ る と 考 え ら れ る 。
こ の こ と か ら 、 結着 剤 と し て フ ツ イヒ ビ ニ リ デ ン ー テ ト ラ フ ノレ ォ ロ ェ チ レ ン 系 共 重 合体 、 特 に 比較 的 数平均 分子 量 の 大 き い 共 重 合体 を 用 い る こ と は 、 電 池 の 充 放 電 サ イ ク ル 特 性 の 向 上 を 図 る う え で 有 効 で あ る こ と が わ 力、 る 。 実施 例 1 3

請 求 の 範 囲
1 . 正極 活 物 質 と 導 電剤 と 結 着剤 よ り な る 正極 合剤 が 正 極集 電体 に 保持 さ れ て な る 正極 お よ び Z ま た は 負 極 活 物 質 と 結着 剤 よ り な る 負 極 合 剤 が 負 極集 電体 に 保 持 さ れ て な る 負 極 な ら び に 非水 電解液 を 具備 し て な る 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 に 用 い る 結着剤 に お い て 、 該結 着剤 が フ ツ イ匕 ビ ニ リ デ ン 5 0 〜 8 0 モ ル % と テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン 2 0 〜 5 0 モ ル % か ら 構 成 さ れ る 二元共 重 合 体 か ら な る 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池 用 結 着 剤 。
2 . 前記正 極 合 剤 お よ び Z ま た は 負 極 合剤 に 含有 さ れ る 結着 剤 が 、 フ ッ 化 ビ ニ リ デ ン 5 0 〜 8 0 モ ノレ % 、 テ ト ラ フ ル ォ ロ エ チ レ ン 1 7 モ ル % 以 上 5 0 モ ル % 未 満 お よ び そ れ ら と 共重 合 し う る 単量体 3 モ ル % 未 満 か ら 構 成 さ れ る 三元 以 上 の 共 重合体 か ら な る 請求 の 範 囲 第 1 項 記載 の 非水 電解液二次 電池 用 結 着 剤 。
3 . 前記共重合体の数平均分子量が 1 5 0 , 0 0 0 〜 5 0 0 , 0 0 0 で あ る 請求 の 範 囲 第 2 項 記 載 の 非水 電解 液 二次 電 池 用 結 着剤 。
4 . 正極 活 物 質 が リ チ ウ ム 含有酸 化物 で あ る 請求 の 範 囲 第 1 〜 3 項 の い ず れ か に 記載 の 非 水 電解液 二次 電 池用 結 着剤 。
5 . 請求 の 範 囲 第 1 〜 4 項 の い ず れ か に 記載 の 非 水 電解 液 二次 電 池用 結 着剤 を 含 む 電 池 電 極合剤 。
6 . 請 求 の 範 囲 第 5 項 記 載 の 電 池 電極合 剤 を 含 む 非 水 電 解液二次 電 池 。
