I bought this drive as an external storage for my Apple PowerbookG4. This drive was a great deal for the size and it is just as great as all the rest of the WD line. I have been a long time fan of WD and will continue to use them until they stop providing the best HD s on the market. I ve had 2 HD s fail out of 7 and those were the only 2 that were not WD. One was a seagate that failed 2 days before this one showed at the door. That was a bummer cause this was going to be the backup for that one. Either way, I ordered a WD 320g too and it is great too. WD should be paying me for the good publicity im giving them all the time...

This hard drive has a large capacity but you can find larger capacity for less money if you look. What I like is that it is very quiet and energy efficient. I don t know how the performance compares to other drives...looks close or faster to me, but I m no expert. What does help performance is the 32MB cache.... Buy.com was the only site I could find this version of the drive(in stock in the USA). I gave this drive a 4 in value only because I know it will get cheaper soon once they are more available(I paid $132.00USD incl. shipping). So far it has performed great.
