Abstract
An arrangement for aiming, gun mounting and elevating of a single barrel weapon or a multi barrel weapon consists of a gun carriage disk (1) turnable attached to a gun base (2) and suspending the barrel (3) or the barrels. A second gun carriage disk (4) is arranged parallel to the first disk on the same centre axis (5) and the two disks (1, 4) are positioned variable in relation to each other while maintaining the same geometrical centre axis. The barrel(s) (3) is attached turnable as well as rotatable but axially fixed to the first gun carriage disk (1) and passes through the second gun carriage disk (4) in a bearing (7), which permits rotating and axial displacement of the barrel (3) in relation to said second gun carriage disk (4). The position variation is a revolving motion around the centre axis or a displacement of at least one of the gun carriage disks in relation to the second one along the centre axis (5) or a combination of a revolving motion and a displacement motion.
Description
ARRANGEMENT FOR AIMING, MOUNTING GUN CARRIAGE, ELEVATING ONE OR SEVERAL BARREL WEAPONS
This invention relates to an arrangement for aiming, gun moun- ting and elevating of a single barrel weapon or a multi barrel weapon. The inventive arrangement presents the possibility to elevate a weapon, which has a fixed gun mounting in the horizontal line, whereat only the elevation adjustment of the barrels is altered. The difference between my new invention and the known art is that the barrels of the weapons are elevated by means of a new technique, which offers possibilities to shoot in all directions and angles of elevation and also leads to a simple and very stable artillery construction. Both elevating and aiming of the weapon is carried out by two fixed, parallel bottom and top gun carriage disks, which are radially movable in the horizontal plane. Only the barrels change their angle of elevation by horizontal turning of the top gun carriage disk in relation to the bottom gun carriage disk. The invention is characterized by the feature stated in the accom- panying claims. An embodiment of the invention will be described in the following with reference to accompanying drawings .
Fig. 1 is thereby a schematic side-view showing several barrels arranged according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is a schematic view showing the arrangement of fig. 1 from above .
Fig. 3 is partly a vertical section of the arrangement according to fig. 1 showing the arrangement more in detail.
Fig. 4 is a vertical section of a part of the attachment of the barrel in the bottom gun carriage disk.
Fig. 5 is a vertical section showing the attachment of the barrel in the top gun carriage disk.
The object of the invention is thus that only the barrels will be elevated when elevating is carried out.
This is achieved by the attaching the barrels in two gun carriage disks 1, 4. All the barrels are mounted in the same way, and therefore the following description only relates to one of the barrels. The barrel is axially movable through a ball 7, which forms a ball joint by being rotatable attached in the top gun carriage disk 4. By this the barrel is movable in all directions within the range of mobility of the ball joint, which means that the angle of elevation of the barrel will be altered when the top gun carriage disk 4 is turned in relation to the bottom gun carriage disk 1. This because the bottom part of the barrel is attached to the bottom disk 1 by means of a ball joint 6, which fixes the barrel in the axial direction but allows the barrel to assume different angles in relation to the bottom disk 1 by that the top disk 4 is turned in relation to the bottom disk 1. When there are several barrels the scattering of the firing can be controlled by turning the top disk 4. A bearing centre 8 is arranged on the bottom gun carriage disk 1 and the centre is mounted in bearings in a gun base 2. This makes it possible for the bottom disk to rotate together with the top disk and the barrels 360 degrees in relation to the gun base. The barrels are aimed in the lateral direction by this rotating movement.
A rotatable axis 9 passes through the bearing centre 8 and the axis 9 is so formed, that it forms the centre attachment for the top disk 4, that is to say the top disk 4 is fixed to the upper end of the axis 9. As described before the barrels are mounted axially movable in the ball joints 7, see fig. 3. The top disk 4 is turnable in relation to the bottom disk 1 and when the top disk is turned all the barrels will assume an angle of elevation corresponding to the degree of turning of the upper disk in relation to the bottom disk.
The upper disk 4 moves through an angle of 45° when elevating the barrels. The disk is moved by a turning means 10 in form of an electric engine, hydraulic engine or other motor. The turning means 10 operates the axis 9 via gears. The turning means are mounted on the bottom disk 1 and follows it when turned. This means that the top disk 4 will not be effected when the gun is adjusted laterally, but will keep the set angle of elevation, which as said above is decided by turning the top disk in relation to the bottom disk. As said above this depends on that the turning means 10 is fixed to the bottom disk 1. The bottom disk 1 is turned (adjusting laterally) by an electric engine 11 or other kind of motor, which is mounted on the gun base 2. The electric engine 11 drives a gearing 12, which is mounted on the bottom disk 1 so that this disk is turned to a certain position which decides the lateral aiming position of the barrels. The firing of the barrels is carried out by an electrical firing arrangement. This arrangement consists of several firing gears mounted on the gun base. Firing pulses are then transmitted from the firing gears to firing sensors on the bottom disk, one sensor for each barrel, and the firing pulses then reach the barrels which the operator likes to fire. Thus the operator decides how many of and which of the barrels should be fired. The firing can thus be carried out by salvos or by single fire, for instance with all barrels straight upwards or the firing can be in the form of an umbrella, circles or in fan shape or in any wanted pattern. It is also possible to fire to the same target area with all the barrels, by that the bottom disk is moving and firing the barrels when they are passing a firing position corresponding to the barrel being aimed in the direction of the target.
It is also possible to fire in 360° with optional angle of elevation. In the described embodiment the elevating has been carried out by that the gun carriage disks are turned in rela- tion to each other. The same effect can be reached however by that the distance between the two disks are adjusted when the barrels are inclined. This axial displacement between the disks
can be carried out by hydraulic motors or screws. The combination of turning movement and axial displacement can also be used for the elevating of the barrels.
