Claims

1. A method to be executed at least in part in a computing device for capturing whiteboard content, the method comprising:

capturing whiteboard content through an image capture device;

locally caching the captured content;

presenting the captured content to a user;

in response to receiving a user indication for transmitting the captured content to at least one recipient, transmitting the captured content to the at least one recipient through one of a default transmission mode and a user-defined transmission mode;
in response to receiving a user indication to store the captured content, storing the captured content in at least one of a local data store and a remote data store; and
deleting the locally cached copy of the captured content.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmission mode includes at least one from a set of: an instant message, an electronic message, a data sharing application session, and a data upload session.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the whiteboard content is captured through one of: an automatic capture mode and a user-initiated capture mode.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

processing the captured content for at least one of: image quality enhancement and movement filtering.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising at least one from a set of:

performing image processing on the captured content;

integrating the captured content into one of: a presentation document, a word processing document, a spreadsheet document, a markup language document, and an electronic mail document; and

enabling a user to edit the captured content.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the image capture device includes one of: a webcam, a digital camera, a panoramic camera, and a video conference camera system.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the image capture device is controlled by at least one from a set of: an in-room computer, a remote server, and a client device associated with one of meeting participants.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the recipient includes at least one of: a meeting participant and a remote user.

9. The method of claim 1, transmitting the captured content includes transmission to at least one remote computing device through at least one of a wired and a wireless network.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

reformatting the captured content based on one of a default image format and a user-defined image format.

11. A computing device for capturing whiteboard content, the computing device comprising:

a memory;

a communication module coupled to an electronic image capture device; and

a processor coupled to the memory and the communication module, the processor capable of executing a whiteboard capture application configured to:
cause the electronic image capture device to capture the whiteboard content in response to a user indication;
save the captured image in the memory;
provide user options for storing the captured image employing a selected format in one of a local data store and a remote data store coupled to the computing device through a network;
in response to receiving a user selection for storing the captured content and the format, store the captured content in the selected data store employing the selected format;
provide user options for transmitting the captured image to at least one recipient employing a transmission mode comprising one of: an electronic mail, an instant message, a data sharing session, and an upload session;
in response to receiving a user selection for transmitting the captured content, transmit the captured content via the selected transmission mode; and
upon receiving a user indication, delete the captured content saved in the memory.

12. The computing device of claim 11, wherein the whiteboard capture application is further configured to:

transmit the captured content to a recipient only if the recipient is authorized to receive the captured content.

13. The computing device of claim 12, wherein the whiteboard capture application is further configured to determine if the recipient is authorized to receive the captured content by confirming an identity of the recipient as being a safe address.

14. The computing device of claim 11, wherein the communication module is further coupled to a plurality of peripheral devices including at least one from a set of: a projection screen, a display monitor, a mouse, a keyboard, and an external storage device through one of a wired connection and a wireless connection.

15. The computing device of claim 11, wherein the computing device is further configured to facilitate one of a video conference and an online meeting, and wherein the whiteboard capture application is further configured to:

integrate the captured content into electronic media employed in association with the facilitated one of the video conference and the online meeting.

16. The computing device of claim 15, wherein the electronic image capture device is a camera also used for the facilitated one of the video conference and the online meeting.

17. The computing device of claim 11, wherein the whiteboard capture application is further configured to filter out moving objects from the captured content.

18. A computer-readable storage medium with instructions stored thereon for providing a whiteboard capture application user interface, the instructions comprising:

providing user options for capturing whiteboard content through one of: an automatic capture mode and a user-initiated capture mode;

upon receiving a captured content image, enabling a user to switch between an unprocessed captured content image and a processed captured content image;

displaying the captured content image;

providing information associated with captured images to the user;
enabling the user to select a data store for storing the captured content image;
storing the captured content image in response to receiving the user selection;
enabling the user to enter a recipient address for transmitting the captured content image;
transmitting the captured content image in response to receiving a user indication for transmission; and
enabling the user to delete the captured content image from a local memory.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein the instructions further comprise:

activating the user interface upon authenticating a user's permission status.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 18, wherein instructions further comprise:

enabling the user to select one of: a presentation application, a word processing application, a spreadsheet application, an electronic mail application, and a web browser application; and

integrating the captured content image into a document associated with the user selected application.
