There is provided a method and system to generate corporate data pertaining to a corporate entity. The system includes an interface to communicate, to each of a plurality of users of a data system, a corporate data attribute relating to a corporate entity and a plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute and to receive, at the system and from the plurality of users, votes for at least one candidate data attribute value of the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute. The system further includes a vote module automatically to tally the votes and publish vote information based on the votes received from the plurality of users in connection with the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute.

Claims

1. A system to generate corporate data pertaining to a corporate entity, the system including:

an interface to:
communicate, to each of a plurality of users of a data system, a corporate data attribute relating to a corporate entity and a plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute;
receive, at the system and from the plurality of users, votes for at least one candidate data attribute value of the plurality of candidate data attribute values (We should not exclude votes for specific values (e.g. an exact sales figure).) for the corporate data attribute; and

a vote module to automatically tally the votes and publish vote information based on the votes received from the plurality of users in connection with the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the vote information is a tally of votes for each of the plurality of candidate data attribute values.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the vote module is only to automatically tally votes received within a predetermined time.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the plurality of candidate data attribute values are communicated as a plurality of value ranges, and wherein the respective votes each relate to a value range of the plurality of ranges.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the corporate data attribute is at least one of a group of attributes including corporate finances, number of corporate employees and industry classification.

The system of claim 1, including an update module automatically to allocate at least a first value of the candidate data attribute values to the corporate data attribute for the corporate entity based on the votes received from the plurality of users, and a search module to make the first value available as searchable data for location of corporate data maintained by the data system.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the interface is to communicate a search input interface to a user of the data system, the search input interface including a data attribute search field to receive a filter value with respect to the data attribute.

8. A computer-implemented method to generate corporate data pertaining to a corporate entity, the method including:

communicating, to each of a plurality of users of a data system, a corporate data attribute relating to a corporate entity and a plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute;

receiving, at the data system and from the plurality of users, votes for at least one candidate attribute value of the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute; and

automatically tallying the votes and publishing vote information based on the votes received from the plurality of users in connection with the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute.

9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein the plurality of candidate data attribute values are communicated as a plurality of value ranges, and wherein the respective votes each relate to a value range of the plurality of ranges.

10. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein the corporate data attribute is at least one of a group of attributes including corporate finances, number of corporate employees and industry classification.

The computer-implemented method of claim 8, including allocating at least a first value of the plurality of data attribute values to the corporate data attribute for the corporate entity based on the votes received from the plurality of users, and making the first value available as searchable data for the location of corporate data maintained by the data system.

The computer-implemented method of claim 11, wherein the making of the first value available as the search data includes communicating a search input interface to a user of the data system, the search input interface including a data attribute search field to receive a filter value with respect to the data attribute.

13. A machine readable medium storing a set of instructions that, when executed by a machine, cause the machine to:

communicate, to each of a plurality of users of a data system, a corporate data attribute relating to a corporate entity and a plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute;

receive, at the system and from the plurality of users, votes for at least one candidate data attribute value of the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute; and

automatically tally the votes and publish vote information based on the votes received from the plurality of users in connection with the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute.

14. A system, the system including:

a first means for communicating, to each of a plurality of users of a data system, a corporate data attribute relating to a corporate entity and a plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute;

a second means for receiving, at the data system and from the plurality of users, votes for at least one candidate attribute value of the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute; and

a third means for automatically tallying the votes and publishing vote information based on the votes received from the plurality of users in connection with the plurality of candidate data attribute values for the corporate data attribute.
