Abstract

A system and method for enabling a mobile user terminal in an ad-hoc packet-switched wireless network to selectably operate as a router for other terminals in the network based on certain criteria. The user terminal (102-1-102-m, figure 1) comprise transceiver and controller. The transceiver is adapted to transmit communication data addressed to a destination user terminal via at least one other user terminal acting as a router. The controller is adapted to prevent transmission based on the one other user terminals capability to route the data. The user terminal stores routing data received from the other user terminal or from the network.
