Abstract

A method and system for providing delivery point sequencing consistent with the invention includes assigning a plurality of items (110, 205) dynamic sequence numbers (225) as the plurality of items (110, 205) pass through a sequencing component (220) a first time which having a plurality of partitions (230, 235). Next the method and system include sorting the plurality of items (110, 205) into the plurality of partitions (230, 235) of the sequencing component (220) as the items (110, 205) pass through the sequencing component (220) the first time, each partition (230, 235) having a corresponding batch (240, 245) of items. And finally, the method and system include sorting the items of each batch (240, 245) by the dynamic sequence numbers (225) as the items (110, 205) pass through the sequencing component (220) a second time, each of the plurality of partitions (230, 235) sorting only items of its corresponding batch (240, 245).
