Abstract

A puck [75] is movable within a puck field of motion defined by a boundary [78]. Arcuate springs [71-74] connect the puck [75] to the boundary [78]. Each arcuate spring [71-74] has a first end connected to the puck [75] and a second end connected to the boundary [78], and applies a force to the puck [75] that maintains the puck [75] in a predetermined region of the puck field of motion when no external force is applied to the puck [75]. In an embodiment, each arcuate spring [71-74] includes a planar spiral member. The arcuate springs [71-74] can also apply a force that dampens any oscillations in the puck position when the puck [75] returns to the predetermined region in the puck field of motion. The puck [75] can also include an electrode [91, 92] that is electrically connected to a point outside the puck field of motion by one of the arcuate springs [94, 96].
