Description

TICKET RESERVATION SYSTEM AND METHOD USING A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION TERMINAL
FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a ticket reservation system using a wireless communication terminal , and more particularly to a ticket reservation system using a wireless communication system of a new concept avoiding separate an identity confirmation process and a ticket-issuing process.
DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR ART
Conventionally, a customer, in order to buy a ticket such as an admission ticket to a movie, a boarding ticket, or the like in advance, should directly visit a reservation center and buy in advance a ticket on which a date and time are fixed. It causes a inconvenience to a customer since the customer should visit a reservation center before a reservation date for such a ticket reservation . Therefore , a ticket reservation system using a communication is developed in order to overcome such a inconvenience .
FIG. 1 is a view for showing a ticket reservation system using a communication. As shown in FIG. 1, the ticket reservation system includes a server 8 which is equipped with an audio response system (ARS) or an internet communication part and enables a customer to be connected to the server 8 by using a wireless communication terminal 5 such as a cellular phone , a PCS terminal , and the like , a telephone 4 , an internet terminal 6, or the like. Accordingly, if a customer is connected to the server 8 to request a ticket reservation, a ticket reservation is made according to the customer's request. The customer re-confirms the reservation before a reservation date, visits a reservation center on the reservation date, and receives the ticket through an identity confirmation . At this time, the server 8 is connected to an approval server of a financial institution such a card company, a bank, or the like to enable a ticket fee to be settled on-line through an input of an account number or a card number on reserving a ticket.
Since such a ticket reservation system enables a customer to reserve a ticket in advance through a communication and to receive the reserved ticket in advance through a visit to a reservation center on the date, the customer has not to visit the reservation center in advance, but, in order to receive a ticket, an identity confirmation process is carries out to confirm whether a visitor to the reservation center is the same person as the reserved and a process of issuing the reserved ticket should be performed, which is a time-consuming and troublesome job and may cause a problem in issuing the reserved ticket to a different person who do not make an reservation due to an error in the identity confirmation process. Particularly, a reservation for which a customer requested is not made in some cases, so inconvenience is caused to the customer since the customer re-confirms once again whether the reservation is made after the customer makes the reservation.
In the meantime, in recent, various kinds of wireless communication terminals such as a PCS, a personal data assistant (PDA) , an IMT2000 terminal, and other character communication-dedicated terminals have been developed, enabling characters, symbols, or images to be received and transmitted through a communication company .
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In order to solve the above problems, it is an object of the present invention to provide a ticket reservation system of a new concept capable of avoiding separate identity confirmation and ticket-issuing processes by using wireless communication terminals as stated above . In order to achieve the above object, a ticket reservation system using a wireless communication terminal comprises the wireless communication terminal having a function of displaying a certain code; and a server connected through the internet, a telephone, or the wireless communication terminal for a customer to make a reservation, wherein said server transmits the code to the wireless communication terminal in a wireless manner, and, if the customer is connected to the server through an ARS using the internet, wire and wireless telephones, or the wireless communication terminal and inputs reservation data and the number of the wireless communication terminal of the customer, the server transmits a certain code to the customer' s wireless communication terminal, and the reservation of the customer who bears the wireless communication terminal is confirmed by using the code received at the wireless communication terminal .
A code reader is connected to the server to read the code displayed on the wireless communication terminal , the server reads the code displayed on the wireless communication terminal through the code reader and automatically confirms the customer's reservation.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The above object and other advantages of the present invention will become more apparent by describing in detail a preferred embodiment thereof with reference to the attached drawings , in which :
FIG. 1 is a view for showing a structure of a conventional ticket reservation system; and
FIG. 2 is a view for showing a ticket reservation system using a wireless communication terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT A preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings as below.
FIG. 2 is a view for showing a ticket reservation system using a wireless communication terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention, particularly used for a ticket reservation of a movie .
A ticket reservation system using a wireless communication terminal comprises a wireless communication terminal 12 owned by a customer, equipped with a predetermined display device such as PCS, PDA, IMT2000, and the like, and capable of displaying a received code; a server 8 having a ticket reservation program and capable of transmitting a predetermined code to the wireless communication terminal 12 ; and a code reader 14 mounted at a theater entrance and capable of reading the code displayed on the wireless communication terminal 12 owned by a customer.
The server 8 is connected through the internet or ARS in order for a customer to input reservation date and time, the number of the wireless communication terminal 12 of the customer, and so on according to the inputted contents of the ticket reservation program, stores the reservation data inputted from the customer in a database 15 while producing different codes according to inputted reservation data . Further , the server 8 is connected to a switching office 16 of a communication company to transmit the code to the wireless communication terminal 12 of the customer in a wireless manner. At this time, the server 8 is connected to an approval server 10 of a financial institution such as a card company, a bank, or the like to settle a ticket fee on-line with the use of an account number or a card number inputted separately from the customer upon the reservation. A general bar code is preferably used as the code. In case that the display device of the wireless communication terminal 12 can not display the bar code, a symbol system or graphics which is separately created differently from the bar code may be used.
The code reader 14 is connected to the server 8. As a general bar code reader, the code reader 14, if the display device of the wireless communication terminal 12 is taken to be close to the code reader 14, the code reader 14 reads a code information displayed on the display device and transmits the read information to the server 8. At this time, the server 8 verifies whether the code information inputted through the code reader 14 is matched with the reservation data stored in a database 15 and transmits the verified result to the code reader 14. Since the code reader 14 has a separate display device, the code reader 14 can display the verified result transmitted from the server 8.
Accordingly, if a customer is connected to the server 8 through the telephone 4 , the internet terminal 6, or the wireless communication terminal 12 and then inputs his desired reservation date and time and the number of the wireless communication terminal 12 of his own according to the reservation program, the server 8 transmits a certain code to the customer' s wireless communication terminal 12 according to the inputted data. At this time, a ticket fee is automatically settled by the approval server 10 of a financial institution connected to the server 8. Further, if a customer stores a received code in his wireless communication terminal 12 and places the code displayed on his wireless communication terminal 12 on the code reader 14 at the entrance of a theater at a proper time, the code read by the code reader 14 is verified by the server 8 and the verified result is displayed on the display device, so the verification is made on the spot that the customer bearing the wireless communication terminal 12 is the customer who made the reservation and the customer gains entrance.
In the ticket reservation system using a wireless communication terminal constructed as above, if the customer is connected to the server 8 to make a reservation by using the telephone 4 , the internet terminal 6, or the like, a certain code is transmitted to the customer's wireless communication terminal 12, so the customer confirms on the spot whether the reservation is completed or not. Therefore, inconvenience caused with a later reconfirmation for the reservation can be reduced. Further, since a code received by the wireless communication terminal 12 is used for a ticket rather than using a separate ticket, the issuance of a ticket becomes unnecessary. Particularly, since the code is transmitted to the wireless communication terminal 12 having a number which a customer designates , a separate identity verification becomes unnecessary for the customer who bears the wireless communication terminal 12 displaying the code. Further, since it is automatically checked whether or not a customer is admitted, by using the code reader 14 connected to the server 8, customers and sales are very easily managed. In case of the present embodiment, the server 8 is connected to a switching office 16 of a communication company to transmit a code to the wireless communication terminal 12 of a customer, but a code may be transmitted to the wireless communication terminal 12 through a separate switching office-running company connecting the server 8 and a communication company or by using a separate wireless communication terminal connected to the server 8. Further , in case that the code reader 14 can not be mounted to be connected to the server 8 , a person in charge of inspecting a ticket confirms a code displayed on the wireless communication terminal 12 with the naked eyes for acknowledging the customer's reservation. At this time, the code is preferably constructed with characters, symbols, numbers, or the like which can be recognized with the naked eyes. Further, any devices through which character data can be received may be used instead of the wireless communication terminal 12.
Further, in case of the present embodiment, a ticket reservation system used for a ticket reservation for a movie is taken as an instance, but the ticket reservation system may be applied to the purchases of all kinds of tickets such as admission tickets, goods tickets, coupons, and so on, in addition to the movie tickets . As stated above, according to the present invention, the server 8 is built in a ticket sales center, a certain code is transmitted to the wireless communication terminal 12 of a customer based on the data inputted through the internet or an ARS , and the code can be read through the code reader 14 connected to the server 8 , so that separate identity verification and ticket issuance processes become unnecessary.
Although the preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that the present invention should not be limited to the described preferred embodiment, but various changes and modifications can be made within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims .
