Google to Provide AT&T Wireless Subscribers Mobile Access to More Than 1.6 Billion Web Pages
AT&T Digital PocketNet® Service Premium Plan Customers Gain Access to World's Largest Search Engine
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - October 15, 2001 - In an ongoing effort to broaden its availability to users of wireless devices, Google Inc. today announced an agreement with AT&T Wireless to provide subscribers with Internet-ready mobile phones direct access to Google's award-winning search engine. Under the agreement, AT&T Wireless customers now can access more than 1.6 billion Internet web pages and five million WAP-ready pages on their mobile phones.
Available now, customers who subscribe to AT&T Digital PocketNet® Service Premium Plan can quickly access the Google search engine under the "Other Sites" menu screen. Google's advanced software automatically converts HTML web pages on the fly and optimizes content for WAP devices.

The alliance with AT&T Wireless marks the latest in a string of successful Google ventures with wireless providers, including market leaders such as Sprint PCS, Cingular, Handspring, Palm, Vodafone, Yahoo! Everywhere and Malaysia-based E-Chilipadi. In addition, Google has developed wireless search technologies for use on Japanese i-mode, J-Sky, and EZWeb mobile phones.
