Description
A Casing for Protection of a Container Closure
The subject of the invention is a casing for protection of a container closure. The invention is applicable for storage and transportation of liquid, solid state and gaseous substances.
Storage and transportation of substances in containers requires that casings for protection of the containers closures is used against unauthorized access. It is especially important for food or medicine transports, where these goods may be subject to infection, theft or falsification. There are many different types of casings for protection of containers, especially that of cylindrical shape. Those bearing most resemblances to the invention are shortly presented below.
The European patent EP0161565B1 discloses a casing with incisions extending over container's valve. This solution does not comprise an external housing and it is therefore possible to prevent unauthorized access, since the incisions may be pry opened and the protective casing may be taken off. The casing may be again put on leaving hardly any visible signs of unauthorized access.
Another solution is presented in the US patent US5996833. The casing thereof comprises internal protective collar with incisions, however, the diameter of the collar is no smaller that the diameter of the container closure's diameter. Therefore, in that case it is also possible to remove the casing simply by taking is carefully off from the container's closure, leaving the container vulnerable to access of third parties.
The purpose of the present invention is to find a solution for protecting containers' closures against unauthorized access in such a way that any removal of protective measures may be unambiguously identified. This technical problem was unexpectedly solved by a casing described below.
A casing for protection of a container closure according to the invention comprises an external structure comprising a lid and an external housing. The casing further comprises an internal housing made of a plastic material. An internal side of the internal housing determines a generating line of a conical frustum at an α angle to a bottom base of the conical frustum. Therefore, the invention is mainly applicable for cylindrical containers, however, it is also possible that a shape of the internal housing is in fact that of pyramidal frusta of the in specific circumstances instead of the conical ones. The crux of the invention is that a diameter of a top base of the frustum is sorter than an external diameter of a collar of a bottleneck of the container. Therefore, since the internal housing is made of plastic material, it is perfectly possible to put the casing on, but due to specific structure of the casing it is not possible to take it off without destroying the internal housing.
It is preferable when the internal housing of the casing is uniform, which is to be understood as being deprived of any discontinuities in its structure. It is also advantageous when the external structure, especially the external housing, is uniform as well. However, in certain circumstances, e.g. due to production process, it is advantageous when the external structure (especially the external housing) comprises at least one aperture. More specifically, it is beneficial when a production method known as injection without blowing is employed.
It is further advantageous when the external structure of the casing further comprises a hoop. The role of the hoop is to make it even more difficult for potential unauthorized access to take place leaving no easily identifiable signs. When the external structure comprises plurality of apertures, it is preferred when they are located symmetrically over the external structure.
Another advantageous feature of the casing is when the internal housing of the casing comprises indentations. It must be stressed that for the purposes of this application, "indentation" defines a part of the internal housing which is weakened and therefore especially susceptible stretching. Such definition means that indentation does not result in forming a discontinuity of the structure of the internal
housing. The indentations are preferably perpendicular to the plane determined by bases of the frustum.
Furthermore, the casing may preferably comprise stabilizers for ensuring that when located over the container, it tends to adhere to the surface of the container.
It is also advantageous, when the α angle is greater than 60 degrees, likewise the α angle is preferably smaller than 60 degrees.
The external housing may also extend to form a lower external housing, making it even more difficult to access the internal housing for potential purposes of unauthorized pry opening. The lower external housing may be in the accordion- like form.
Certainly, any combination of the advantageous features is possible.
A casing for protection of container closure is applicable to container having a bottleneck with a collar. The use of the casing consists in pressing the casing over the bottleneck of the container. Since the diameter of the top base of the frustum (as defined above) is smaller that the diameter of the container's collar, thrusting the casing requires that resistance of the internal housing is overcome.
This is why the internal housing is made of a plastic material, and the indentations facilitate stretching of the internal housing. The thrusting of the casing is irreversible.
The method according to the invention is explained in the figures attached hereto. Fig. 1 is a section of the casing for protection of the container closure, Fig. 2 is its different section, Fig. 3 is a view of the casing. Fig 4 is a longitudinal section of the casing having the lower external housing, and Fig. 5 shows the same with different lid. Fig. 6 shows a casing without lower external housing, Fig. 7 exhibits an accordion like lower external housing, Fig. 8 demonstrates that a diameter (A) of a top base of the conical frustum is sorter than an external diameter (B) of a collar of a bottleneck of the container. Fig. 9 indicates the angle α and Fig. 10 shows a casing with an extra protective measure in a form of a
collar.
Embodiments
The embodiments are given for purposes of better understanding the invention and should not influence a potential limitation of the scope of protection.
Fig 1 , Fig. 2 and Fig. 3 represent a casing for protection of container closure. The casing consists of an external housing (V), directly linked to a lid (5) and an internal housing, which determines a generating line of a conical frustum at an α angle to a bottom base of the conical frustum (shown in Fig. 10). The internal housing (4) comprises a plurality of indentations (3) and stabilizers (2). Since the internal housing (4) is made of a plastic material, it is subject to reversible stretching when being applied on the container equipped with a closure having the outmost diameter B (shown in Fig. 9), since the diameter B of the closure is greater than the diameter A of the top base of the conical frustum (shown in Fig. 10). The stabilizers (2) help to position the casing in a stable manner, inter alia preventing unintentional destruction of the closure during transportation.
The casing shown in Fig. 4 differs from the one described In the embodiment 1 in that it comprises a lower external housing making it even more difficult to access the internal housing for manipulation. The length of the lower external housing is chosen in that manner that it directly adheres to the container's body below its bottleneck. Fig. 7 represents a similar casing, where the lower external housing is in the accordion-like form.
Another embodiment shown in Fig. 10 represents the casing comprising further additional protective measure in a form of a collar (6) protruding inwards at the free ending of the external housing.
