Abstract
Off-gases from metallurgical industry give rise to 10-15 % of all emissions of carbon dioxide in the world. The reduction of the emissions of these off-gases is therefore a key element in any strategy for reducing national or international greenhouse gas emissions. A process for the reduction of net greenhouse gases from industrial off-gases is disclosed, using catalytic processes such as Fischer-Tropsch catalysis. The process has the potential to decrease net greenhouse gas emissions from carbon-bearing industrial off-gases by up to 80-95 % in an economical way. A new type of low-emission fuel for compression engines, in which the main paraffinic component can be manufactured using said catalytic methods, is also disclosed.
