Abstract

The present invention relates to a mobile data communication system, a mobile data communication method with service code scheme and and a storage medium storing program source of the method. The mobile data communication system has a database consisting of service codes and Web sites which provide information service, so that a user of the mobile data communication system is able to use the information service by transmitting a service code and search key words to the Web site instead of connecting Internet and selecting directories of the Web sites. Therefore, the user of the mobile data communication terminal can save calling time and information service charge. According to the mobile data communication system of the present invention, a user sends a service code and search key words through a mobile communication terminal to get desired information, a Web site corresponding to the service code is retrieved, the search key words are transmitted to the Web site and desired information searched through the Web site is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal.

Description

MOBILE DATA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND METHOD AND STORAGE MEDIUM STORED THEREIN THE METHOD
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a mobile data communication system and a mobile data communication method for using information service through the mobile data communication system and a storage medium storing program source of the method. The mobile data communication system has a database consisting of service codes and Web sites which provide information service, so that a user of the mobile data communication system is able to use the information service by transmitting a service code and search key words to the Web site instead of connecting Internet and selecting directories of the Web sites. Therefore, the user of the mobile data communication system can save calling time and information service charge.
BACKGROUND ART
So far, to use information service through a mobile telecommunication terminal such as cell phones, a user has to connect with the Internet and reach to a Web site via hierarchical tree structure of directories. After finding the Web site, the user selects a desired information service provided by the Web site and enters search key words or search key string to get information from the Web site. However, such method takes a lot of calling time and connecting time to the Web sites, so that it results in increase of information service charge and calling charge of the mobile telecommunication terminal. Further, because such method is so complicated, the user of the mobile data communication terminal is not willing to use the information service. Further, the mobile telecommunication terminal provides a dial pad different from a key board which is provided as a peripheral device of a computer. The dial pad does not separately provide character keys and numeric keys. Character and numeric is selectively inputted using a single key with the dial pad. Accordingly, procedure of inputting character or numeric using the dial pad is so complicated. DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a mobile data communication system and a method and a storage medium storing computer program source of the method that is capable of removing the problems above. The mobile data communication system of the present invention builds a database consisting of service codes data and Web sites data related to the service code, retrieves a Web site corresponding to a service code from the database when a user wishes to get desired information by inputting a service code and search key words, transmits the search key words to the retrieved Web site, and receives desired information searched through the Web site. It is further object of the present invention is to provide a mobile data communication system and a method and a storage medium storing computer program source of the method that is capable of supporting receiving search key words with numeric.
To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a mobile data communication system comprising: a mobile telecommunication terminal having a database consisting of Web Site data and service code data, wherein the terminal receives a service code and search key words from a user who wishes to get desired information, retrieves a Web Site corresponding to the service code from the database and sends the Web Site and the search key words to communication network; and an Internet server connected to the communication network and a plurality of Web Sites, wherein the server receives the Web Site information and the search key words from the terminal, connects with the Web Site, transmits the search key words to the Web Site, and transmits desired information searched through the Web site to the terminal
To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a mobile data communication system wherein the Internet server comprises: a database storing service code data and Web Site data related to the service code data; a query supporting module for retrieving a Web Site corresponding a service code from the database , sending search key words received from the terminal to the Web Site retrieved from the database and transmitting desired information searched through the Web Site; and a billing module for charging information service charge against a bill of calling charge of the mobile communication terminal. To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a mobile data communication system wherein in such case that Web Site receives the search key words with numeric through the mobile telecommunication terminal, the Web Site transmits at least one word by retrieving words corresponding to the numeric to the terminal so that the user can select one of the words. To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a mobile data communication system, wherein the Internet server provides local information of a location where the mobile communication terminal is located by detecting location of the terminal after receiving a service code corresponding to the local information.
To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a mobile data communication system, wherein the mobile communication terminal further includes a code query supporting module for providing service code information to a user of the mobile communication terminal in response to a request of code query from the user.
To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a mobile data communication system, wherein the Internet server updates the service code information provided by the code query supporting module at regular intervals or whenever the database is updated.
To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a mobile data communication method using service code scheme, wherein a user sends a service code and search key words through a mobile communication terminal to get desired information, a Web site corresponding to the service code is retrieved, the search key words are transmitted to the
Web site and desired information searched through the Web site is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal.
To achieve the object of the present invention, there is provided a storage medium storing computer program source of the method, wherein a user sends a service code and search key words through a mobile communication terminal to get desired information, a Web site corresponding to the service code is retrieved, the search key words are transmitted to the Web site and desired information searched through the Web site is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is a block diagram showing configuration of the mobile data communication system in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention;

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
The objectives and advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood with reference to accompanying drawings and detailed description of the preferred embodiment below.
The present invention provides a mobile data communication service system that is capable of easily using information service and rapidly getting desired information provided by information service provider through a mobile communication terminal by introducing service code scheme.
For example, by inputting search key words and a service code and pushing a calling button on a mobile communication terminal, a user of the terminal can rapidly connect to an Internet Web site or a messaging service site and get desired information in a short time.
Accordingly, calling time and service charge of the information service can be reduced and saved, respectively.
Fig. 1 illustrates a block diagram showing configuration of the mobile data communication system using service code scheme in accordance with the present invention. As shown in Fig. 1, the mobile data communication system according to the present invention comprises a mobile communication terminal 100 for inputting and sending search key words and a service code corresponding to a Web site 400 and an Internet server 300 for receiving the search key words and the service code, retrieving a Web site 400 corresponding to the service code, transmitting the search key words to the Web site 400 and transmitting searched information received from the Web Site 400 to the mobile communication terminal 100.
The mobile communication teπninal 100 and the Internet server 300 are connected through wireless communication network 300. The Internet server 300 is preferably built by a mobile communication service provider but can be built by other information service provider. The Internet server 300 includes a database 310 consisting of Web site data and service code data which is related to each of the Web sites, a query supporting module 320 for retrieving an Web site corresponding to a service code received from the mobile communication terminal 100, sending search key words received from the terminal 100 to the retrieved Web site 400, and transmitting searched information by the Web site 400 to the terminal 100. The Internet server 300 further includes a billing module 330 for charging infonnation service charge against a bill of the calling charge of the mobile communication terminal 100. The Internet server 300 can be constructed by building each module in an each separate server and connecting each server to other servers.
In case that the Web site 400 receives the key words with numeric from the mobile communication terminal 100, the Web site 400 retrieves the numeric, provides at least one word matched with the numeric to the user and re-receives selected word from the user.
The Internet server 300 provides local information of a location where the mobile communication terminal 100 is located in response to a predetermined service code that is registered in the terminal. The mobile communication terminal includes a code query supporting module 110 for providing service code information in response to a request of code query from the user of the terminal 100. The Internet server 300 updates the service code information of the code query supporting module 110 at predetermined regular intervals or whenever the database 310 is updated. Further, the code query supporting module 340 can be included in the Internet server 300 instead of being stored in the terminal 100 as shown in Fig. 2. As shown in Fig. 2, the Internet server 300 includes a code query supporting 340 for providing service code information in response to a request of code query of the user. The embodiment of the Fig.2 is useful when a user is being connected to the Internet server through telecommunication network not using the mobile communication terminal and wishes to retrieve a service code. Fig. 3 shows a data communication method for using information service through the mobile data communication system with service code scheme in accordance with the present invention. The method comprises the steps of (a) retrieving a Web site corresponding a service code transmitted from a mobile communication terminal from a database storing Web site data and service code data S500-S510, (b) transmitting search key words received from the mobile communication terminal to the retrieved Web site S530 and transmitting searched information received from the Web site to the mobile communication terminal S570, and (c) charging information service charge against a bill of calling charge of a mobile communication terminal S590.
The method can further includes a step of (d) updating service code information that is stored in the mobile communication terminal at predetermined regular intervals or whenever the database is updated.
The step (a) can provides the teπninal with local information in response to a predetermined service code transmitted from the terminal by detecting a location where the terminal is located. Further the step (a) provides service code information stored in the terminal in response to a request of code query from a user of the terminal.
In case that search key words are inputted with numeric from the terminal during the step (a), the step (b) retrieves words relevant to the numeric, transmits the retrieved words to the user and receives a selected word out of the retrieved words from the user.
The operation process of retrieving a Web site and providing desired information searched from the Web site to the teπninal when the user transmits search key words and a service code using a mobile communication terminal will be detailed below.
For example, a user of the terminal wishes to know meaning of a word "apple" and service code information are consisted of as follows:
*1 : English Dictionary *2 : Security Information *3 : People Bibliographical Information
*4 : Local information
The service code information should be downloaded in code query supporting module 110 of the terminal 100 from the Internet server 300 whenever the service code information is updated or at regular intervals, for example one(l) week intervals that is set by the code query supporting module 110 of the terminal.
The user of the terminal inputs search key word "apple" and service code "*1" using a dial pad of the mobile communication terminal and pushes a calling button, a retrieving button or a launching button. Then, the search key word "apple" and the service code "*1" are transmitted to the Internet server 300 through wireless communication network 200 S500. The user also can input numeric "27753" instead of "apple" using the dial pad. Further, it is preferable to first input search key word and after input service code.
For example, the numeric in dial pad of the terminal corresponds to the following.
1 : Q, Z 2 : A, B, C
3 : D, E, F
4 : G, H, I
5 : J, K, L 6 : M, N, 0 7 : P, R, S
8 : T, U, V
9 : W, X, Y
Further the special symbol "*" is inputted with numeric button of "0". The query supporting module 320 retrieves a Web site corresponding to the service code transmitted from the terminal 100 from the database 310 and determines where there is a Web site coπesponding to the service code S520.
If a corresponding Web site is not found, the query supporting module 320 outputs error message S522, re-receives a service code from the terminal S524 and repeatedly performs the steps S522 and S524. If a corresponding Web site is found, the query supporting module 320 transmits the search key words received from the terminal 100 to the retrieved Web site 400 and transmits desired information searched through the Web site 400 to the terminal 100 via the wireless communication network 200 S530-S570.
The operating process of query supporting module 320 will be more detailed below. For example, the database 310 includes service code data and Web site data as follows:
1 : www.english.com
2 : www.stock.co.kr
3 : www.whoswho.co.kr
4 : www.local.co.kr The query supporting module 320 retrieves a Web site www.english.com corresponding a service code "*1" from the database 310 S510, and transmits the search key word "apple" to the Web site www.english.com S520-S530.
In case that the retrieved Web site 400 receives the search key word "apple" with numeric for example "27753", the Web site 400 retrieves words corresponding to the numeric, provides the user with the retrieved words and receives a selected word from the user.
The operation process of retrieving words corresponding numeric will be detailed with reference to Fig. 4. The Web site 400 determines whether the key word transmitted from the terminal is numeric S540 after receiving the search key word S530. In case of no numeric, the Web site 400 retrieves the search key word S550 and determines where there is desired information S560. If desired information is found, the information searched through the Web site 400 is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal 100 S570. The user receives and confirms the information transmitted from the Web site 400 S580 and can close information service.
Finally, a billing module 330 charges information service charge against a bill of calling charge of the mobile communication terminal S590.
In case of being determined that there is no desired information during step S560, eπor message is displayed in the teπninal 100 by way of Internet server 300 S565. The step 565 is employed for displaying error message when search key word is inputted in error or not inputted.
On the other hand, if the search key word is numeric in step 540, the Web site 400 provides at least one word corresponding to the numeric to the user so that the user can select one word from the provided words S610-S630. The step S610-630 is employed because there can be a lot of words corresponding to the same numeric. For example, words other than "apple" can be listed for the numeric "27753." By providing the step S610-S630, accuracy and convenience of information search can be accomplished. The Web site 400 determines whether the selected word is found S640. If the selected word is found, then the Web site searches the selected word S550 so as to output search results. If not, the Web site outputs error message. Then, the search results or error message is transmitted to the terminal 100 SI 00.
Finally, if the user wants to use no other information service, the information service is closed S580.
Then, the billing module 330 charges the information service charge against a bill of the calling charge of the mobile communication terminal S590.
On the other hand, the code query supporting module 110 installed in the terminal 100 provides service code information to the user in response to a request of code query of the user. That is, service codes and list of information service coπesponding to each of the service codes are displayed on the terminal when the user, for example, inputs "**" and pushes or selects
"calling", "retrieving" or "launching" button on the terminal.
However, the code query supporting module 340 can be installed in the Internet server 300 as shown in Fig. 2. Therefore, the user can retrieve the service code corresponding an information service to which the user would be connected through the Internet.
Further, the user can be provided with local information service by inputting a service code for example "*4" without search key words. By being inputted the service code "*4", the Internet server 300 searches local information of the location where the terminal is located from relevant Web site and provide the local information to the terminal. The local information means information related to hotels, restaurants, schools or government agencies that are located in the region where the terminal is located.
As described above, by using service code database instead of directly inputting character through the mobile communication terminal, the user can use information service in a t short time. Therefore information service charge and calling charge of the mobile communication terminal can be saved. The present invention can be applied to the field of using information service such as dictionary, encyclopedia, people bibliography, stock market infonnation, selling prices of goods, and retrieving titles of cinema or video cassette tape.
It should be understood that the foregoing relates to only preferred embodiments of the present invention, and that it is intended to cover all changes and modifications of the embodiments of the invention herein used for the purposes of the disclosure, which do not constitute departures from the spirit and scope of the invention.

Claims

WHAT IS CLAIMED IS:
1. A mobile data communication system comprising: a mobile telecommunication terminal having a database consisting of Web Site data and service code data, wherein the terminal receives a service code and search key words from a user who wishes to get desired information, retrieves a Web Site coπesponding to the service code from the database and sends the Web Site and the search key words to communication network; and an Internet server connected to the communication network and a plurality of Web Sites, wherein the server receives the Web Site information and the search key words from the terminal, connects with the Web Site, transmits the search key words to the Web Site, and transmits desired information searched through the Web site to the tenninal.
2. The system according to claim 1, wherein the Internet server comprises: a database storing service code data and Web Site data related to the service code data; a query supporting module for retrieving a Web Site coπesponding a service code from the database , sending search key words received from the terminal to the Web Site retrieved from the database and transmitting desired information searched through the Web Site; and a billing module for charging information service charge against a bill of calling charge of the mobile communication terminal.
3. The system according to claim 1, wherein the Internet server provides local information of a location where the mobile communication terminal is located by detecting location of the terminal after receiving a service code corresponding to the local information.
4. The system according to claim 2, the mobile communication terminal further includes a code query supporting module for providing service code information to a user of the mobile communication terminal in response to a request of code query from the user.
5. The system according to claim 4, the Internet server updates the service code information provided by the code query supporting module at regular intervals or whenever the database is updated.
6. The system according to claim 2, wherein in such case that Web Site receives the search key words with numeric through the mobile telecommunication terminal, the Web Site transmits at least one word by retrieving words coπesponding to the numeric to the terminal so that the user can select one of the words.
7. A mobile data communication method using service code scheme, wherein a user sends a service code and search key words through a mobile communication terminal to get desired information, a Web site corresponding to the service code is retrieved, the search key words are transmitted to the Web site and desired information searched through the Web site is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal.
8. The method according to claim 7, comprises the steps of: (a) retrieving a Web Site coπesponding to the service code transmitted from the mobile communication terminal from a database storing Web Site data and service code data;
(b) sending search key word received from the mobile communication terminal to the Web
Site retrieved during the step (a) and transmitting desired information searched through the Web
Site to the mobile communication terminal; and (c) billing information service charge to a bill of calling charge of the mobile communication terminal of the user.
9. The method according to claim 8, the step (a) provides local information of a region where the terminal is located in response to a predetermined service code received from the mobile communication terminal.
10. The method according to claim 8, the step (a) provides a service code to the user by retrieving service code information stored in the mobile communication terminal in response to a request of code query from the user.
11. The method according to claim 10, wherein the method further comprises a step of (d) updating the service code information at predetermined regular intervals or whenever the database is updated.
12. The method according to claim 8, wherein in such case of receiving the key words with numeric during the step (a), the step (b) retrieves a word corresponding to the numeric and provides the user with at least one word and receives a word selected by the user.
13. A storage medium storing computer program source for implementing a mobile data communication method using service code scheme, wherein a user sends a service code and search key words through a mobile communication terminal to get desired information, a Web site corresponding to the service code is retrieved, the search key words are transmitted to the Web site and desired information searched through the Web site is transmitted to the mobile communication terminal.
14. The storage medium according to claim 13, wherein the computer program source includes:
(a) a process of retrieving a Web Site coπesponding to the service code transmitted from the mobile communication terminal from a database storing Web Site data and service code data;
(b) a process of sending search key word received from the mobile communication terminal to the Web Site retrieved during the step (a) and transmitting desired information searched through the Web Site to the mobile communication terminal; and
(c) a process of billing information service charge to a bill of calling charge of the mobile communication terminal of the user.
15. The storage medium according to claim 14, the process (a) provides local information of a region where the terminal is located in response to a predetermined service code received from the mobile communication terminal.
16. The storage medium according to claim 14, the process (a) provides a service code to the user by retrieving service code information stored in the mobile communication terminal in response to a request of code query from the user.
17. The storage medium according to claim 16, wherein the computer program source further comprises a process of (d) updating the service code information at predetermined regular intervals or whenever the database is updated.
18. The storage medium according to claim 14, wherein in such case of receiving the key words with numeric in the process (a), the process (b) retrieves a word corresponding to the numeric and provides the user with at least one word and receives a word selected by the user.
