Description

ADVERTISING COPY PANEL, ADVERTISING COPY FILM, ADVERTISING SIGNBOARD ADOPTING THE SAME, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD
THEREOF
TECHNICAL FIELD
The present invention relates to an advertising copy film and an advertising copy panel used for an advertising signboard, and more particularly to an advertising copy film and an advertising copy panel on which a printing layer having a plurality of light transmission holes are formed in its surface is printed so that different base colors are expressed at day and night. In addition, the present invention also relates to an advertising signboard adopting such an advertising copy film or panel. Furthermore, the present invention also relates to an advertising signboard and its manufacturing method, which enables to improve a visual advertising effect by shaping an advertising copy in three dimensions.
BACKGROUND ART
Generally, an advertising signboard is used for advertising a firm name or products handled. Such an advertising signboard is commonly stood in front of a store or installed to a wall of a building. A traditional signboard contains a panel on which an advertising copy is pictured, and a light source such as a fluorescent lamp is mounted in a signboard frame so that the advertising copy pictured on the panel may be recognized at night.
FIG. 1 shows a conventional advertising signboard. Referring to FIG. 1, the conventional signboard has an illuminator 12 mounted in a signboard frame 11 so that the signboard may be watched at night. If an advertising copy panel 13 of the signboard is made of a material having an excellent light transmission property, the advertisement may be brightly expressed at night due to the illuminator, but it does not catch sight of passengers in the daytime. Meanwhile, if the advertising copy panel 13 has a dark color such as blue, the advertisement may be easily recognized in the daytime, but a light transmission rate at night is significantly deteriorated.
Considering such problems, Korean Utility Model Registration No. 195635 discloses an advertising copy panel including a transparent panel, an advertising copy film attached to the front surface of the transparent panel and having a plurality of light transmission holes, and an advertising copy film attached to the rear surface of the transparent panel. The advertising signboard adopting such advertising copy panels gives different base colors at day and night.
However, this signboard is complex in configuration, and since the light transmission holes formed by perforating the film are choked by contaminant materials as time goes, their light transmission function is lost little by little. In addition, such an advertising copy film requires a high cost for manufacture.
Besides, since the conventional advertising copy panel is made planar and expresses an advertising copy on the plane, an advertising effect is not satisfactory and the advertising copy is recognized from a side position relatively not so well.
DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION
An object of the invention is to provide an advertising copy film in which light transmission holes are formed on its surface by printing, not perforating the film.
Another object of the invention is to provide an advertising copy panel in which light transmission holes are printed on its surface, without requiring attachment of a film in which light transmission holes are perforated. Still another object of the invention is to provide an advertising copy panel having a printing layer provided with embossed portions for improving an illuminating effect by means of diffused reflection or dispersion of the light emitted from an illuminator.
Still another object of the invention is to provide an advertising signboard adopting such an advertising copy film or panel.

BEST MODES FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG.2 shows an advertising copy film according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2, a printing layer 25 is printed on the surface of an adverting copy film 23 with the use of paint or ink. The advertismg copy film 23 may be a transparent or translucent sheet made of a PVC material. Preferably, the advertismg copy film 23 may have various colors as required.
According to the present invention, the printing layer 25 has a plurality of light transmission holes 25a for ensuring light to transmit from inside through the layer. The light transmission holes 25a are formed by not printing ink. Preferably, the light transmission holes 25a are arranged in a lattice shape at regular intervals. The printing layer 25 having such light transmission holes 25a may be printed on the film 23 using the well-known silk screen printing.
Preferably, a laminate layer (not shown) for UV blocking may be further coated on the printing layer 25. The laminate layer acts for preventing the printing layer 25 from being discolored due to ultraviolet lays. In addition, in order to protect the advertising copy film from external contaminants, a contamination prevention layer may be further coated on the printing layer 25 or the laminate layer.
An advertising signboard according to another aspect of the present invention, shown in FIG.3, adopts the aforementioned advertising copy film. Referring to FIG. 3, the advertising signboard includes a frame 11, and an illuminator 12 mounted in the frame 11. The frame 11 may be made in a shape corresponding to the advertising copy. The illuminator 12 has a lamp such as a fluorescent lamp or a neon sign.
An advertising copy panel is installed to the front surface of the frame 11. The advertising copy panel includes a transparent panel 15 for ensuring transmission of light emitted from the illuminator 12 in the frame, and an advertising copy film 20 attached on the transparent panel 15. According to the present invention, when the advertising signboard is fabricated, the advertising copy panel may be made by simply attaching the advertising copy film 20, on which the printing layer is already printed, onto the transparent panel 15 according to the advertising copy.
If such an advertising signboard is observed in the daytime, the advertising copy is recognized by means of the color of the printing layer 25, but the relatively smaller light transmission holes 25a are not recognized from a distance. To the contrary, if the illuminator 12 in the frame 11 is turned on at night, the light is dispersed through a plurality of the light transmission holes 25a. Thus, an observer may recognize the advertising copy by means of the internal lamp. At this time, the color on the surface of the printing layer 25 is not visible to the observer, and the light color of the internal illuminator 12 or the color of the transparent panel 15 or the advertising copy film 20 becomes a base color of the advertising copy. Thus, the advertising signboard may express the advertising copy in different colors at day and night.
FIG. 4 shows an advertising copy panel and an advertising signboard adopting the panel according to still another embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 4, a printing layer is printed on the surface of the advertising copy panel 15 adopted in the advertising signboard according to this embodiment, by means of paint or ink. The printing layer has a plurality of light transmission holes 25a for ensuring light transmission from the inside, which are formed by not printing ink. Preferably, the light transmission holes 25a are arranged in a lattice shape at regular intervals. The advertising copy panel 15 is a panel made of acrylic resin, flex resin or polycarbonate, which is transparent or translucent. The printing layer having the light transmission holes 25a may be printed on the advertising copy panel 15 with the use of the well-known silk screen printing.
In addition, the advertising copy panel 15 may have a predetermined color to make a base color of the advertising copy. Moreover, a light diffusion film may be further attached to the rear surface of the advertising copy panel 15 in order to propagate light uniformly.
Preferably, a laminate layer (not shown) for UV blocking may be further coated on the printing layer. The laminator layer acts for preventing the printing layer from being discolored due to ultraviolet rays. In addition, in order to protect the advertising copy panel from external contaminants, a contamination prevention layer may be further coated on the printing layer or the laminate layer.
According to the present invention, since the printing layer having the light transmission holes 25a are printed on the advertising copy panel 15, a worker cuts the panel 15 according to a desired advertising copy and then just installs the cut panel 15 to the frame 11 in order to manufacture a signboard.
If such an advertising signboard is observed in the daytime, the advertising copy is recognized by means of the color of the printing layer, but the relatively smaller light transmission holes 25a are not recognized from a distance. To the contrary, if the illuminator 12 in the frame 11 is turned on at night, the light is dispersed through a plurality of the light transmission holes 25a. Thus, an observer may recognize the advertising copy by means of the internal lamp. At this time, the color on the surface of the printing layer is not visible to the observer, and the light color of the internal illuminator 12 or the color of the advertising copy panel 15 or the light diffusion film becomes a base color of the advertising copy. Thus, the advertising signboard may express the advertising copy in different colors at day and night.
FIG. 5 shows an advertising copy panel and an advertising signboard adopting the panel according to still another embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, an illuminator 12 is mounted in a rectangular frame 11, and a rectangular advertising copy panel 15 is installed to the front surface of the frame 11.
A colored printing layer 25 is coated on the surface of the advertising copy panel 15 so as to form light transmission holes according to the shape of an advertising copy such as letter or picture, and an opaque film 23 having a color different from the printing layer 25 is attached to a remained area of the surface.
In case of the advertising signboard of this embodiment, the advertising copy is observed with the color of the opaque film 23 as a background in the daytime. At night, the light of the illuminator 12 is dispersed through the light transmission holes formed in the printing layer 25 in the area of the advertising copy, so only the advertising copy is clearly expressed.
As another alternative, as shown in FIG. 6, a colored printing layer 25 having light transmission holes is coated on the surface of the advertising copy panel 15 in a background area except an advertising copy, and an opaque film 23 having a color different from the printing layer 25 is attached to the area of the advertising copy.
In this embodiment, the advertismg copy attached by means of the opaque film
23 is recognized in the daytime, contrary to the former embodiment. However, at night, the advertising copy does not transmit light, and the light from the inside is dispersed through the light transmission holes in the background, so the advertising copy may be clearly recognized due to the contrast effect with the background.'
FIG. 7 shows an advertising copy panel and an advertising signboard adopting the panel according to still another embodiment of the present invention. As shown in
FIG. 7, in this embodiment, an illuminator 24 is mounted in a frame 22 having a shape according to an advertising copy, and an advertising copy panel 30 is installed to the front surface of the frame 22.
A colored printing layer 44 is coated on the surface of the advertising copy panel 30 so that light transmission holes 42 are formed, and a plurality of embossed portions 40 are protrusively formed in the front surface of the printing layer 44 as shown in FIG. 8.
In the advertising signboard of this embodiment, the advertising copy is expressed by means of the color of the printing layer 44 in the daytime. Meanwhile, at night, the light emitted from the illuminator 24 is dispersed through the light transmission holes 42 as mentioned above, so the advertising copy is brightly recognized. At this time, diffused reflection and dispersion of the light emitted from the illuminator 24 are further promoted through the embossed portions 40, so the light may be propagated over a wider area, thereby improving the illuminating effects at night much more. FIG. 9 shows an advertising copy panel and an advertising signboard adopting the panel according to still another embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, an illuminator 50 is mounted in a rectangular frame 52, and a rectangular advertising copy panel 60 is installed to the front surface of the frame 52.
A colored printing layer 66 is coated on the surface of the advertismg copy panel 60 so that light transmission holes 64 are shaped according to the shape of an advertising copy. In the remained region of the surface, a translucent or opaque film 68 having a color different from the printing layer 66 is attached. In addition, a plurality of embossed portions 62 are protrusively formed in the printing layer 66.
In case of the advertising signboard according to this embodiment, the advertising copy is expressed in the daytime with the color of the translucent or opaque film 68 as a background. On the while, at night, the light of the illuminator 50 is dispersed through the light transmission holes 64 formed in the printing layer 66 conforming to the advertising copy, so only the advertising copy is clearly expressed. At this time, the light is diffusively reflected and dispersed at the embossed portions 62, thereby improving the illuminating effect further.
As another alternative, an advertising signboard shown in FIG. 10 includes a frame 72, an illuminator 70 mounted in the frame 72, and an advertising copy panel 80 installed to the front surface of the frame 72.
A colored printing layer 90 having light transmission holes 92 is coated on the surface of the advertising copy panel 80 according to this embodiment so as to occupy only a region except the advertising copy. In addition, a translucent or opaque film 82 having a color different from the printing layer 90 is attached to the area of the advertising copy. Moreover, a plurality of embossed portions 94 are protrusively formed in the printing layer 90.
As for operation of the signboard board according to this embodiment, the advertising copy attached by means of the translucent or opaque film 82 is recognized in the daytime, contrary to the former embodiment. However, at night, the film 82 on the advertising copy transmits little or no light, but at the background, the light from inside is transmitted and dispersed through the light transmission holes 92 of the printing layer 90, so the advertising copy may be clearly recognized by means of the contrast effect.
An advertising signboard according to still another embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG. 11. Referring to FIG. 11, the advertising signboard of this embodiment includes a frame 10 configuring a main body of the advertising signboard of this embodiment, and an advertising copy panel 20 installed to the front surface of the frame 10. An illuminator 11 such as a fluorescent lamp or a neon sign is mounted in the frame 10. On the advertising copy panel 20, a desired advertising copy is formed. According to this embodiment, the advertising copy panel 20 includes a panel 21 having an excellent light transmission property and a colored printing layer 23 formed on the panel 21 so that a plurality of light transmission holes 22 are formed therein. The panel 21 is made of acrylic resin, flex resin or polycarbonate, which is transparent or translucent. The printing layer 23 is formed by printing a colored ink on the panel 21, particularly only in a region of the panel except the light transmission holes 22, by means of the silk screen printing for example.
Preferably, a laminate layer (not shown) for UV blocking may be further coated on the printing layer 23. The laminate layer acts for preventing the printing layer 23 from being discolored due to ultraviolet lays. More preferably, in order to protect the printing layer from external contaminants, a contamination prevention layer may be further coated thereon.
According to this embodiment, the advertising copy panel 20 is three-dimensionally shaped to have planar portions 24a, 24b and 24c and curved portions 25a and 25b as shown in FIG. 12. The planar portions and the curved portions may be shaped in multi stages according to a desired advertising copy. For example, in this embodiment, the planar portion 24a configures a base of the advertising copy, the planar portion 24b corresponds to a design of the logo, and the planar portion 24c corresponds to an advertising letter. In addition, as described later, since the light emitted from the internal illuminator is advanced in different ways at the planar portions 24a, 24b and 24c and the curved portions 25a and 25b, a border between them is naturally formed. Selectively, a light diffusion film (not shown) may be attached to the rear surface of the panel 21. The light diffusion film acts for uniformly propagating the light emitted from the illuminator 11 so that the advertising copy is expressed with a uniform brightness. The light diffusion film is generally made of a milky white translucent sheet paper.
According to this embodiment, uneven portions 26 may be regularly or irregularly formed in the rear surface of the panel 21 instead of the light diffusion film. The uneven portions 26 make the light from the illuminator 11 be diffusively reflected and dispersed so that the light may be uniformly propagated. It helps the advertising copy to be more clearly recognized. As mentioned later, the uneven portions 26 are preferably formed when the panel is shaped.
Now, a method for manufacturing the advertising signboard configured as above is described.
First, the printing layer 23 is printed with the use of colored ink on a region of the panel 21 made of acrylic resin, flex resin or polycarbonate, which is transparent or translucent, except areas corresponding to a plurality of the light transmission holes 22. Preferably, the well-known sink screen printing is used for the printing, and at this time a diameter of the light transmission hole 22 or a distance between the light transmission holes 22 may be suitably selected on consideration of chroma or degree of definition. More preferably, the printing layer 23 may be distinguished by printing a logo or a letter with a color different from a base color according to the shape of a desired advertising copy.
Then, a light diffusion film (not shown) may be selectively attached to the rear surface of the panel 21 as mentioned above.
Subsequently, the panel 21 on which the printing layer 23 is printed is put into a mould and then thermally pressed for shaping. The mould is corresponding to the shape of a desired advertising copy, and the panel 21 is pressed with pressure to form the planar portions 24a, 24b and 24c and the curved portions 25a and 25b according to the advertising copy. The panel shaping may be conducted in various patterns according to the shape of logo or letter, and thus the panel 21 may have a three-dimensional advertising copy.
Here, when the panel is pressed and shaped by the mould, the uneven portions 26 for diffused reflection are formed on the rear surface of the panel 21 at the same time. Irregularity or depth of the uneven portions 26 may be suitably selected according to size of the signboard, brightness of the illuminator, shape of the advertising copy and so on.
Such panel shaping is preferably accomplished in the range of 160 to 220 °C because high temperature may cause property denaturalization of the printing layer 23. In such a temperature range, the printing layer 23 is stably kept, thereby not being evaporated or omitted.
Subsequently, the completed advertising copy panel is installed to the front surface of the frame 10 in which the illuminator 11 such as a fluorescent lamp is mounted, thereby manufacturing the signboard completely.
If the advertising signboard manufactured according to the method of the present invention is observed, the logo or advertising letters which are three-dimensionally protruded may be recognized in the daytime with the base color of the advertising copy panel 20 for background. In this case, though a plurality of light transmission holes 22 are formed in the advertising copy panel 20, the light transmission holes 22 are not specifically recognized to a person located at a distance, but only the whole color is recognized. On the other hand, if the illuminator 11 is turned on at night, the light emitted from the light source passes through the transparent or translucent panel 21, and is then dispersed through a plurality of the light transmission holes 22 formed in the printing layer 23. Thus, the overall base color of the advertising copy panel is changed different from the color in the daytime according to the color of the illuminator 11. Preferably, if a colored translucent light diffusion film is interposed between the illuminator 11 and the advertising copy panel 20 or the light diffusion film is attached to the rear surface of the panel 21, the base color is changed into a color which is given out through the light diffusion film. As an alternative, the base color may be obtained when the panel 21 is made of a colored translucent panel. In this embodiment particularly, since the light emitted from the illuminator 11 is diffusively reflected by the uneven portions 26 formed in the rear surface of the panel 21, the advertising copy may be more clearly expressed together with or without the light diffusion film.
According to the embodiment, the light is progressed in different directions at the planar portions 24a, 24b and 24c and the curved portions 25a and 25b. That is to say, while the light emitted from the illuminator 11 straightly passes the panel 21 and the light transmission holes 22 at the planar portions 24a, 24b and 24c which compose a background or an advertising logo or letter, the light emitted from the illuminator 11 is laterally dispersed at the curved portions 25a and 25b, which acts as a border between the base color and the advertising logo or letter, since the light transmission holes 22 are oriented toward a lateral direction. Thus, to an observer who sees the advertising signboard at a front position, the background and the advertising logo or letter may be visually observed relatively more brightly than the border, so the advertising copy may be more clearly distinguished and recognized.
In addition, since the advertising logo or letter is three-dimensionally protruded to an observer who watches the signboard at a side position, a range of vision which may be exposed to the observer is far wider than the conventional planar advertising copy, so the advertising copy may be clearly recognized at various angles.
An advertising signboard according to another embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG..13. Referring to FIG. 13, the printing layer 23 in which a plurality of light transmission holes 22 are formed is also printed on a panel 21' adopted to the advertising signboard of this embodiment. But, the printing layer 23 is formed only in a region except the advertising copy 30 such as an advertising logo or letter.
Thus, since the light transmission hole is not formed in the advertising copy 30, if the panel 21' is shaped by pressure and then light is radiated from the illuminator 11 at night, the light passes through the panel 21' in an area of the advertising copy 30 as it is. Accordingly, the area of the advertising copy 30 is bright as a base color of the panel 21' or a light diffusion film (not shown), while the region where the light transmission holes 22 are formed is operated in the same way as the former description. Thus, the advertising copy is more brightly expressed with the advertising copy panel giving a light as a whole. Though not shown in the figures, those ordinarily skilled in the art will understand that an opposite operation is possible by forming the printing layer having light transmission holes onto the advertising copy and then not printing the printing layer in a remained region. As another alternative, it is also possible to print the advertising copy and the base color with different colors so that the advertising copy is recognizable.
INDUSTRIAL APPUCABILTTY
The advertising copy film and the advertising copy panel according to the present invention may be easily manufactured at a lower cost since a plurality of light transmission holes may be formed by printing a printing layer on their surfaces. In addition, since the printing layer may be simply attached to a transparent panel or installed on the front surface of the frame for the purpose of fabricating an advertising signboard, the advertising signboard may be conveniently and easily assembled. Moreover, since the embossed portions for diffusive reflection or dispersion of light are formed in the advertising copy panel of the present invention, an illuminating effect may be more improved.
The advertising signboard of the present invention may advantageously improve an advertising effect at night as well as in the daytime since the advertising copy or its background is expressed in different colors at day and night.
According to the advertising signboard and its manufacturing method, it is possible to make a multi-stage three-dimensional advertising copy according to a desired logo or letter by making a mould in accordance with a shape of the advertising copy and the shaping the advertising copy panel.
According to the present invention, since the panel is shaped by pressure after a printing layer is formed thereon, there is no need to install any separate structure or other additional works, and it is possible to obtain the three-dimensional advertising copy at once.
In the advertising signboard manufactured according to the present invention, the advertising copy may be more clearly recognized since the light emitted from inside is dispersed in different directions at the planar portions and the curved portions. In addition, since the advertising copy is protruded, an observer may recognize the advertising copy in a wider range of vision, so the advertising effect is further maximized. Furthermore, since the uneven portions are formed in the rear surface of the advertising copy panel, the light from the light source may be diffusively reflected and dispersed uniformly.
