本発明は液晶表示器などの表示器の表示前面側に配置されるタッ チパネル、 表示装置、 タツチパネルの製造方法に関するものである
冃 Ji«>技術
( A ) タツチパネルの上下基板の対向する面に形成された透明導 電膜は湿度によ り腐食し、 耐久性に劣るという問題があるため、 従 来においては、 上下基板を、 湿度を通しやすい樹脂製から湿度を通 しにくいガラス製に変更して耐久性を改善している (特開平 10— 13 3817号公報) 。
しかし、 環境的に安定している民生環境で使用するタツチパネル としては、 上記従来構造でも湿度に関しては満足できるものである が、 例えば自動車のような高温、 高湿環境で長時間、 使用する場合 には、 従来構造では湿度に対して満足できるものではないことを見 出した。
即ち、 本発明者の試験結果による知見によれば、 一般的に入手で きるタツチパネル (市販のカーナビゲーショ ン用液晶モニターに採 用されているタツチパネル) を 65°C、 95% Rhという高温、 高湿環境 下で放置したところ、 400Hrで対向した一対のガラス基板間の空間 部内に水分が侵入し、 タツチパネルとしての機能を果たさなくなる ということが初めて分かった。
本試験に使用した市販のタッチパネル内部への水分侵入経路とし て考えられる、 一対のガラス基板間を接着しているシール部の肉厚 (断面方向) を測定した結果、 20 μ πιであった。
このように、 タツチパネル內への水分の侵入がシール部の肉厚に 依存するという本発明者の新たな知見に基き、 シール部の肉厚を所 定の範囲に設定することで、 水分がシール部を透過して一対のガラ ス基板間に侵入するのを回避して高温、 高湿環境下でも長時間使用 可能なタツチパネル、 表示装置、 タツチパネルの製造方法を提供す ることを目的とするものである。
( Β ) 従来この種の表示装置としては、 例えば自動車用ナビグー ション装置の液晶表示器の表示光出射側に透明のタツチスィ ツチを 配置したものが知られている。
液晶表示器に表示されたスィ ツチを見ながら、 タツチパネルの表 面を直接に触れて操作することによ り、 あたかも液晶表示器に表示 されたスィ ツチを操作したよ うな感覚を観察者に与えている。 この ようなタツチパネルの採用により、 従来液晶表示器の周辺に配置さ れたスィ ツチ類を廃止したり、 液晶表示器の作動を行う操作を容易 にすることができる。
しかし、 タツチパネルの構成においては、 空気と接する部位が 4 個所存在する。 つまり、 一対の透明絶縁基板の外表面、 該基板.の内 側に形成した各透明導電膜の外表面である。 これら空気と接する外 表面では外部から入射された光に対して必ず反射が発生するため、 タツチパネルの後方側に配置された表示器の表示が見にく くなる。 また、 表示器とタツチパネルとを組合せた場合、 外部の光がタツ チパネルの表面にて反射し、 表示器からの表示光とその反射外部光 とが重畳することになり、 観察者にとつては反射外部光の影響によ り表示光が観察し難いということに加えて、 表示器の表示光出射側 に至った外部光がその表示光出射側に配置された偏光板で反射し、 その反射外部光の影響によ り上記と同様に表示光が観察し難いとい うことが分かった。
本発明は、 タツチパネルからの反射光を抑えることの可能なタッ チパネル、 およびタツチパネルと表示器を組合せた表示装置におい て、 その表示装置のタツチパネルおよび表示器からの反射光を抑え て表示器の表示の品位を向上することの可能な表示装置、 の提供を 目的とするものである。
( C ) 従来、 タツチパネルの 1つと しては、 例えば上述の特開平 10— 133817号公報に記載されたものがある。
具体的に説明すると、 固定ガラス基板に、 シール部を形成する熱 硬化性樹脂からなるシール材を印刷後、 該固定ガラス基板よ りも肉 厚の薄い可動ガラス基板を固定ガラス基板に重ね合わせ、 その後、 これら一対のガラス基板に押圧力を加えた状態で熱を付与してシー ル材を硬化させてなるタツチパネノレである。
上記タツチパネルによれば、 製造過程において図 42に示すように 、 シール材 33' が加圧によ り潰される時に該シール材 33' の幅はタ ツチパネルの外側と内側とに広がり、 加圧力とシール材 33, の樹脂 の表面張力により一対のガラス基板 31 a , 32 aの対向ギヤップ 狭 くなる。 その後、 加圧状態でシール材 33' を熱硬化させた場合には 、 硬化過程で温度が上昇する時に樹脂の粘度が低下するため、 一層 、 シール材 33' の幅が広がり、 上記対向ギャップが狭くなつた状態 で該榭脂が硬化することが多い。
この結果、 硬化後に得られたシール部においては、 図 43に示すよ うに、 一対のガラス基板 31 a, 32 aの押圧により該一対のガラス基 板 31 a, 32 aの対向ギャップの狭さによ り、 いわゆるニュートンリ ングが発生するという不具合が発生する。 特に、 シール部 33のコー ナ部 33 bにニュートンリ ングの発生が顕著である。 ニュー ト ンリ ン グ発生領域を Nで示す。
一方で、 従来ではニュートンリ ングを解消するべく、 一対のガラ ス基板間の空間部内にガス体を封入して該空間部内の圧力を上昇さ せて可動ガラス基板を膨らませて上記ギヤップを拡大させている。 しかし、 一対のガラス基板間の空間部內にガス体を注入して該空間 部内の圧力を上昇させてもニュートンリ ングが解消できないという 問題があった。
この点について、 本発明者はニュートンリ ングの発生部位に着眼 したところ、 特にガラス基板の端部のコーナ部に対応したシール部 のコーナ部に顕著にニュートンリ ングが発生することを突き止めた また、 ガス体を封入してもニュートンリ ングの発生が解消できな い理由について、 本発明者等は、 次のことを見出した。 即ち、 シー ル部を硬化させた後にガス体を注入しているため、 ガス体の注入に よりガラス基板が膨らむ過程でシール部が剛直であるが故に、 該シ ール部がガラス基板の膨らみに追従することができず、 ガス体の注 入を停止する と、 ガラス基板を元の状態に戻そう とする作用が該ガ ラス基板に働き、 従って一対のガラス基板間のギヤップが拡大せず 、 ニュートンリ ングが発生するのである。
本発明は、 このよ うな点に鑑み、 ニュー ト ンリ ングの発生を回避 可能なタツチパネルおよびその製造方法を提供することを目的とす るものである。 発明の開示
I . 上述の (A ) に記載された課題を解決するための手段につい て説明する。
本発明者は例えば自動車瓖境を満足するためには、 65°C、 95% Rh の高温、 高湿瑗境下で lOOOHr放置後、 正常な動作をする必要がある という基準を設定した。 このような条件を満足できれば、 民生環境 でもより高い耐久性を満足できる。
さて、 このような条件を満足するには、 シール部の幅寸法を同じ に設定した状態では、 シール部の断面方向の肉厚を 8 m以下 (20 m X■ / 1000= 8 μ m ) に設定することがよいことを知った。 従って、 請求項 1に記載の発明によれば、 このような知見から、 シール部の肉厚を 8 μ m以下 ( 0は含まない) に設定したことによ り、 シール部を透過して一対のガラス基板間に侵入する水分を遮断 することができ、 従って湿度に対して高耐久のタツチパネルを提供 することができる。
請求項 2においては、 シール部の肉厚をさらに 5 μ ΐη以下に設定 したものである。 5 μ ιη以下では一層、 水分遮断効果が発揮され、 使用環境に厳しい自動車のような温度変化、 湿度変化の著しい環境 下でも充分に耐久性に優れる。
シール部の肉厚を薄くすることにより、 一対のガラス基板間のギ ヤップが狭くなる。 このため、 請求項 3のように、 タツチ領域を有 する一方のガラス基板の板厚を 0· 2πηη以上 0· 4mm以下に設定するこ とにより、 シール部の肉厚が薄いことと相俟って、 一対のガラス基 板の透明導電膜を互いに接触、 導通させるための動作荷重を小さく することが可能となり、 タツチパネルの操作性に優れる。
なお、 タツチ領域のガラス基板の板厚が 0. 2雇を下回ると、 ガラ ス基板の製造コス ト上昇に加えて、 タツチパネルの動作荷重が小さ くなり過ぎ、 誤作動をし易いということにつながる。 反対に 0. 4mm を上回ると、 動作荷重が大きくなり過ぎ、 タツチパネルとして使い にくいものとなる。
なお、 よ り望ましいガラス基板の肉厚の請求項 4のように下限値 は 0. 3匪がよい。 つまり、 使用者がタツチパネルのタツチ領域を積 極的にタツチしたという意識がない荷重でもタツチパネルが動作し てしまうことがある。 特に、 自動車では、 運転者は運転中にナビゲ ーショ ンの画面を見ずにタツチパネルの表面を指でなぞりながら目 的の箇所をタツチする傾向にあるが、 このような場合、 なぞる過程 でタツチパネルが動作することがある。 また、 振動、 例えば自動車 では悪路走行時の振動によりタツチパネルが動作するということも ある。
請求項 4のよ うに、 よ り望ましいガラス基板の板厚は 0. 4inffiがよ い。 つまりガラス基板の板厚が 0. 4mmの場合は、 大判ガラスによる ガラス基板の多数個取りが可能であり、 大量生産に適するとともに 、 コス ト低減となる。
タツチパネルのタツチ領域は、 ガラス基板のうち、 シール部によ つて囲まれた領域を表しており、 タツチ領域の中央 (ガラス基板の 中央) とタツチ領域の周囲 (シール部近傍) とでは動作荷重が異な る。 本発明者は、 動作荷重の上限を特開平 10— 133817号公報に開示 されている動作荷重の上限値である 200gfとし、 誤動作限界値を下 限値の 20gfと した。 このよ うな動作荷重の範囲とシール部の肉厚と の関係を、 タツチ領域を有するガラス基板のヤング率に着目したと ころ、 請求項 6に示すように、 シール部の肉厚が 8 μ m以下の条件 において 730000kgfZ cm2 ~ 750000kgf/ cm2 のヤング率の範囲が 望ましいことが分かった。 タツチ荷重として高い荷重が必要とされ るシール部近傍であってもタツチ領域のガラス基板のヤング率が 7 50000kgf/ cm2 までではタツチ荷重の上限値を満足することが可能 となる。 このことは、 タツチパネルのシ ル部近傍までに渡ってタ ッチすることが可能となるので、 タツチ領域を広く使う ことができ る。 シール部の透湿率は請求項 7に記載したように、 所定条件下で 8 X 10— 1 2 g · cm/ cm2 - s ec · cmHgを超えない値を有することがよ い。 このような透湿率を有するシール部の材料は請求項 8に記載し たように、 熱硬化型のエポキシ樹脂である。 この請求項 7および 8 によれば、 シ一ル部の肉厚 8 m以下を実現することができる。 例 えば、 透湿率の高い材料を使用することはシール部の肉厚をよ り小 さくすることが必要であり、 シール部の肉厚の上限値が 8 μ mよ り も確実に小さく なる。 これは、 シール部の肉厚の設計の自由度が狭 められるこ とを意味している。
シール部の肉厚が薄くなるとニュー トンリ ングが発生し始める。 ニュートンリ ングはタツチパネルを組付けた表示器の表示を見にく くする。 しかし、 請求項 9では、 一対のガラス基板のそれぞれに形 成した配線部どう しを電気的に接続する ト ランスファ一部をシール 部よ りも内側に配置し、 しかもこの トランスファー部と配線部との 積算肉厚 t 1 とシール部の肉厚 t 2 との関係を t l > t 2に設定し たから、 請求項 10のように、 シール部近傍を含めてタツチ領域のガ ラス基板をその外側に向けて凸状に膨らんだ形状にすることができ る。
これは、 シール部近傍のギャップが拡大されることになり、 シー ル部近傍でのニュートンリ ングの発生を回避することができる。 請求項 11のように、 配線部どう しを電気的に接続する ト ランスフ ァ一部を、 榭脂粒子おょぴ該樹脂粒子表面にめっきされた金属膜か らなる導電粒子で構成することがよい。 このような導電粒子で構成 されたトランスファ一部を採用することによ り、 トランスファ一部 自体の粒子径を小さくすることができ、 シール部の肉厚を 8 m以 下に設定することを妨げない。 つまり、 従来ではト ランスファ一部 を銀ペース トで構成しているが、 銀ペース ト中の銀粒子は 5 v. mを 超えた粒子径が加工上の限度である。 しかし、 請求項 11の発明のよ うに、 樹脂粒子の表面をめつきにて金属膜を被覆する構成のトラン スファ一部によれば、 樹脂粒子の直径は例えば 2 m程度まで小さ くでき、 めっきによる金属膜は 1 mも満たない厚さに設定するこ とができ、 従って トランスファ一部全体の直径と してもせいぜい 3 μ m程度にまで小さくすることができ、 シール部の肉厚を 8 μ m以 下に設定する自由度が増加する。
請求項 12に記载の発明では、 配線部をシール部によ り覆われる構 成と したため、 配線部領域がシール部領域と重なるので、 配線部領 域を独立して存在させる必要がない。 このことは、 タツチパネルの タツチスィ ッチ領域 (透明導電膜が形成されている領域) の外周囲 に存在している配線部領域、 シール部領域の面積を小さくできるた め、 いわゆる狭額緣構造を提供することができる。 このことは、 上 記タツチスィ ツチ領域の平面積を同じにした場合、 配線部領域が独 立して存在している場合に比較してタツチパネルのガラス基板の縦 、 横の寸法を小さくでき、 ひいてはタツチパネルを小さくすること ができる。 見方を変えれば、 タツチスィ ッチ領域の平面積を大きく することができるので、 スィッチと しての機能を拡大することがで さる。
請求項 13に記載の発明によれば、 配線部を有機金属化合物の焼成 体によ り構成してあるから、 この有機金属化合物は焼成の過程で有 機物が分解ガスとして排出され、 残存した金属膜は極めて薄く、 1 μ m以下の膜厚になる。
従って、 従来ではタツチパネルの配線部は銀ペース トの焼成物で 構成するのが通常であるが、 この銀ペース トは銀粒子が 5 μ mを超 えるものであり、 このような銀ペース トを用いたのでは、 シール部 の肉厚を 8 μ m以下の範囲に設定できないが、 請求項 13の発明では 、 1 μ m以下の膜厚に設定できる配線部を得ることができるため、 シール部の肉厚を 8 μ m以下に設定することが可能となり、 シール 部を通過しての水分の侵入を回避することができる。
なお、 1 μ πι以下の膜厚の金属膜を形成するには、 真空蒸着、 ス パッタリ ングでも可能であるが、 これらの方法は設備的に大掛かり となる。 これに対して、 請求項 13のように、 有機金属化合物を用い た場合には、 スク リ ーン印刷が可能であり、 従って製造工程が極め て簡単になるという利点もある。
請求項 14の発明は、 請求項:!〜 9で述べた作用効果の全体を奏す ることができる。 このことは、 シール部の肉厚を薄く してタツチパ ネル内部への水分の侵入を回避でき、 しかもタツチパネルのタッチ 領域の動作荷重を、 誤作動を回避しながらタツチ性を損なわない低 動作荷重にするこ とができ、 さらにはシール部の肉厚を薄くするこ とができながらニュートンリ ングの発生を回避することができ、 ま さにタツチパネルと して理想形のものを提供することができる。 請求 ¾15〜: 18の発明は、 請求項 5 , 10, 11, 13に対応する作用効 果を発揮することができる。 従って、 請求項 15~ 18の発明は請求項 14の発明の作用効果をさらに増長させることができる。
請求項 19の発明では、 タツチ領域のガラス基板の外側には、 その ガラス基板の外側の表面で反射する外部光を減衰させる偏光板が、 その表面に直接付設され、 しかも他方のガラス基板の外側の表面は 空気に直接接する構成であるから、 従来のよ うに、 一方のガラス基 板に偏光板、 位相差板を、 他方のガラス基板に位相差板をそれぞれ 付設する場合に比較して外部光の反射減衰効果と しては遜色がない 。 このことは、 位相差板を 2つ省略できるので、 タツチパネル完成 品のコス トを低減できる。
請求項 20の発明においては、 一対のガラス基板の透明導電膜が、 配線部との接続部を除いて全面にて該一対のガラス基板の間に形成 された空間部に直接露出する構成である。 前述したよ うに、 タツチ パネルが、 シール部の肉厚を薄く しながらもタツチ領域のガラス基 板がその外側に向かって凸状となるようにしてあるために、 ニュー トンリ ングの発生し難い構造である。
従来ではニュートンリ ング対策のために、 タツチ領域のガラス基 板と反対側のガラス基板の透明導電膜の上に所定の粒径を有した光 硬化性樹脂からなる多数の ドッ トスぺーサ形成する必要があるが、 請求項 20の発明によれば、 透明導電膜が一対の空間部内に直接露出 していて、 ドッ トスぺーサにより透明導電膜の一部が覆われていな い。 従って、 ドッ トスぺーサの形成が必要でないので、 コス ト低減 に寄与することができる。
請求項 21の発明はタツチパネルの用途を自動車用に特定したもの である。 自動車用タツチパネルとして、 前述の請求項 1〜20で述べ た効果を発揮することができ、 自動車のような高温 · 高湿環境の条 件下においても使用に耐えるタツチパネルの実現が初めて可能とな る。
請求項 22の発明では、 自動車ナビゲーショ ン用ディスプレイの表 示側に配置したものであり、 請求項 21と同様の作用効果を発揮でき ると ともに、 前述したよ うに、 誤作動のない力一ナビゲーシヨ ン用 タツチパネルの実現が可能となる。 また、 前述したように、 本発明 のタツチパネルは、 そのシール部近傍でも低タツチ荷重が可能であ るため、 タツチパネルのシール部近傍にタツチ領域、 つま りスイ ツ チング部を設定することができるので、 スイ ッチング部の量、 即ち 情報量の多いタツチパネルを提供することが可能となる。
請求項 23の発明では、 ディスプレイを液晶ディスプレイに特定し たものであり、 液晶ディスプレイは薄形でコンパク トであり、 本発 明のタツチパネルはシール部肉厚が 8 ja m以下で薄形であるので、 本発明のタツチパネルを液晶ディスプレイに組合せても液晶ディス プレイのコンパク トさをスポイルすることがない。
請求項 24および 25によれば、 本発明のタツチパネルとディスプレ ィ とを組合せた表示装置は、 請求項 23で述ぺたように、 ディスプレ ィのコンパク トさをスポイルしないので、 表示装置全体のコンパク ト化にも貢献することが可能となる。
請求項 26においては、 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明ガラス基 板を、 シール材を介して対向、 配置し、 該シール材を硬化させる以 前に、 一対のガラス基板間のギャップを拡大し、 そして拡大した後 にシール材を硬化させることによ り、 ギヤップの拡大の際に障壁と なるシール材が硬化しておらず、 塑性変形可能であるため、 ギヤッ プ拡大のための一対のガラス基板の変形が邪魔されることがなくな るので、 ギャップの拡大が容易となるとともに、 その拡大後の状態 が維持され、 従ってニュートンリ ングの発生を回避することができ る。 請求項 26では、 一対のガラス基板をシール材を介して押圧する 際に、 該シール材を所定の厚みである 8 μ πι以下までに設定してい るため、 一対のガラス基板間のギャップが均一化され、 一対のガラ ス基板間のギヤップを拡大する過程でガラス基板を膨らむが、 その 膨らむ過程で均一に膨らむことができ、 膨らんだ後のガラス基板表 面にうねりが発生することを回避できる。 従って、 より一層、 ニュ 一トンリ ングの発生を回避することができる。
ここで、 請求項 29のように、 一対のガラス基板の空間部内にガス 体を注入させて一対のガラス基板間のギャップを拡大させることが できる。 この場合、 ガス体の注入時にはシール材が硬化していない ため、 該シール材は硬化した場合に比べて柔軟性が有していて塑性 変形可能であるので、 上記空間部内にガス体を注入する過程でガラ ス基板の膨らみに追従してシール材も塑性変形することになり、 ガ ラス基板は均一に膨らみ、 且つガス体の注入を停止したのちでもそ のガラス基板の膨らみは維持されることになる。 従って、 ガラス基 板の均一な膨らみにより一対のガラス基板間のギヤップが拡大し、 その状態が維持されるため、 ニュートンリ ングの発生を回避するこ とができる。
請求項 30においては、 一対のガラス基板には押圧力を付与しない 状態でその間の空間部内にガス体を注入させていることによ り、 ガ ラス基板の膨らみ時にシール材が塑性変形できなくなるのを回避す ることができる。 このため、 ス トレスなくガラス基板を膨らませる ことができるので、 請求項 26, 29の効果をより発揮させることがで きる。
シール材の硬化時にはガラス基板に圧力を付与しない請求項 31に 記載の方法が望ましい。 即ち、 一且、 ガラズ基板を膨らませてニュ 一トンリ ングの発生が回避された状態のガラス基板に圧力を付与す ると、 ガラス基板にうねりが発生し易くなり、 再びニュー ト ンリ ン グが発生する場合がある。 しかし、 請求項 31のように、 シール材を 硬化時させる際には一対のガラス基板に圧力を付与しない状態で硬 化させることによ り、 ガラス基板にうねりが発生するのを回避する ことができる。
請求項 27の発明によれば、 一対のガラス基板のそれぞれの透明導 電胰を配線部との接続部分を除く全面にて一対のガラス基板の対向 空間部内に直接露出させた状態でタツチパネルを製造するから、 請 求項 20で述べた従来の ドッ トスぺーサを形成する工程を省略してい るので、 タツチパネルの製造工程が簡略化され、 従ってタツチパネ ルの製造コス ト低減に寄与できる。
請求項 28の発明によれば、 特定構造の ト ランスファ一部を用いた タツチパネルの製造方法を開示しており、 請求項 11で述べた作用効 果と同様の作用効果を奏することができる。
Π . 上述の (B) に記载された課題を解決するための手段につい て説明すると、 この解決手段の特徴は次のとおりである。
( 1) 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明絶縁基板を備え、 該一対 の透明絶縁基板を、 それらの間に空間部が形成されるように前記透 明導電膜側にて互いに対向するようシール部を介して配設された構 成を有し、 前記一対の透明絶緣基板のうち一方の透明絶縁基板がタ ツチ領域を有するタツチパネルにおいて、 前記一方の透明絶縁基板 の空気と接する外表面に第 1の光拡散部を備えており、 且つ他方の 透明絶縁基板および前記各透明導電膜の外表面の少なく とも一つの 空気と接する外表面に第 2の光拡散部を備えたことを特徴とするタ ツチパネル。

以下、 これらをさらに詳細に説明する。
上述の ( 1 ) に記載の発明によれば、 タツチ領域を有する一方の 透明絶縁基板の空気と接する外表面に第 1の光拡散部を備えており 、 且つ他方の透明絶縁基板およびこれら透明絶縁性基板の各透明導 電膜の外表面の少なく とも一つの空気と接する外表面に第 2の光拡 散部を備えたことにより、 タツチパネルに入射する外部光はこれら 第 1および第 2の光拡散部により拡散され、 このため外部光がタッ チパネルを操作するオペレータの眼に入力されるのを回避すること ができる。
上述の (2 ) に記載の発明においては、 光拡散部を、 各透明導電 膜の少なく とも一方の前記外表面に備えたものであり、 この構成に よっても上述の ( 1 ) と同じ効果が得られる。 また、 透明導電膜に 光拡散部を備えるため、 透明導電膜の形成時に簡単に光拡散部を作 ることができる。
上述の ( 3 ) に記載の発明によれば、 第 2の光拡散部を、 他方の 透明絶緣基板の外表面に備えているため、 上述の ( 1 ) と同様な効 果を得られる。
上述の (4 ) に記載の発明によれば、 第 2の光拡散部を、 タツチ パネルの全構成の外表面に備えられているため、 外部光の反射抑制 効果は大きい。
上述の ( 5 ) に記載の発明によれば、 凹凸部は光拡散部と して簡 便な構造であり、 効果的に光を拡散できる。
上述の ( 6 ) に記載の発明によれば、 表示光を発する表示器の表 示光出射側の表面に光拡散部を備え、 タツチパネルの表示器と対向 する側の電極基板の表面は直接空気と接し、 且つタツチパネルの表 示光出射側の表面に光拡散部を備えることにより、 タツチパネルの 、 表示器の表示光出射側の表面に入射する外部光は該表面に備えた 光拡散部によって拡散されることになる。 一方、 タツチパネルを通 過して表示器に入射する外部光は表示器の、 表示光出射側の表面に 備えられた光拡散部により拡散され、 再びタツチパネルを通過する ことが抑制される。 従って、 表示器からの表示光に外部光が重畳し て観察者の眼に至ることが抑制されるので、 表示器の表示品位が向 上する。
上述の ( 7 ) に記載の発明によれば、 上述の ( 6 ) において、 表 示器を液晶表示器と し、 該表示器に、 液晶表示のために備えられた 一対の偏光板の内、 表示器からの表示光が出射する側の一方の偏光 板の表面に光拡散部を備え、 かつタツチパネルの他方の電極基板の 表面に光拡散部を備える反射防止板を配置した構成を採用すること により、 タツチパネル表面での外部光の反射を反射防止板で抑制で き、 また表示器の表面での外部光の反射を液晶表示器の偏光板を利 用してそこに光拡散部を備えることで抑制できる。 特に、 上述の ( 7 ) に記載の発明によれば、 上述の ( 6 ) の発明を前提と していて タツチパネルの内、 液晶表示器の表示光出射側に対向する側の電極 基板の表面は、 空気と直接接触した構成であるため、 液晶表示器か らの表示光がタツチパネルに入射し、 該タツチパネルを通過する際 にその表示光が変調されることがなくなるので、 その表示光の品位 が劣化することがなくなる。 従って、 上述の (7 ) に記載の発明に よれば、 外部光の影響を抑制できることに加えて液晶表示器からの 表示光そのものの品位の劣化を抑制することができ、 よって表示光 の劣化をより一層防止することができる。
なお、 上述の ( 7 ) に記載の発明において、 光拡散部は上述の ( 8 ) に記载のよ うに凹凸部によ り構成されていてもよいし、 またタ ッチパネルの反射防止板は偏光板と該偏光板の表示光出射側に形成 された凹凸部とによ り構成されていてもよい。 この場合、 凹凸部は 表示光拡散における対処法として簡便な手法であり、 また効果的に 表示'光を拡散させることができ、 外部光の影響をより一層抑制する ことができる。
また、 上述の ( 9 ) に記載の発明のように、 タツチパネルの反射 防止板と して偏光板を採用することにより、 液晶表示器のコントラ ス トを向上することが出来る。 また、 この場合においては、 上述の ( 10) に記載の発明の如く、 反射防止板の偏光板の吸収軸と液晶表 示器の一方の偏光板の吸収軸とが一致しているこ とがよい。 これに より、 液晶表示器から出射された表示光がタツチパネルの偏光板を 通過する時に該偏光板にてその表示光が吸収されることがなくなり 、 従って表示光の輝度低下を防止できる。
上述の (11) に記載の発明によれば、 偏光板を含めたタツチパネ ルの分光透過率特性を液晶表示器からの表示光出射波長範囲におい て略平坦とし、 その結果、 偏光板を含めたタツチパネルに、 液晶表 示器からの表示光出射波長範囲の全体を透過させる特性を持たせて いるから、 液晶表示器からの表示光の輝度変化、 色度変化を抑制す ることができる。
上述の (12) に記載の発明によれば、 タツチパネルのいずれか一 方の透明電極の空気と接する表面に凹凸部を設けたことにより、 タ ツチパネルの透明電極自体で反射する外部光をその凹 ώ部で拡散さ せることができ、 なお一層の外部光の影響を抑制することができる このよ うな効果は上述の (13) に記載の発明のように、 タツチパ ネルの一方の電極基板の空気と接する表面に凹凸部を設けることに よっても達成することができる。
上述の (14) または (15) に記載の発明のように、 表示光を発す る表示器とタ ツチパネルとを、 それらの間に透明流体または透明接 着剤を介在させた状態で接合し、 タツチパネルの一対の電極基板の 内、 表示光が出射する側の表面に光拡散部を備えた構成としたこと により、 透明流体の屈折率をタツチパネルおよび表示器の透明基板 の屈折率に合せ込むことで、 タツチパネルと表示器との対向部分が 空気層である場合に比較して該透明流体にて外部光の反射を抑制す ることができるし、 タツチパネルの光拡散部によ り外部光の反射を 抑制することができる。
なお、 この場合、 上述の (16) に記載の発明のように、 上述の ( 15) の表示器を液晶表示器として構成した場合には、 光拡散部は、 偏光板と該偏光板の表示光出射側に形成された凹凸部とにより構成 し、 且つ表示器の液晶表示を行う偏光板の内、 タツチパネルと対向 する側に配置されるべき偏光板がタツチパネルに備えられた偏光板 により兼用し、 このタツチパネルの偏光板の吸収軸と液晶表示器の 他方の偏光板の吸収軸とを直交させることがよい。 このようにする ことによ り、 液晶表示器による表示光がタツチパネルを通過する際 にはタッチパネルの偏光板にて液晶表示器の液晶にて捻じられた表 示光がその捻じられた方向を維持した状態でタツチパネルから出射 されるため、 表示光のコントラス トが向上する。 そして、 外部光は 透明流体、 透明接着剤、 偏光板の凹凸部にて拡散されることになり 、 従って、 上述 (16) に記載の発明では、 表示器からの表示光のコ ントラス トを向上した状態で外部光の影響を抑制でき、 品位の高い 表示光を得ることができる。
. 上述の (C ) に記載された課題を解決するための手段につい て説明すると、 この解決手段の特徴は次のとおりである。
(17) 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明絶縁基板を備え、 該一対 の透明絶縁基板を、 それらの間に空間部が形成されるように前記透 明導電膜側にて互いにギャップを隔てて対向するようにシール部を 介して配置した構成を有し、 前記透明絶縁基板の端部のコーナ部に 対応して前記シール部にコーナ部を有するタツチパネルにおいて、 前記一対の透明絶縁基板のうち少なく とも前記端部の前記コーナ 部の対向部分における対向ギャップが、 前記シール部のコーナ部を 境に前記空間部の内側に隣接する部位で広く、 前記空間部の外側に 隣接する部位で相対的に狭くなるように設定されていることを特徵 とするタツチパネル。
(18) 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明絶緣基板を備え、 該一対 の透明絶緣基板を、 それらの間に空間部が形成されるように前記透 明導電膜側にて互いにギヤップを隔てて対向するようにシール部を 介して配置した構成を有し、 前記透明絶縁基板の端部のコーナ部に 対応して前記シール部にコーナ部を有するタツチパネルにおいて、 前記一対の透明絶縁基板のうち少なく とも前記端部の前記コーナ 部の対向部分における対向ギャップが、 前記シール部のコーナ部を 境に前記空間部の内側に隣接する部位で広く、 前記空間部の外側に 隣接する部位で相対的に狭くなるように、 前記シール部の少なく と も前記コーナ部の肉厚がその外周側に対して前記空間部に隣接する 内周側が厚肉とされていることを特徴とするタツチパネル。

以下、 これらをさ らに詳細に説明する。
上述の (17) に記載の発明によれば、 透明導電膜を配設した一対 の透明絶縁基板を備え、 該一対の透明絶縁基板を、 それらの間に空 間部が形成されるように前記透明導電膜側にて互いにギャップを隔 てて対向するようにシール部を介して配置した構成を有し、 前記透 明絶縁基板の端部のコーナ部に対応して前記シール部にコーナ部を 有するタツチパネルであり、 前記一対の透明絶縁基板の少なく とも 前記端部の前記コーナ部の対向部分における対向ギヤップを、 前記 シール部のコーナ部を境に前記空間部の内側に隣接する部位で広く 、 前記空間部の外側に隣接する部位で相対的に狭くなるように設定 したことによ り、 シール部のコーナ部で顕著に発生するニュー トン リ ングを回避することができる。
上述の (18) に記載の発明によれば、 シール部の少なく ともコ ー ナ部の肉厚がその外周側に対して内周側が厚肉とされているから、 このような構造にシール部を採用することで、 効果的に前記一対の 透明絶縁基板の少なく とも前記端部の前記コーナ部の対向部分にお ける対向ギャップを、 前記シール部のコーナ部を境に前記空間部の 内側に隣接する部位で広く、 前記空間部の外側に隣接する部位で相 対的に狭くすることができる。 この結果、 シール部のコーナ部で顕 著に発生するニュー トンリ ングを回避することができる。 また、 こ の (18) に記載の発明によれば、 シール部の肉厚を所定の肉厚とす ることで簡易にコーナ部の対向ギヤップを拡大するこ とができる。 上述の (19) に記載の発明によれば、 シール部の少なく ともコー ナ部の斬面形状をほぼクサビ形状と したので、 対向ギヤップが連続 的に拡大することになるので、 一層、 ニュートンリ ングの発生を回 避することができる。
上述の (20) および (21) に記載の発明によれば、 シール部のコ 一ナ部は勿論のこと、 他の部位も含めて透明絶緣基板全体の範囲に て対向ギヤップが拡大されているので、 タツチパネル全体でのニュ 一トンリ ングの発生が殆どまたはないタツチパネルを提供すること ができる。
なお、 上述の (22) に記載の発明のように、 一方の絶縁基板が空 間部の内側から外側に向けて凸状に膨らんだ形状を有することで、 より効果的にニュートンリ ングの発生を回避することができる。 また、 上述の (23) の発明のように、 一対の透明絶縁基板をガラ ス基板から構成しても上述の効果を奏することができる。
なお、 従来例として特開平 6—44863 号公報には、 外周のシール 部にクサビ状のスぺーサまたはセパレータを設け、 該スぺーサまた はセパレータを両面テープと してこれらの上下に絶縁基板を貼り付 けるという構成が開示されている。 この従来例では、 クサビ状のス ぺーサまたはセパレータによ り、 上下の絶縁基板の対向ギヤップを 拡大してその上下の絶縁基板に設けられている透明導電腠どう しの 短絡を防ぐことを課題とするものである。 しかし、 上下絶縁基板の 端部のコーナ部はクサビ状が不連続となり、 このコーナ部ではクサ ビ状のスぺーサまたはセパレータを配置することができない。 この ため、 コーナ部では一対の絶縁基板の対向ギャップを、 シール部の コーナ部を境に空間部の内側に隣接する部位で広く、 前記空間部の 外側に隣接する部位で相対的に狭くなるように設定することはでき ないのであり、 本発明とは思想の全く異なるものであることをここ で述べておく。
次に、 上述の (24) に記載の発明によれば、 透明導電膜を配設し た一対の透明絶縁基板を、 シール部を介して対向、 配置し、 該シー ル部を硬化させる以前に、 一対の絶縁基板間のギヤップを拡大し、 そして拡大した後にシール部を硬化させることによ り、 ギャップの 拡大の際に障壁となるシール部が硬化しておらず、 塑性変形可能で あるため、 ギヤップ拡大のための一対のガラス基板の変形が邪魔さ れることがなくなるので、 ギャップの拡大が容易となるとともに、 その拡大後の状態が維持され、 従ってニュートンリ ングの発生を回 避することができる。
ここで、 上述の (25) に記載の発明のように、 一対の絶縁基板の 空間部内にガス体を注入させて一対の絶縁基板間のギヤップを拡大 させることができる。 この場合、 ガス体の注入時にはシール部が硬 化していないため、 該シール部は硬化した場合に比べて柔軟性が有 していて塑性変形可能であるので、 上記空間部内にガス体を注入す る過程で絶縁基板の膨らみに追従してシール部も塑性変形すること になり、 絶縁基板は均一に膨らみ、 且つガス体の注入を停止したの ちでもその絶緣基板の膨らみは維持されることになる。 従って、 絶 縁基板の均一な膨らみにより一対の絶緣基板間のギヤップが拡大し 、 その状態が維持されるため、 ニュートンリ ングの ¾生を回避する ことができる。
ここで、.上述の (26) に記.載の発明のように、 一対の絶縁基板を シール部を介して押圧する際に、 該シール部を所定の厚みまで潰す ことにより、 一対の絶縁基板間のギャップが均一化されるため、 そ の後にガス体を空間部内に注入して絶縁基板を膨らませる過程でそ の均一な膨らみが一層助長され、 膨らんだ後の絶縁基板表面にうね りが発生するこ とを回避できる。 従って、 より一層、 ニュートンリ ングの発生を回避することができる。
また、 絶縁基板を膨らませた後にシール部を硬化させた状態にお いてもなお絶縁基板の表面に若干のうねりが生じてニュートンリ ン グが発生する場合には、 上述の (27) に記載の発明のように、 シー ル部の硬化後に、 一対の絶縁基板間の空間部内に更にガス体を注入 させるという方法により、 絶縁基板を更に膨らませて上記のうねり を矯正することが可能となり、 従ってシール部硬化後に発見された ニュー ト ンリ ングの発生を解消することが可能となる。
上述の (28) に記載の発明においては、 一対の絶縁基板には押圧 力を付与しない状態でその間の空間部内にガス体を注入させている ことにより、 絶縁基板の膨らみ時にシール部が塑性変形できなくな るのを回避することができる。 このため、 ス ト レスなく絶縁基板を 膨らませることができるので、 上述の (25) , (26) の効果をよ り 発揮させることができる。
シール部の硬化時には絶縁基板に圧力を付与しない上述の (29) に記載の方法が望ましい。 即ち、 一旦、 絶縁基板を膨らませてニュ 一トンリ ングの発生が回避された状態の絶縁基板に圧力を付与する と、 絶縁基板にうねりが発生し易くなり、 再びニュートンリ ングが 発生する場合がある。 しかし、 この (13) に記載の発明のよ うに、 シール部を硬化時させる際には一対の絶縁基板に圧力を付与しない 状態で硬化させることによ り、 絶縁基板にうねりが発生するのを回 避することができる。 なお、 シール部と して、 上述の (14) に記載の発明のように熱硬 化型樹脂を包含したものを用いる場合、 該シール部の硬化時には一 対の絶縁基板に熱のみを付与して圧力は付与しない方法が適する。 一対の絶縁基板間のギャップを拡大する方法と しては、 上述の ( 24) に従属する上述の (31) に記載の発明のように、 一対の絶縁基 板の內、 タツチ領域を有する一方の絶縁基板の前記タツチ領域を除 外して、 シール部に対応する箇所に圧力を付与して該箇所を、 シー ル部を所定の厚みまで潰すように変形させることによ り、 結果と し て一対の絶縁基板のギヤップのうち、 相対的にタツチ領域のギヤッ プがシール近傍に比較して拡大された状態とする方法がある。
この方法においても、 シール部は硬化前であるため、 上記一方の 絶縁基板を変形させる段階において該シール部が塑性変形すること になるので、 該一方の絶縁基板の変形が可能となり、 従って一対の 絶緣基板間のギャップを拡大することが可能となる。 この結果、 二 ユートンリ ングの発生を回避することができる。
この場合、 上述の (32) に記載の発明のように、 シール部を硬化 させる時には上記一方の絶縁基板の内、 タツチ領域を除外してシー ル部に対応する箇所に圧力を付与した状態で硬化を行なってもよい 。 シール部に対する圧力付与により、 シール性を向上するこ とがで きる。 なお、 この場合、 タツチ領域には圧力が付与されないため、 一方の絶縁基板に圧力を付与するこ とによるうねりが発生しないの で、 ニュートンリ ングが発生することが回避される。
上述の (33) に記載の発明においては、 一対の絶縁基板の内、 タ ッチ領域側の一方の絶縁基板は他方の絶縁基板に比較して肉厚を薄 く設定し、 該肉厚が薄く設定された前記一方の絶縁基板側から圧力 を付与しているため、 絶縁基板の変形が容易となり、 一対の絶縁基 板間のギャップ拡大化に支障がない。 上述の (34) に記載の発明のように、 一対の透明絶縁基板をガラ ス基板により構成することにより、 上述の (24) 〜 (33) に記載の 発明と同様の効果を奏することができる。 図面の簡単な説明

〔実施形態 1〕
図 1〜図 6は実施形態 1 を示すものである。 図 1 において、 1 は タツチパネルであり、 該タツチパネル 1は、 図 16に示すように、 力 一ナビゲーショ ン用液晶表示器 Dの表示側に配置されている。 該タ ツチパネル 1 は、 図 1のように、 液晶表示器 Dの表示状態を変える スィ ツチと して用いられ、 一対のガラス基板 1 a , 2 aがシール部 3を介して互いに対向して空間部 8を形成するようにして接着、 固 定された構成である。
—方のガラス基板 1 aはタツチパネル 1の操作者が指先で操作す るタツチ領域を有しており、 このタツチ領域を操作することで弾性 変形によ り微小に可動するようになっている。 また、 他方のガラス 基板 2 aは上記液晶表示器 Dの表示側に固定されるものである。 ガラス基板 1 a , 2 aは例えば硼珪酸鉛ガラス材料から構成され ており、 一方のガラス基板 1 aは肉厚が 0. 4職で、 他方のガラス基 板 2 aは肉厚が 1. 1mmにより構成されている。
ガラス基板 1 aには透明導電膜 1 bが、 ガラス基板 2 aには透明 導電膜 2 bがそれぞれ形成されている。 ガラス基板 1 aの透明導電 膜 1 bは図 4に示すように長方形状を有している。 そして、 ガラス 基板 1 aには、 透明導電膜 1 bの対向する 2辺 (図 4では左右端部 ) に相当する部位に電気的に接続されるように、 配線部 4が形成さ れている。 また、 ガラス基板 2 aの透明導電膜 2 bも図 5に示すよ うに長方形状を有しており、 ガラス基板 2 aには透明導電膜 2 bの 対向する 2辺 (図 5では上下端部) に相当する部位に電気的に接続 されるように、 配線部 5が形成されている。
ガラス基板 2 aには、 配線技部 50 a、 配線枝部 50 b、 配線枝部 50 c、 配線枝部 50 d、 配線枝部 50 e、 対をなす端子部 10 a, 10 b、 対 をなす端子部 20 a, 20 bが形成されている。
配線部 5のうち図 5の上側の配線部 5は配線技部 50 bを介して端 子部 10 bに電気的に接続され、 下側の配線部 5は配線枝部 50 aを介 して端子部 10 aに電気的に接続されている。 端子部 10 a, 10 b , 20 a , 20 bは電源供給用の電気コネクタ (図示しない) が電気的に接 続されるものである。
配線枝部 50 c, 50 dほガラス基板 1 a とガラス基板 1 b とを重ね 合わせた際に、 ガラス基板 1 aの右側の配線部 4 (図 4参照) を端 子部 20 aに、 また配線枝部 50 eは左側の配線部 4を端子部 20 bにそ れぞれ電気的に接続するものである。 これらの電気的接繞はトラン スファ一部 6によ り達成されている。 即ち、 ガラス基板 1 a の右側 の配線部 4 (図 4参照) とガラス基板 2 aの配線枝部 50 e との間、 およびガラス基板 1 aの左側の配線部 (図 4参照) とガラス基板 2 aの配線枝部 50 c との間が トランスファー部 6を挟持して電気的に 接続されている。
ト ランスファ一部 6は榭脂粒子 6 a と該樹脂粒子 6 a の表面にめ りきにより形成された金属膜 6 b とにより構成されている。 なお、 トランスファー部 6は上記構成の導電粒子 ( 6 a, 6 b ) を上記シ ール部 3 と同じ材料からなる保持材料中に添加してディスペンサを 使用して上記部位に対応する位置に形成されている。 この保持材料 によ り構成されたものを保持体 9 と して示す。
ところで、 図 2および図 3に示すように、 ト ランスファ一部 6の 肉厚、 配線部 4、 および配線部 50 cの積算肉厚を t 1 と し、 シール 部 3の肉厚を t 2 と した場合、 t 1 > t 2 の関係を満足するように 設定されている。 このような関係により、 図 1に示すように、 タツ チパネルのガラス基板 1 aが、 その外側に向けて ώ状に膨らんだ太 鼓状とされている。
一対のガラス ¾板 l a, 2 aは、 その透明導電膜 1 b, 2 bが対 向するよ うに且つそれらの間にギヤップを介して空間部 8が形成さ れるように、 シール部 3を介して重ね合わされて接着され、 固定さ れている。
シール部 3はタツチパネルの製造過程においては、 ガラス基板 2 aの外周縁部、 即ち透明導電膜 2 b、 上下配線部 5、 配線枝部 50 b , 50 cの外側に配置されており、 一個所に封入口 3 aが形成され、 該封入口 3 aは封止剤 30にて封止されている。
シール部 3は 65°C、 95% Rhの条件において透湿率が 4. 12 x 10— 1 2 g - cm/ cm2 - sec · cniHgの値を有する熱硬化型樹脂であるェポキ シ榭脂から構成され、 封止剤 30は 65°C、 95 % Rhの条件化における透 湿率 4. 35 Χ ΚΓ 1 1 g - cm/ cm2 - sec · cmHgの値を有する UV硬化型 のァク リル樹脂から構成されている。 タツチパネルの外周をシール するシール部 3の全長は約 532mmであり、 封入口 3 aは幅が 4 mmな ので封止剤 30の透湿率は無視できる。 シール部 3の内部には、 図 3 に示すように、 直径 3 μ m程度のスぺーサ粒子 7、 例えばシリカス ぺーサやガラスフアイパーが混入してある。 なお、 図 1において、 シール部 3の肉厚は 3 w m、 ガラス基板 1 a, 2 a間の最大ギヤップは 10 μ mに設定されている。
ところで、 タツチパネル 1 のガラス基板 1 aの外側の表面には偏 光板 10が貼り付けてある。 この偏光板 10はタツチパネル 1に入射し よう とする外部光を減衰させるものである。 なお、 他方のガラス基 板 2 aの外側の表面は空気に直接、 露出している。
〔実施形態 1 の変形例〕
図 7および図 8は実施形態 1 の変形例を示すものであり、 この変 形例では一対のガラス基板 1 a, 2 aの間の空間部 8が実施形態 1 のよ うに膨らませていないものである点が実施形態 1 と相違するの みで、 他の構成は実施形態と同じである。
変形例におけるシール部 3、 配線部 4 , 5、 配線枝部 50 a〜50 e の相対的な位置は図 7および図 8に示すようである。 図 7は図 8の W— W断面図であり、 図 8は一対のガラス基板 l a , 2 aを重ね合 わせた状態においてガラス基板 1 a側から見た投影図である。
[実施形態 2〕
図 9〜図 11は実施形態 2を示すものである。 この実施形態 2にお いては、 実施形態 1における配線部 4, 5、 配線枝部 50 b, 50 c を シール部 3により覆われるように設定するようにしたものである点 が実施形態 1 と相違するのみで、 他の構成は実施形態と同じである 。 なお、 実施形態 2では、 実施形態 1のように、 タツチ領域側のガ ラス基板 1 aの太鼓状の膨らみ形状の図示は省略してある。
具体的には、 特に、 図 9およ ·び図 10に示すように、 配線部 4 , 5 、 配線技部 50 b, 50 c をシール部 3内に埋め込むことにより、 タツ チパネルのタツチスィ ッチ領域外周に存在する配線部 4 , 5、 配線 枝部 50 b , 50 cの領域およびシール部の領域の面積を小さく してい わゆる狭額縁構造と したものである。 この実施形態 2によれば、 配線部 4 , 5、 配線枝部 50 b, 50 cの 領域がシール部 3の領域と重なるため、 配線部 4, 5、 配線枝部 50 b , 50c としての独立した領域を廃止するごとができる。
実施例 1
次に、 上記実施形態 1のタツチパネルの製造方法について説明す る。 図 12は製造方法の工程フローを示すもので、 該工程フローを援 用しながら説明する。 工程 Aにおいて、 それぞれ透明導電膜 l b, 2 bが予め形成されたガラス基板 1 a (板厚 0.4mm) とガラス基板 2 a (板厚 l.lmin) を用意し、 それぞれのガラス基板 1 a, l bに 有機金属化合物を用いた配線部 4 , 50a ~50e、 端子部 10a, 10b , 20 a , 20bをスク リーン印刷によ り印刷する。 印刷後の厚みは約 10μ m程度と した。
ここで、 有機金属化合物は脂肪酸銀とァミンとの配位構造物に有 機酸が混合されたものから調製されている。 具体的には、 脂肪酸銀 35%〜45%、 ジヒ ドロ タ一ビネオール 10% ~20%、 1, 2—ジアミ ノシク ロへキサン 10%〜20%、 シク 口へキサンカノレポン酸 10%〜 20 %、 酢酸 1 %〜10%、 無水フタル酸 1 %~ 5 %の組成から構成され ている。 脂肪酸銀は R-C00Ag で示され、 その Rはアルキル基から構 成され、 メチル基、 ェチル基、 プロ ピル基等が挙げられ、 実施例で は、 ナミ ツタス株式会社製の品名 XE102- 25を用いた。
次に、 工程 Bにおいて、 配線部 4、 配線枝部 50a〜50e、 端子部 10a , 10b , 20a , 20b , 5が形成された各ガラス基板 1 a , 2 a を 150°Cで 10分で乾燥後、 280°Cで 60分で焼成する。 これらの乾燥 、 焼成工程によ り脂肪酸銀の配位化合物が分解し、 銀が析出する。 また、 アミンゃ有機酸、 脂肪酸が分解ガス と して排出される結果、 焼成後の配線部 4、 配線枝部 50a〜50e、 端子部 10a, 10b , 20a ·, 20bの肉厚は断面方向において約 1 mとなり、 比抵抗は 8 XI 0— 6 Ω · cmとなった。
次に、 工程 Cにおいて、 一方のガラス基板 2 aの外周囲に封入口 3 aを残してシール部 3をスク リ ーン印刷によ り形成した。 シール 部 3の材料は、 65°C、 95%Rhの条件において透湿率が 4.12X10-12 g . cm/cm2 · sec · cmHgの値を有する.熱硬化型のエポキシ樹脂に シリ カスぺーサを混合させたものであり、 本実施例では三井化学製 のス トラク トポンド (商標) XN- 31A-Aに、 宇部日東化成製のハイプ レシ力 (商標) N3N (粒径 2.8/ζ πι) を 0.8wt%添加したものを用い た。
工程 Dでは、 ガラス基板 2 aに、 図 5に示すように、 トランスフ ァ一部 6を形成した。 このトランスファ一部 6は、 榭脂粒子の表面 に金めつきした構成の導電粒子 (粒径 3.5μ ηι) 2wt%を上記シー ル部 3の材料に添加してなる ト ランスファー材をガラス基板 2 aに デイスペンサを使用して塗布した。 なお、 導電粒子は、 積水化学製 のミクロパール (商標) AU-2035(金めつき) を用いた。
工程 Eにおいて、 一対のガラス基板 l a, 2 aを重ね合わせ、 ェ 程 Fにおいて、 該一対のガラス基板 l a, 2 aを治具により 0.1〜 3 Kg/ cm2 の圧力で押圧した。 これによ り、 シール部 3はその全周 囲に亘つて均一に厚み約 3 ix mまで潰される。
工程 Fを実行した後は一対のガラス基板 l a , 2 aが互いに張り 付いた状態となるため、 ガラス基板 1 aから目視した状態ではニュ 一トンリ ングが全面に発生していた。
そこで、 工程 Gにおいて、 一対のガラス基板 l a , 2 aの間に空 気を注入する。 即ち、 シール材 3の封入口 3 aから 5 Kg/cm2 の吐 出圧に設定されたエアーを注入機 (図示しない) を'介してガラス基 板 l a, 2 a間の空間部 8内に注入し、 エアーの注入を停止する。 これにより、 張り付いた状態の一対のガラス基板 1 a, 2 aはエア 一により剥がれ、 ニュートンリ ングが消失した。
このエアーを注入した後の状態は、 図 1 のように、 一対のガラス 基板 1 a , 2 a間のギヤップは中央部が大きく、 周辺部が小さくな り、 ガラス基板 1 aが太鼓状となった。 なお、 ガラス基板 1 aの板 厚が薄いので、 ガラス基板 1 a側が膨らんだ状態を示すが、 この図 1は膨らんだ状態を分かり易くするため、 その状態を誇張して示し ている。
この太鼓状の形状は、 前述したように、 トランスファ一部 6の部 分における積算肉厚 t 1 とシール部 3の肉厚 t 2 との関係が t 1 > t 2を満足することで達成される。 なお、 エアーの注入を停止した 後でも図 1の状態は維持されていた。
次に、 工程 Hにおいて、 一対のガラス基板 l a , 2 aを炉中 (図 示しない) に配置し、 150°Cで 1時間、 放置し、 シール部 3を熱硬 化させた。 なお、 工程 Hでは一対のガラス基板 1 a , 2 aのシール 部材 3の部分には圧力を付与しなかった。
シール部 3の硬化が完了後に一対のガラス基板 l a , 2 aを炉中 から取出し、 室温まで自然冷却後、 一対のガラス基板 1 a, 2 aを 調査した結果、 シール部 3が硬化する前の太鼓状の形状をそのまま 維持していた。 この時、 ニュートンリ ングの発生は確認されなかつ た。
次に、 工程 I において、 シール部 3の封入口 3 aにはスリーボン ド製の UV硬化型ァク リル樹脂 (3052B)からなる封止剤 30を塗布し、 UVを照射 (積算光量 lOOOmJZ cm2 )して該封止剤 30を硬化した。
以上の工程によ り、 タツチパネルが完成する。
次に、 各種実験例により、 本発明の優位性を説明する。
実験例 1
上述の工程 A〜 Iにより製造した、 実施例 1の構造を有するタッ チパネルを 65°C、 95% Rhの高温、 高湿環境下に放置したところ、 10 OOHr後においてもタッチパネルと しての正常な動作を示していた。 タッチパネルを分解したが、 一対のガラス基板間の空間部内には水 分の侵入は認められず、 透明導電膜、 各配線部の腐食も認められな かった。
比較例 1
従来例について、 説明すると、 基本的には図 12に示した工程に基 いてタツチパネルを製造したが、 シール部の肉厚を 20 mと し、 各 配線部を 5 μ mの銀粒子を有する銀ペース トの焼成体とし、 さらに トランスファ一部を 5 μ mの銀粒子を有するペース ト状物をディス ペンサ一にて塗布した点が実施例 1 と相違するのみである。
この比較例 1 によるタツチパネルを実験例 1 と同様に 65°C、 95% Rhという高温高湿環境下に放置した結果、 400Hrでタッチパネルの 動作不良が発生した。 このタツチパネルを分解したところ、 一対の ガラス基板の透明導電膜、 各配線部に部分的に腐食が認められた。 このこ とは、 一対のガラス基板間の空間内に水分が侵入したことを 物語っている。
実験例 2
タッチパネルのタッチ領域側のガラス基板の動作荷重を 20gf〜20 Ogf に設定した場合において、 そのタツチ領域側のガラス基板の板 厚とシール部の肉厚との関係で動作荷重がどのように変化するかを 実験した。 その結果を図 13〜図 15に示す。
実験に供したタツチパネルは実施例 1 の製造方法により製造した ものであり、 サイズと しては対角 6インチサイズとした。
図 13〜15は、 そのタツチパネルにおいて、 横軸にシール部の肉厚 を、 縦軸にその時の動作荷重をプロッ ト し、 タツチ領域側のガラス 基板の板厚を 0. 2M1 , 0. 4mm , 0. 55mmに設定した場合、 その動作荷重 がシール部の肉厚によって、 どのように変化するかを示したグラフ である。
なお、 動作荷重の上限と下限の規格は、 特開平 10— 133817に開示 されている動作荷重の上限値 (200gf )と車载環境における誤動作限 界値 20gfを下限とした。 (110gf± 90gf)
図 13によれば、 ガラス基板の板厚を 0. 2廳に設定した場合は、 動 作荷重 20gf〜200gf を得るには、 シール部の肉厚が 7 μ π!〜 8 μ m であることがわかる。 つまり、 動作荷重が最大となるシール部近傍 が 200gf以下で、 動作荷重が最小となるタツチェリア中央領域が 20 gf以上となるギャップが 7 μ π!〜 8 /x mであるという ことである。 図 14はタツチ領域側のガラス基板に板厚 0. 4mm、 ヤング率 73000 Okgf/ cm2 のソーダガラス基板と、 板厚 0, 4mm、 ヤング率約 75000 Okgf/ cm2 の無アルカリガラス基板とを使用した場合の結果である 。 図 14から理解されるように、 シール部の肉厚が 8 ; m以下であれ ば、 動作荷重の上限値と下限値とを共にほぼ満足出来ることがわか る。
図 15はガラス基板の板厚を 0. 55mmに設定した場合の結果である。 動作荷重の上限値が 200gfを下回るためにはシール部の肉厚を 1 μ m以下にする必要があり、 製造過程で発生した異物等による一対の ガラス基板の各透明導電膜のショー トや、 ニュートンリ ング等の不 具合が発生するため、 実現不可であることがわかる。
なお、 ガラス基板の肉厚が 0. 3腿のデータが無いが、 原理的には 0. 2πηηと 0. 4miaの中間に位置することが予測できるため、 実験して いない。
また、 図 13〜図 15の結果はタツチパネ が 6ィ ンチサイズのもの であるが、 動作荷重が若干上下 (タツチパネルサイズが小さくなる と高く、 大きくなると小さく) するもののタツチパネルサイズが 4 インチ〜 8インチの範囲内においては、 大きく変化せず 6インチサ ィズの結果を適用できる事は確認済みである。
実施例 2
実施例 2は実施例 1のシール部および封止剤の材料と して、 UV照 射よ り短時間で硬化するァク リル変性のエポキシ接着剤 (透湿率 8. 26 X 10" 1 2 g - cm/ cm2 · sec · cmHg) を使用した点が異なるのみ で、 実施例 1 と同様な製造方法によ り タツチパネルを製造した。 その結果、 65°C 95 % Rhの高温高湿の環境下で、 lOOOHr後におい ても実施例 1のタツチパネルと同様に問題ないことを確認した。 なお、 硬化型接着剤の接着力は、 接着面の清浄度に敏感である (汚れ程度によ り、 接着力が敏感に変化する) ため、 実施例 1 のよ うに、 熱硬化型のエポキシ接着剤を使用することが好ましい。 . 実施例 3
実施例 3はシール部 3の透湿率について測定したものである。 結 果を表 1に示す。 表 1の材料は 65°C 95% Rhの条件に放置した場合 、 透湿率が最も低い値を示すのは熱硬化型エポキシ系であることが わ力 る n
表 1において、 透湿率は以下の式により求められるものである

タッチパネルの一対のガラス基板が或る断面積のシール部で接着 された場合において、 タツチパネルの空間部と外側の水分圧がそれ ぞれ Pin, Pout の場合に、 その空間部内に入ってく る水分量が上記 式で求まる。 この式から理解されるように、 水分量はシール部の肉 厚 b Xシール部の長さ cに比例し、 幅 aに反比例することが理解で きる。 従って、 c と a を固定した場合、 シール部の肉厚 bに比例す ることになり、 シール部の肉厚 bがタツチパネルの空間部内に侵入 する水分量に支配的にかかわつていることが理解できる。
実施例 4
実施例 4は実施形態 2の製造方法を示すものである。 製造工程は 図 12に示した実施形態 1 の製造方法と同様であるが、 変更点は工程 Aの配線材の印刷位置と工程 Cのシール材の印刷形状である。 以下 の説明は、 この変更点についてのみ行う。
即ち、 工程 Aにおいては、 配線材の位置は、 シール材の印刷位置 とした。
次に工程 Cにおけるシール材の形状は図 10に示すよ うに、 基板 1 a , 2 aを重ね合わせた時に配線材の幅を完全に覆う ような形状と した。
具体的には、 図 11のように、 配線材の雨脇にシ一ル材を印刷し、 基板 1 a, 2 aを重ね合わせた時に配線材の幅を完全に覆うよ うな 形状となるよ うに印刷した。 配線材上にシール材を印刷すると、 ト ランスファー材が他方の基板との接続を行うための接触部にシール 材が入り込み、 基板 l a, 2 a間の電気的接続が行われなくなる不 具合が発生する。 '
本実施例 4では配線材の両脇にシール材を印刷し、 工程 Eにて重 ね合わせた時、 シール材が潰れて配線材を覆う ような構造と した ( 図 11) 。
このよ う に、 配線材とシール材との印刷位置を調整した後、 実施 例 1 と同様に図 12の工程を実施した。
この実施例 4により製造されたタツチパネルを実施例 1 と同一の 高温、 高湿環境下に放置したところ、 実施例 1 と同一の結果が得ら れた。
〔その他の実施形態〕
本発明は上記実施形態に限定されず、 各配線部、 端子部を構成す る有機金属化合物の金属としては Agを用いたが、 Au, であっても 勿論よい。
また、 有機金属化合物を含む調合材と しては、 有機金属化合物、 ァミ ン、 有機酸の組合せを包含するものであればよく、 有機金属化 合物が脂肪酸と金属との結合されたものに限定されるものではない また、 一対のガラス基板 1 a, 2 a間に注入するガス体と しては 、 エアーの他に不活性ガスでも勿論よい。
次に、 以下の実施形態 3〜: 11および "その他の形態" は前述の ( B ) に記載された課題を解決するためのものである。
〔実施形態 3〕
図 17は本発明のタツチパネル付き液晶表示装置を断面から見た図 である。 11はタツチパネルであり、 12は表示光を発する液晶表示器 である。 液晶表示器 12の表示光出射側にタツチパネル 11が固定され ている。 図 17はタツチパネル 11と液晶表示器 12との関係を明確化す るために両者の固定状態を離して示してある。
タツチパネル 11は液晶表示器 12の表示状態を変えるスィ ツチと し て用いられる公知の構成であり、 一対の電極基板 ll a, li bを有し ており、 該電極基板 11 a, li bは透明なガラス基板と電極 11 c と、 これら電極基板 11 a, li bを固定する外周シール 19によ り構成され ている。 タツチパネル 11の表示光出射側には偏光板 13が貼り付けて ある。 この偏光板 3は液晶表示部 2の表示光のコントラス トを向上 するためのものである。
液晶表示器 12は公知の構成であり、 一対の電極基板: 12 a, 12 b と 、 これらの間を固定する外周シール 110 と、 一対の電極基板 12 a, 12 bの間に充填された液晶と、 パックライ ト 18とから構成されてい る。 液晶表示器 12の一対の電極基板 12 a, 12 bのそれぞれには偏光 板 16, 17が貼り付けられている。 この偏光板 16, 17は液晶表示する ために必要なものであり、 その吸収軸は互いに直交しており、 その 結果、 一対の電極基板 12 a, 12 bに通電した場合には黒表示となり 、 非通電時 (または低電圧時) には白表示となる。 なお、 このタツ チパネル 1側に入射した表示光がタッチパネルを通過して観察者の 眼に至るよ うに、 タツチパネル 11の偏光板 13の吸収軸は液晶表示器 2の偏光板 16の吸収軸と一致させてある (図 21参照) 。 このよ うな 構成によ り、 タツチパネル 11を表示光が通過した後の表示光の量が 低下するのを防止できる。
ところで、 本実施形態 3においては、 タツチパネル 11の偏光板 13 および液晶表示器 12の偏光板 16の表面には、 光拡散部としての、 へ ィズ値 (曇値) が 7 %のアンチグレア処理による凹凸部 13 a, 16 a が形成されている。
このよ うに、 偏光板 13, 16にアンチグレア処理による凹凸部 13 a , 16 aを形成することによ り、 タツチパネル 11に外部光が入射した 場合の液晶表示器 12の表示光の品位の劣化、 つま り外部光の反射光 によ り表示光が見にく くなるのを防止することができる。
本発明者らは、 本発明の案出過程で、 特に環境的に厳しい自動車 にタツチパネル付き液晶表示器を搭載し、 液晶表示器にて地図を表 示した場合において、 外部光の入射時の反射率と液晶表示器の表示 劣化との関係について、 男女 20名のモニターによ り実験した結果、 反射率は 5. 0%以下であれば満足出来るというこ とが分かった。
図 18は、 本実施形態 3の偏光板付きタツチパネル 1単体での外部 光の反射率を測定したデータであり、 反射率は、 3. 7%となった。 また、 このタツチパネル 11を液晶表示器 12の前面に配置した時の表 示装置全体の系における反射率は 4. 6%となり、 上記基準を満足す ることができた。
ここで、 比較例として、 液晶表示器の表示光出射側偏光板 16の表 面に上記のアンチグレア処理による凹凸部 16 aが形成されていない 偏光板を有するタツチパネル 1単体での外部光の反射率を測定した 結果、 6. 1 %となり 5 %以下を満足しないこ とがわかった。
次に、 液晶表示器 12の偏光板 16を省いた表示装置全体の系で外部 光の反射率を測定した結果、 反射率が 7. 9%と高くなることがわか た。 これは、 液晶表示器 2の表示光出射側の電極基板 12 aの反射率 が高いからであると考えられる。
以上のことから、 液晶表示器 12の前面にタツチパネル 11を配置し た表示装置において、 外部光の反射率を 5 %以下とするには、 液晶 表示器 12の偏光板 16およびタッチパネル 11の儒光板 13の凹凸部 16 a , 13 aの採用は必要である。
ところで、 液晶表示器 12からの表示光がタツチパネル 11を通過し た場合、 その表示光の色度が変化することは表示光の品位という点 で好ましくない。
図 19は液晶表示器 12で白表示した場合の相対透過率特性を示すも のである。 図 19から明らかなように、 液晶表示器 12から出射される 表示光の波長は 420mi!〜 630nm であり (これはパックライ ト 18の発 表示光スペク トルに依存する) 、 この間の波長がタツチパネル 11を 透過して観察者の眼に画像と して認識されるため、 偏光板付きタッ チパネル 11の分光透過率特性はこの波長においてフラッ トであるこ とが望ましい。 つまり、 特定波長のみ透過率が低かったり、 高かつ たりすると、 液晶表示器: 12の表示色が変化することになる。
図 20は、 本第 1の実施形態の偏光板付きタツチパネル 11の分光透 過率特性を示したものである。 420nm〜630nm で平均値が 34%、 最 大値が 35%、 最小値が 32%と非常にフラッ トであることが分かる。
なお、 表示光の輝度変化だけを考慮した場合は、 平均値を 100% とした場合、 ±30%以内であれば良いが、 表示光の色変化までを考 慮すると、 ±10%以内であることが望ましいことがわかった。
〔実施形態 4〕
図 22は実施形態 3で示したタッチパネル 11の構造において、 さら に外部光の反射率を低減する構成と して、 電極基板 11 a, libの透 明電極 11 c, 11 dの表面に凹凸部を設けた実施形態 4を示すもので ある。
透明電極 (ITO)llc , lidの屈折率は 2.0 前後であり、 電極基板 11a , libにおけるガラス基板の屈折率は 1.6 前後である。 従って 、 外部光の反射の要因と しては、 透明電極 11 c , li d と空気 112 が 接している界面が大きいという ことが明らかである。 そこで、 本実 施形態 4では、 空気 112 と接している透明電極 11 c と lidの面に凹 凸部を設けるこ とによ り、 反射率を低減したものである。
ところで、 実施形態 4におけるタツチパネルの作製方法としては 、 予め、 透明電極 lie , lidの表面にシリカ (Si02) やアルミナ ( A1203 )の微粒子を高速で吹き付けるシヨ ッ トプラス ト (サンドプラ ス ト) 法で凹凸部を設け、 この透明電極基板 lla, libのどちらか 一方に外周シール 19を塗布した後に、 両基板を重ね合わせて外周シ ール 19を硬化する。 そして、 次に、 偏光板 13をタツチパネル 11の表 示光出射側に貼り付ける。
以上のように作製したタッチパネル 11単体での反射率を測定した ところ 2.3%となり、 実施形態 3のタツチパネル 1単体での反射率 (3.7%) よ り低減できることがわかった。
なお、 実施形態 4では両面の透明電極 11 c, lidの表面に凹凸部 を設けたが、 片面だけでも効果があることはいうまでもない。
〔実施形態 5〕
図 23は、 実施形態 3に示したタツチパネル 11の構造において、 さ らに外部光の反射率を低滅する構造と して、 電極基板 libの空気と 接する液晶表示器 12側の表面に凹凸部を設けた実施形態 5を示すも のである。
電極基板 libのガラス基板の屈折率は 1.6 前後で透明電極 lid ( IT0)の屈折率 (2.0)よ りは小さいため、 透明電極 11 c と空気が接し ている界面よりは反射率は小さいが、 確実に反射は起こる。 そこで 、 本実施形態 5では電極基板 libの空気と接する側の表面に凹凸部 を設けることによ り、 外部光の反射率の低減を図ったものである。 ところで、 実施形態 5におけるタツチパネルの作製方法としては 、 予め、 ガラス基板の表面にシリカ (Si02) やアルミナ (A1203 )の 微粒子を高速で吹き付けるショ ッ トブラス ト (サンドプラス ト) 法 で凹凸部を設け、 この凹凸面と反対の面に透明電極を成膜する。 そ の後、 所定のパターンにエッチングして電極基板 libを作製する。 そして、 電極基板 lla, libのどちらか一方に外周シール 19を塗布 した後に、 両基板を重ね合わせて外周シール 19を硬化する。
以上のように作製したタツチパネル 1単体での外部光の反射率を 測定したところ 3. 3%となり、 実施形態 3で示した反射率(3. 7% ) よ り低減できることがわかった。 なお、 この実施形態 5では電極基 板 li bの表面自体に凹凸部を形成したが、 例えば凹凸の表面を有す るフィルム状のシー トを電極基板 11 bの表面に貼り付けても勿論よ レ、。
〔実施形態 6〕
図 24は実施形態 3〜実施形態 5を組合せて構成した実施形態 6を 示すものである。
〔実施形態 7〕
図 25は、 タツチパネル 11と液晶表示器 12との間に、 タツチパネル 11および液晶表示器 12の各電極基板 li b, 12 aのガラス基板の屈折 率と近い屈折率を有する透明なシリ コンオイル (屈折率 1. 58) を充 填した実施形態 7を示すものである。 この実施形態 7によれば、 タ ッチパネル 11の表示光出射側には実施形態 3 と同様に表面に凹凸部 が形成された偏光板 13が貼り付けてあるが、 液晶表示器 12の表示光 出射側の偏光板 16は省略してある。
このよ うに、 本実施形態 7では実施形態 3における液晶表示器の 偏光板 16を省略してあるため、 そして偏光板 16の機能をタツチパネ ル 11の偏光板 13で兼ねさせるべく儷光板 13の吸収軸を液晶表示器 12 の偏光板 17の偏光軸の吸収軸と直交させてある。
この実施形態 7によれば、 実施形態 3に比べてタツチパネル 11の 電極基板 li b と空気層との界面、 液晶表示器 12の偏光板 16と空気層 との界面で発生しやすい外部光の反射を防止することができる。 ところで、 実施形態 7の表示装置の作製方法について要点のみ説 明すると、 液晶表示器 12とタツチパネル 11との間にオイル封止用の 外周シール 115 を形成し、 真空中でシリ コンオイル 114 を注入する 。 なお、 プロセス的には、 シリ コンオイル注入工程後は偏光板を貼 り付ける電極基板 12 b と電極基板 11 aの表面がシリ コンオイルで汚 染されて粘着力が低下するため、 オイル注入工程前にそれらの表面 に偏光板 17, 13を貼り付けておく必要がある。
以上、 説明した実施形態 7による、 タツチパネル付き表示装置の 外部光の反射率を測定したところ、 3. 0%となり、 実施形態 3の外 部光の反射率(4. 6% ) よ り低減できることがわかった。
〔実施形態 8 ]
図 26は、 実施形態 7におけるシリ コンオイル 114 に代えてタツチ パネル 11と液晶表示器 12とを、 タツチパネル 11および液晶表示器 12 の各電極基板 li b, 12 aのガラス基板の屈折率と近い屈折率を有す る樹脂 (屈折率 1. 6 前後) で接着した点が実施形態 7 と異なるのみ で、 他は実施形態 7 と同じである実施形態 8を示すものである。 本実施形態 8の表示装置の作製方法の要点を説明すると、 液晶表 示器 12の電極基板 12 aの表面に、 屈折率が 1. 55のナガセケムテック ス株式会社製の 2液タイプエポキシ接着剤 (XN1233) 116 をその中 央かまたは端面に塗布し、 その後タツチパネル 11を重ね合わせて熱 硬化するものである。 なお、 液晶表示器 12の偏光板 7 とタツチパネ ル 11の偏光板 13は、 接着剤の硬化後に貼り付けた。
本実施形態 8によれば、 熱硬化性のエポキシ接着剤を使用したた め、 硬化時のガスによる偏光板 17, 13を貼り付ける電極基板 12 b と 電極基板 11 aの表面の汚染で粘着力が低下するという問題が生じな かったが、 汚染によ り粘着力が低下する場合は、 接着剤の硬化工程 前に懾光板 17, 13を貼り付けておく必要がある。
以上の実施形態 8の、 タツチパネル付き表示装置の反射率を測定 した結果、 3. 1 %となり実施形態 3で示した構造の反射率(4. 6 % ) よ り低減できることがわかった。
〔実施形態 9〕
図 27は実施形態 7の液晶表示器 12に代えて有機 ELパネルを採用し た実施形態 9を示すものであり、 図示のように、 透明基板 121 の表 面に順次、 透明電極からなる陽極 122 、 有機発表示光層 123 、 金属 からなる陰極 124 を積層して構成された従来公知の有機 ELパネル 12 0 をタツチパネル 11の背面側に実施形態 7 と同様にした固定したも のである。 この実施形態 9においても、 実施形態 7 と同様のメカ二 ズムにて有機 ELパネルからの表示光に対して外部光の反射の影響を 抑制することが可能である。
〔実施形態 10〕
図 28は実施形態 8の液晶表示器 12に代えて有機 ELパネルを採用し た実施形態 10を示すものであり、 図示のように、 透明基板 121 の表 面に順次、 透明電極からなる陽極 122 、 有機発表示光層 123 、 金属 からなる陰極 124 を積層して構成された従来公知の有機 ELパネル 12 0 をタツチパネル 11の背面側に実施形態 8 と同様にした固定したも のである。 この実施形態 10においても、 実施形態 8 と同様のメカ二 ズムにて有機 ELパネルからの表示光に対して外部光の反射の影響を 抑制することが可能である。
〔実施形態 11〕
図 22〜図 24における構成を有したタツチパネル単体における光反 射率を測定したところ、 図 22のものは反射率は 2. 3%、 図 23のもの は 3. 3%であった。 図 24のものは測定しなかったが、 図 22およぴ図 23のものの測定結果からよ り低くなることが予想される。 従って、 これら図 22〜図 24のタッチパネル単体であつても外部光の反射低滅 効果があることが理解できる。
〔その他の実施形態〕 なお、 本発明は上記の実施形態に限定されるものではなく、 例え ば各偏光板 13, 16に表面に光拡散部として凹 ώ部を形成する構成に 加えて反射防止コート (ARコート層) を形成してもよい。
また、 実施形態 3のタツチパネル 11において、 光拡散部としての 凹凸部を有する偏光板 13を省略し、 それに代えてタツチパネル 11の 電極基板 11 aの表面をシヨ ッ トブラス ト等の方法で凹凸部を形成し てもよい。
さらに、 各実施形態では表示器と して液晶表示器を用いたが、 例 えば無機 EL、 有機 EL, CRT , PDP等のフラッ トパネルを用いてもよい ことはいうまでもない。
さらに、 タツチパネルを構成する透明絶縁基板としてガラス基板 を用いたが、 透明樹脂製でも勿論よい。
また、 光拡散部としては反射光を対象とした反射光拡散部の例を 説明したが、 光拡散部は、 この反射光に加えて透過光をも対象と し ても勿論よい。
以上のように、 本発明は、 タツチパネルと表示器との組合せにお いて、 表示器からの表示光が外部光の影響を受けて見にく くなるこ とを抑制することを 1つの課題とし、 これを解決するために、 タツ チパネル 1の偏光板 3の外表面に凹凸部を形成し、 またタツチパネ ルの透明電極 1 c, 1 dの外表面に凹凸部を形成した構成と した。 これにより、 タツチパネル 1 に入射する外部光はタツチパネル 1の 偏光板 3の凹凸部および透明電極 1 c, 1 dの凹凸部によ り拡散さ れる。 従って、 タツチパネルの後方側に配置した例えば液晶表示器 からの表示光が観察者にとつて見にく くなることを抑制することが できる。
さらに以下の実施形態 12および "その他の実施形態" は、 前述の ( C ) に記載された課題を解決するためのものである。 〔実施形態 12〕
図 29〜図 34は実施形態 12を示すものである。 図 29において、 21は タツチパネルであり、 該タツチパネル 21は、 図 16に示すように、 力 一ナビゲーショ ン用液晶表示器 Dの表示側に配置されている。 該タ ツチパネル 21は、 図 29のように、 液晶表示器 Dの表示状態を変える スィ ッチと して用いられ、 一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aがシール部 23を介して互いに対向して空間部 28を形成するようにして接着、 固 定された構成である。
一方のガラス基板 21 aはタツチパネル 21の操作者が指先で操作す るタツチ領域を有しており、 このタツチ領域を操作することで弹性 変形により微小に可動するようになっている。 また、 他方のガラス 基板 22 aは上記液晶表示器 Dの表示側に固定されるものである。 ガラス基板 21 a , 22 aは例えば硼珪酸鉛ガラス材料から構成され ており、 一方のガラス基板 21 aは肉厚が 0. 4mmで、 他方のガラス基 板 22 aは肉厚が 1. 1mmにより構成されている。
ガラス基板 21 a には透明導電膜 21 bが、 ガラス墓扳 22 aには透明 導電膜 22 bがそれぞれ形成されている。 ガラス基板 21 aの透明導電 膜 21 bは図 32に示すように長方形状を有している。 そして、 ガラス 基板 21 aには、 透明導電膜 21 bの対向する 2辺 (図 32では左右端部 ) に相当する部位に電気的に接続されるように、 配線部 24が形成さ れている。 また、 ガラス基板 22 aの透明導電膜 22 bも図 33に示すよ うに長方形状を有しており、 ガラス基板 22 a には透明導電膜 22 bの 対向する 2辺 (図 33では上下端部) に相当する部位に電気的に接続 されるよ うに、 配線部 25が形成されている。
ガラス基板 22 aには、 配線枝部 250 a、 配線枝部 250 b、 配線枝 部 250 c、 配線枝部 250 d、 配線枝部 250 e、 対をなす端子部 210 a , 210 b 対をなす端子部 220 a , 220 bが形成されている。 配線部 25のうち図 33の上側の配線部 25は配線枝部 250bを介して 端子部 210bに電気的に接続され、 下側の配線部 25は配線枝部 250 aを介して端子部 210aに電気的に接続されている。 端子部 210a ,210b ,220 a ,220bは電源供給用の電気コネクタ (図示しない) が 電気的に接続されるものである。
配線 ^部 250 c,250 dはガラス基板 21 a とガラス基板 21b とを重 ね合わせた際に、 ガラス基板 21 aの右側の配線部 24 (図 32参照) を 端子部 20aに、 また配線枝部 250 eは左側の配線部 24を端子部 220 bにそれぞれ電気的に接続するものである。 これらの電気的接続は ト ランスファ一部 26により達成されている。 即ち、 ガラス基板 21.a の右側の配線部 24 (図 32参照) とガラス基板 22aの配線枝部 250 e との間、 およびガラス基板 21aの左側の配線部 (図 32参照) とガラ ス基板 22aの配線枝部 250 c との間が ト ランスファー部 26を挟持し て電気的に接続されている。
ト ランスファ一部 26は樹脂粒子 26 a と該樹脂粒子 26aの表面にめ つきによ り ^成された金属膜 26 b とにより構成されている。 なお、 トランスファ一部 26は上記構成の導電粒子 (26a , 26 ) を上記シ ール部 23と同じ材料からなる保持材料中に添加してディスペンサを 使用して上記部位に対応する位置に形成されている。 この保持材料 によ り構成されたものを保持体 29として示す。
ところで、 図 30および図 31に示すように、 トランスファ一部 26の 肉厚、 配線部 24、 および配線枝部 250 cの積算肉厚を t 1 とし、 シ ール部 23の肉厚を t 2 とした場合、 t 1 > t 2の関係を満足するよ うに設定されている。 このような関係により、 図 29に示すように、 タツチパネルのガラス基板 21 aが、 その外側に向けて凸状に膨らん だ太鼓状とされている。
一対のガラス基板 21a, 22aは、 その透明導電膜 21b, 22bが対 向するよ うに且つそれらの間にギャップを介して空間部 28が形成さ れるように、 シ一ル部 23を介して重ね合わされて接着され、 固定さ れている。
シール部 23はタツチパネルの製造過程においては、 ガラス基板 22 aの外周縁部、 即ち透明導電膜 22 b、 上下配線部 25、 配線枝部 250 b , 250 c の外側に配置されており、 一個所に封入口 23 aが形成され 、 該封入口 23 aは封止剤 230 にて封止されている。
シール部 23は 65°C、 95% Rhの条件において透湿率が 4. 12 X 10- 1 2 g - cm/ cm2 · sec · cmHgの値を有する熱硬化型樹脂であるェポキ シ樹脂から構成され、 封止剤 230 は 65°C、 95 % Rhの条件化における 透湿率 4. 35 X 10— 1 1 g - cm/ cm2 - sec · cmHgの値を有する 硬化 型のァク リル樹脂から構成されている。 タツチパネルの外周をシー ルするシール部 23の全長は約 532mmであり、 封入口 23 aは幅が 4 mm なので封止剤 230 の透湿率は無視できる。 シール部 23の内部には、 図 29に示すよ うに、 直径 3 m程度のスぺーサ粒子 27、 例えばシリ カスペーサゃガラスフアイパーが混入してある。
なお、 図 29において、 シール部 23の肉厚は 3 ju m、 ガラス基板 21 a, 22 a間の最大ギヤップは約 30 μ mに設定されている。
ところで、 タツチパネル 1のガラス基板 21 aの外側の表面には偏 光板 210 が貼り付けてある。 この偏光板 210 はタツチパネル 21に入 射しよう とする外部光を減衰させるものである。 なお、 他方のガラ ス基板 22 aの外側の表面は空気に直接、 露出している。
ところで、 図 29および図 31に示すよ うに、 シール部 23はほぼクサ ビ形状を有しており、 この結果、 シール部 23が存在する全体の範囲 にて一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aの対向部分における対向ギヤップ' 力 シール部 23を境に空間部 28の内側に隣接する部位で広く、 空間 部 28の外側に隣接する部位で相対的に狭くなるように設定されてい る。
〔その他の実施形態〕
図 35および図 36は本発明の他の実施形態を示すものであり、 この 実施形態ではシール部 23のコーナ部 23 bの内側に、 このコーナ部 23 の形状に倣う形状を有したコーナスぺ一サ 211 を配置したもので ある。 このコーナスぺーサ 211 は図 36から理解されるように、 シー ル部 23の外側ギヤップょ り大きい数値の高さを有している。
コ一ナスぺーサ 211 の存在によりシール部 23のコーナ部 23 bの近 傍の対向ギヤップがー層拡大されることになるため、 シール部 23の コーナ部 23 b近傍に発生しゃすいニュートンリ ングを図 29の実施形 態に比較して更に一層解消することができる。
実施例 5
次に、 上記実施形態 12のタ ッチパネルの製造方法について説明す る。 前述の図 12は製造方法の工程フローを示すもので、 該工程フロ 一を援用しながら説明する。 工程 Aにおいて、 それぞれ透明導電膜 21 b , 22 bが予め形成されたガラス基板 21 a (板厚 0. 4mia) とガラ ス基板 22 a (板厚 1. 1mm) を用意し、 それぞれのガラス基板 21 a, 21 bに有機金属化合物を用いた配線部 24、 配線枝部 250 a〜 250 e 、 端子部 210 a,210 b , 220 a,220 bをスク リーン印刷によ り印刷す る。 印刷後の厚みは約 10 μ m程度と した。
ここで、 有機金属化合物は脂肪酸銀とアミ ンとの配位構造物に有 機酸が混合されたものから調製されている。 具体的には、 脂肪酸銀 35%—45% , ジヒ ドロターピネオ一ル 10 %〜20%、 1 , 2—ジアミ ノシク口へキサン 10%〜 20%、 シク 口へキサンカルボン酸 10%〜20 %、 酢酸 1 % ~ 10%、 無水フタル酸 1 %〜 5 %の組成から構成され ている。 脂肪酸銀は R- COOAg で示され、 その Rはアルキル基から構 成され、 メチル基、 ェチル基、 プロ ピル基等が挙げられ、 実施例で は、 ナミ ックス株式会社製の品名 XE102- 25を用いた。
次に、 工程 Bにおいて、 配線部 24、 配線枝部 250 a〜 250 e、 端 子部 210a,210b ,220 a ,220b, 25が形成された各ガラス基板 21 a , 22aを 150°Cで 10分で乾燥後、 280°Cで 60分で焼成する。 これら の乾燥、 焼成工程により脂肪酸銀の配位化合物が分解し、 銀が析出 する。 また、 アミ ンゃ有機酸、 脂肪酸が分解ガスとして排出される 結果、 焼成後の配線部 24、 配線枝部 250 a ~ 250 e、 端子部 210a ,210 b ,220 a ,220 の肉厚は断面方向において約 1 mとなり、 比 抵抗は 8 X10 Ω · cmとなった。
次に、 工程 Cにおいて、 一方のガラス基板 22aの外周囲に封入口 23 aを残してシール部 23をスク リ一ン印刷により形成した。 シール 部 23の材料は、 65°C、 95%Rhの条件において透湿率が 4.12X10— 12 g - cm/cm2 - sec · cmHgの値を有する熱硬化型のエポキシ樹脂に シリカスペーサを混合させたものであり、 本実施例では三井化学製 のス トラク トボンド (商標) XN- 31A - Aに、 宇部日東化成製のハイプ レシ力 (商標) N3N (粒径 2·8/ζ πι) を 0· 8wt%添加したものを用い た。
工程 Dでは、 ガラス基板 22 aに、 図 33に示すよ うに、 トランスフ ァ一部 26を形成した。 このトランスファ一部 26は、 樹脂粒子の表面 に金めつきした構成の導電粒子 (粒径 3.5μ πι) 2wt%を上記シー ル部 3の材料に添加してなる ト ランスファー材をガラス基板 22 a に デイスペンサを使用して塗布した。 なお、 導電粒子は、 積水化学製 のミクロパール (商標) AU- 2035(金めつき) を用いた。
工程 Eにおいて、 一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22aを重ね合わせ、 ェ 程 Fにおいて、 該一対のガラス基板 21a, 22aを治具により 0.1〜 3 Kg/ cm2 の圧力で押圧した。 これにより、 シール部 23はその全周 囲に亘つて均一に厚み約 3 μ ιηまで潰される。 工程 Fを実行した後は一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aが互いに張り 付いた状態となるため、 ガラス基板 21 aから目視した状態ではニュ 一トンリ ングが全面に発生していた。
そこで、 工程 Gにおいて、 一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 aの間に空 気を注入する。 即ち、 シール材 23の封入口 23 aから 5 Kg/ cm2 の吐 出圧に設定されたエアーを注入機 (図示しない) を介してガラス基 板 21 a, 22 a間の空間部 28内に注入し、 エアーの注入を停止する。 これによ り、 張り付いた状態の一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 a はエア 一によ り剥がれ、 ニュートンリ ングが消失した。
このエアーを注入した後の状態は、 図 29のように、 一対のガラス 基板 21 a, 22 a間のギャップは中央部が大きく、 周辺部が小さくな り、 ガラス基板 21 aが太鼓状となった。 なお、 ガラス基板 21 aの板 厚が薄いので、 ガラス基板 21 a側が膨らんだ状態を示すが、 この図 29は膨らんだ状態を分かり易くするため、 その状態を誇張して示し ている。
この太鼓状の形状は、 前述したように、 トランスファ一部 26の部 分における積算肉厚 t 1 とシール部 23の肉厚 1 2 との関係が 1: 1 〉 t 2を満足することで達成される。 なお、 エアーの注入を停止した 後でも図 29の状態は維持されていた。
次に、 工程 Hにおいて、 一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aを炉中 (図 示しない) に配置し、 150°Cで 1時間、 放置し、 シール部 23を熱硬 化させた。 なお、 工程 Hでは一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aのシール 部材 23の部分には圧力を付与しなかった。
シール部 23の硬化が完了後に一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 a を炉中 から取出し、 室温まで自然冷却後、 一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 a を 調査した結果、 シール部 23が硬化する前の太鼓状の形状をそのまま 維持していた。 この時、 ニュートンリ ングの発生は確認されなかつ た。
次に、 工程 I において、 シール部 23の封入口 23 aにはスリ一ボン ド製の UV硬化型アク リル榭脂 (3052B )からなる封止剤 230 を塗布し 、 UVを照射 (積算光量 lOOOmJZ cm2 )して該封止剤 230 を硬化した。 以上の工程によ り、 タツチパネルが完成する。
実施例 5において、 一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 aを調査した結果 、 シール部 23が硬化する前の太鼓状の形状をそのまま維持していた 本実施例 5ではシール部 23を構成するシール材を硬化させる前の 段階に、 工程 Cにおいて、 一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 a間の空間部 28内にエアーを注入するため、 その圧力によ り一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 aの変形が邪魔されることがない。
' 従って、 この一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 aの変形に対応して硬化 前のシール材が一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aの裏面側に張り付いた 状態で引張られながら塑性変形することになる。 この塑性変形した 状態でシール材は熱硬化されるので、 シール材の粘度が低下し、 一 対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 aのシール材近傍における対向ギヤップ付 近の形状に傲った形状になる。 このことは、 シール材が硬化してシ ル部 23が形成された状態では、 シール部 23はほぼクサビ状となる なお、 実施例 5 において、 太鼓状のタツチパネルの空間部 28にお ける中央部の最大ギヤップを測定したところ約 30 μ mであり、 シー ル部 23の空間部 28の内側に隣接する部位である內側ギャップ t 4は 約 5 μ m、 シール部 23の空間部 28の外側に隣接する部位である外側 ギャップ部 t 3は約 3 μ mであった。 さ らに、 図 31に示したように 、 シール部 23の断面形状はほぼクサビ形状を有しており、 シール部 23の幅寸法が約 2 mmであるので、 シール部 23の断面形状における傾 斜角度 0は 0· 057° であることが計算により求まる。 なお、 t 2 = ( t 3 + t 4 ) / 2で求まる。
そして、 シール部 23のこのよ う な形状によ り、 シール部 23のコー ナ部にて顕著に発生するニュートンリ ングは観察されなかった。 勿 論、 本実施例 5ではシール部 23が存在する全体の範囲に渡って、 一 対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 aの対向部分における対向ギャップが、 シ ール部 23を境に空間部 28の内側に隣接する部位で広く、 空間部 28の 外側に隣接する部位で相対的に狭くなるよ うに設定されるため、 タ ツチパネル全体でのニュートンリ ングの発生は確認できなかった。 実施例 6
実施例 5において、 ガラス基板 22 a の端部の 4つのコーナ部にお ける内側にレジス ト (材料) を約 10 mの厚みでスピンコー ト し、 通常のパターユング工程で図 35に示した形状のコーナスぺーサ 211 (高さ約 10 ί Πΐ ) を設ける。 その後、 シール部 23を形成する、 実施 例 5 と同じ熱硬化榭脂 (シール材) をディスペンサーで形成し、 ガ ラス基板 21 a を重ね合わせた。
この状態で、 ガラス基板 21 a, 22 aの内、 シール材に相当する部 分を圧力 0. 1〜3 Kg/ cm2 で加圧し、 この加圧した状態でシール材 を実施例 5 と同様の条件で硬化させた。
実施例 6ではシール材に相当する部分を加圧状態で硬化させてい るが、 得られたタツチパネルはコーナスぺーサ 211 によりシール部 23のコーナ部 23 bにおいて、 シール部 23の内側ギャップ t 4が拡大 される。 このため、 シール部 23のコーナ部 23 bに顕著に発生する二 ユートンリ ングをより一層回避することができる。
実施例 7
実施例 5において、 シール部硬化後において、 一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 aの内、 特に肉厚の薄いガラス基板 21 aがその表面のうね りの程度によりニュートンリ ングが発生した場合には、 更に一対の ガラス基板 21 a , 22 aの間にエアーを注入することが効果的である 即ち、 実施例 7では、 図 37のように、 工程 Iの前において、 シー ル部 23を硬化させた後に、 再度、 エアーを一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 a間に注入してそれらの間のギヤップを矯正するギヤップ矯正ェ 程 J を追加したものである。 この工程 J の追加により、 肉厚の薄い ガラス基板 21 aの表面のうねり を解消させて一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 a間のギャップを矯正させ、 従ってニュー トンリ ングの発生を 解消することができる。
実施例 8
上記各実施例は何れも一対のガラス基板 21 a , 22 a間のギヤップ を拡大する方法として、 ガス体をその空間部 28に注入しているが、 実施例 8は治具を用いてガラス基板を変形させることでギヤップを 拡大する方法である。 なお、 この実施例 8で用いた一対のガラス基 板 21 a , 22 a の構造、 材質、 これらに形成された膜構成、 シール部 23の材質は実施例 5 と同じものである。
図 38〜図 40において、 工程 A ~ Eで一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 a を重ね合わせ、 工程 Fにおいて、 図 39に示すよ うに、 上下治具 29, 210 の間に一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 a を挟持した。 上治具 29はシ —ル部 23の形状に沿った外周形状を有した凸部 29 aをその外周に有 しており、 この結果、 凸部 29 aにて囲まれた領域 29 bが形成されて いる。 下治具 210 は平面形状を有している。
一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aを治具により 0. 1〜 3 Kgf / cm2 の 圧力で押圧した。 ガラス基板 21 aのタツチ領域 21 cは治具 29の領域 29 bによって圧力が付与されず、 シール部 23に対応する部分のみ付 与されるこ とになる (図 40の一点鎖線で示す) 。 このように、 シー ル部 23に対応する部分のみに圧力を付与することによ り、 肉厚が 0 . 4mmと薄いガラス基板 21 a の外周部がシール部 23を全周に渡って 3 μ mまで潰すよ うに変形し、 その結果、 図 41のように、 一対のガラ ス基板 21 a, 22 aは、 その間のギャップが、 シール部 23の近傍にお いては小さく、 タツチ領域 1 cにおいては拡大したいわゆる太鼓状 等の凸部形状となる。
次に、 工程 Hにおいて、 治具 29, 210 で一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 a を挟持した状態で前記圧力を付与した状態で、 実施例 5 と同様 に、 150°C、 1時間、 炉中で放置した。
シール部 23が硬化した後、 一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aを炉中か ら取出し、 室温まで自然冷却後、 一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aを調 査した結果、 シール部 23が硬化する前の太鼓状の形状をそのまま維 持していた。 このとき、 ニュートンリ ングの発生は確認されなかつ た。
次に、 工程 Iにおいて、 シール部 23の注入口 23 a (図 40参照) を 紫外線硬化型樹脂によ り封止した。
〔その他の実施形態〕
本発明は上記実施形態に限定されず、 例えばシール部 23は熱硬化 型樹脂と したが、 紫外線硬化型樹脂で構成しても勿論よい。 又、 一 対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 a間に注入するガス体としては、 エア一の 他に不活性ガスでも勿論よい。
また、 上記実施例 6において、 コーナスぺーサ 211 をレジス トで 構成してシール部 23のコーナ部 23 bに対応する部位におけるガラス 基板 21 a, 22 a間の対向ギャップを拡大したが、 例えばシール部 23 を形成する熱硬化性樹脂にスぺーサを混ぜずにディスペンサもしく は印刷法でシール部の形状に形成した後、.この熱硬化性樹脂のおけ るシール部のコーナ部相当部位に上記スぺーサを塗布するようにし てもよい。
このような方法によれば、 熱硬化性樹脂に相当する部分を加圧し た状態では該樹脂が潰れるが、 しかし、 スぺーサの部分は潰れない ので、 樹脂からスぺーサに向かってガラス基板 21 a, 22 aの対向ギ ャップが拡大することになる。
上記実施例 6において、 工程 Hではシール部 23に対応する部分に 圧力を付与した状態でシール部 23を硬化させたが、 圧力を付与しな い状態でシール部 23を硬化させても勿論よい。
更に、 一対のガラス基板 21 a, 22 aの内、 タツチ镇域 21 cを有す るガラス基板 21 aを変形させて太鼓状と しているが、 太鼓状に限定 されるものではないし、 またガラス墓板 21 aのみならず、 ガラス基 板 22 aも同様に変形させてそれらの間の空間部 28のギヤップを拡大 するようにしても勿論よい。
さらに、 透明絶縁基板としてガラス基板を用いたが、 透明樹脂基 板でも良いことは勿論である。
以上のように、 本発明はニュートンリ ングの発生を回避したタッ チパネルを提供することを 1つの課題とする。 そして、 これを解決 するために、 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明ガラス基板 1 a, 2 aをシール部 3を介して対向、 配置してそれらの間に空間部 8を形 成したタツチパネル 1において、 ガラス基板 l a , 2 aのコーナ部 に対応してシール部 3にコーナ部 3 bを有し、 シール部のうち少な く とも該コーナ部 3 bの断面形状を、 上記空間部 8の内側に隣接す る部位で広く、 外側に隣接する部位で相対的に狭くなるように設定 した。 これにより、 ガラス基板 1 a, 2 a間の特にコーナ部におい て癸生しやすいニュートンリ ングを回避することができる。

Claims

請 求 の 範 囲 1 . 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明ガラス基板を備え、 該一対 のガラス基板を、 それらの間に空間部が形成されるように前記透明 導電膜側にて互いに対向するように配置されるとともに、 該一対の ガラス基板間をシール部を介して接合された構成を有するタツチパ ネルであって、
前記シール部の肉厚が 8 m以下 ( 0は含まない) に設定されて いることを特徴とするタツチパネル。
2 . 前記シール部の肉厚が 5 μ m以下 (0は含まない) に設定さ れていることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のタツチパネル。
3 . 前記一対のガラス基板において、 一方のガラス基板がタツチ 領域を備えており、 該タツチ領域を有する前記一方のガラス基板の 板厚が 0. 2mm以上 0. 4mm以下の範囲に設定されていることを特徴と する請求項 1に記载のタッチパネル。
4 . 前記一方のガラス基板の板厚が 0. 3雇以上 0. 4mm以下である ことを特徴とする請求項 3に記载のタツチパネル。
5 . 前記一方のガラス基板の板厚が 0. 4mmであることを特徵とす る請求項 4に記載のタツチパネル。
6 . 前記一方のガラス基板のヤング率が 730000kgfZ cm2 以上 7 50000kgf/ cm2 以下であることを特徴とする請求項 1 に記載のタッ チパネル。
7 . 前記シール部の透湿率が、 65°C、 95% Rhの条件下に該シール 部を放置した場合において、 8 X 10— 1 2 g - cm/ cm2 · sec - cmHg を超えない値を有することを特徴とする請求項 1 に記載のタツチパ ネル。
8 . 前記シール部が熱硬化型のエポキシ樹脂から構成されている ことを特徵とする請求項 7に記载のタツチパネル。
9 . 前記一対のガラス基板の何れか一方のガラス基板の前記透明 導電膜に接続された配線部と、 他方のガラス基板に形成された配線 部と、 該両配線部の間に配置されて該両配線部どう しを電気的に接 続する トランスファ一部とを有しており、 該両配線部、 前記トラン スファー部は前記一対のガラス基板の間において前記シール部よ り も内側に位置しており、 前記トランスファ一部と前記両配線部との 積算肉厚 t 1 と前記シール部の肉厚 t 2 との関係が、 t l > t 2の 闋係を満足することを特徵とする請求項 1に曾己载のタツチパネル。
10. 前記 t 1 〉 t 2の関係を満足することによ り、 前記一対のガ ラス基板のうち前記タツチ領域を有する前記一方の基板が、 その外 側に向けて凸状に膨らんだ形状を有していることを特徴とする請求 項 9に記載のタツチパネル。
11. 前記トランスフ ァー部が、 .樹脂粒子と該榭脂粒子の表面にめ つきされた金属膜とを有する導電粒子から構成されていることを特 徴とする請求項 9に記载のタツチパネル。
12. 前記配線部が前記シール部により覆われていることを特徴と する請求項 1に記載のタ ツチパネル。
13. 前記配線部が有機金属化合物の焼成体によ り構成されている ことを特徴とする請求項 1 に記载のタツチパネル。
14. 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明ガラス基板を備え、 該一対 のガラス基板を、 それらの間に空間部が形成されるように前記透明 導電膜側にて互いに対向するように配置されるとともに、 該一対の ガラス基板間をシール部を介して接合された構成を有するタツチパ ネルであって、
前記シール部の肉厚が 5 μ m以下 ( 0は含まない) に設定されて おり、 前記一対のガラス基板のうち一方のガラス基板がタッチ領域を備 えており、 該一方のガラス基板の板厚が 0. 3mm以上 0. 4mm以下であ り、
前記一方のガラス基板のヤング率が 730000kgfZ cm2 以上 75000 Okgf/ cm2 以下であり、
前記シール部の透湿率が、 65°C、 95% Rhの条件下に該シール部を 放置した場合において、 8 X 10_ 1 2 g - cm/ cm2 - sec ' cmHgを超 えない値を有する熱硬化型のエポキシ樹脂から構成されており、 前記一対のガラス基板の何れか一方の前記透明導電膜に接続され た配線部と、 他方のガラス基板に形成された配線部と、 を有してお 9、
さ らに前記両配線部の間に配置されて該両配線部どう しを電気的 に接続する ト ランスファ一部を有しており、
該トランスファ一部は前記一対のガラス基板の間において前記シ ール部より も内側に位置しており、
前記トランスファー部と前記両配線部との積算肉厚 t 1 と前記シ ール部の肉厚 t 2 との閧係が、 t 1 > t 2の関係を満足する
こ とを特徴とするタツチパネル。
15. 前記一方のガラス基板の板厚が 0. 4匪であることを特徴とす る請求項 14に記载のタツチパネル。
16. 前記 t 1 〉 t 2の関係を満足することによ り、 前記一対のガ ラス基板のうち前記タツチ領域を有する前記一方の基板が、 その外 側に向けて凸状に膨らんだ形状を有していることを特徴とする請求 項 14に記載のタツチパネル。
17. 前記ト ランスファ一部が、 樹脂粒子と該樹脂粒子の表面にめ つきされた金属膜とを有する導電粒子から構成されていることを特 徴とする請求項 14に記載のタツチパネル。
18. 前記配線部が有機金属化合物の焼成体によ り構成されている ことを特徴とする請求項 14に記載のタツチパネル。
19. 前記タツチ領域を有する前記一方のガラス基板の外側には、 該一方のガラス基板の外側の表面で反射する外部光を減衰させる偏 光板が直接、 該外側の表面に付設されており、 前記一方のガラス基 板に対向する他方のガラス基板の外側の表面は空気に直接に接して いることを特徴とする請求項 1に記載のタツチパネル。
20. 前記一対のガラス基板のそれぞれの前記透明導電膜上が前記 配線部.との接続部を除く全面にて前記一対のガラス基板間に形成さ れた空間部内に直接露出していることを特徴とする請求項 9に記載 のタツチパネノレ。
21. 自動車に用いられることを特徼とする請求項 1 または 14に記 载のタツチパネノレ。
22. ナビゲーショ ン用表示器の表示側に設置されるものであるこ とを特徴とする請求項 21に記載のタツチパネル。
23. 前記表示器は液晶ディスプレイであることを特徴とする請求 項 22に記載のタツチパネル。
24. 請求項 1または 14に記載のタツチパネルと表示器とを傭え、 前記タツチパネルを前記表示器の表示側に配置したことを特徴とす る表示装置。
25. 前記ディスプレイは液晶表示器であることを特徴とする請求 項 24に記載の表示装置。
26. 透明導電膜を配設した一対の透明ガラス基板を備え、 該一対 のガラス基板を、 それらの間に空間部が形成されるように前記透明 導電膜側にて互いに対向するようにシール部を介して配置した構成 を有し、 前記ガラス基板の内、 一方のガラス基板がタツチ領域を有 するタツチパネルにおいて、 透明導電膜がそれぞれ形成され、 何れか一方のガラス基板にシー ル材が形成された一対のガラス基板を準備すること、
前記一対のガラス基板を前記シール材を介して対向、 配置するこ と、
前記一対のガラス基板を押圧して前記シール材を所定の肉厚であ る 以下 ( 0は含まない) に設定すること、
前記シール材を硬化させる前段階において前記一対のガラス基板 間のギヤップを拡大すること、
および前記シール材を硬化させること、
を包含することを特徴とするタッチパネルの製造方法。
27. 前記一対のガラス基板を準備することは、
前記透明導電膜が予めそれぞれ形成された一対のガラス基板を準 備すること、
前記一対のガラス基板の何れか一方のガラス基板の前記透明導電 膜に接続される配線部を形成すること、
他方のガラス基板に配線部を形成すること、
前記一対のガラス基板の間において前記两配線部および前記透明 導電膜より も外側に位置するように、 前記一方のガラス基板にシー ル材を形成すること、
であり、
前記一対のガラス基板のそれぞれの前記透明導電膜は、 前記配線 部との接続部分を除く全面にて前記空間部内に直接露出しているこ とを特徴とする請求項 26に記载のタツチパネルの製造方法。
28. 前記一対のガラス基板を準備することは、 該一対のガラス基 板にシール材を形成した後に、 さらにトランスファー部を前記一方 のガラス基板の前記配線部に形成することを包含しており、 前記ト ランスファー部は樹脂粒子と該樹脂粒子の表面にめっきさ れた金属膜とを有する導電性粒子から構成されており、
前記一対のガラス基板を前記シール材を介して対向、 配置した際 には一対のガラス基板のそれぞれの前記配線部が前記ト ランスファ 一部を介して電気的に接続されることを特徴とする請求項 27に記載 のタツチパネルの製造方法。
29. 前記ギャップを拡大することは、 前記一対のガラス基板の前 記空間部内にガス体を注入させることであることを特徴とする請求 項 26に記载のタッチパネルの製造方法。
30. 前記一対のガラス基板には押圧力を付与しない状態で前記空 間部内にガス体を注入させることを特徴とする請求項 26に記载のタ ツチパネルの製造方法。
31. 前記シール材の硬化時には前記一対のガラス基板には圧力を 付与しない状態で硬化を行う ことを特徴とする請求項 26に記载のタ ツチパネルの製造方法。
