- the shape memory polymer include one or more hard segments and one or more soft segments, wherein at least one of the segments is biodegradable or at least one of the segments is linked to another segment via a biodegradable linkage. Representative biodegradable linkages include ester-, amide-, anhydride-, carbonate-, or orthoester linkages.
- Shape memory blends are highly useful in industrial applications, since a broad range of mechanical, thermal, and shape memory capabilities can be obtained from only two or three basic polymers by blending them in different weight ratios.
