- the tape applicator device 21 comprises a tape roll, from which a desired amount of patching tape is transferred to the desired location on the applicator roll 22.
- the applicator roll 22 is moved to the patching position, i.e. the patching nip is closed, and when the web W runs through the patching nip, the pieces of patching tape are transferred from the applicator roll 22 to the web W, to the area of the hole/holes. After that, the applicator roll 22 is moved back to the stand-by position close to the tape applicator device to await the next patching operation.
