Abstract

A latching system including a latch assembly (100) and a keeper (108) is disclosed. The latch assembly includes a grabber catch (120) attached to a cup-like housing (110). In the illustrated embodiment the latch assembly also includes a rectilinearly moving pawl (118) that is actuated by a handle (112) pivotally attached to the cup-like housing. The pawl (124) of the grabber catch and the rectilinearly moving pawl (118) both engage the keeper when the keeper is secured to the latch assembly.
