Developed by Kojima Productions - Konami Digital Entertainment (KDEI) (2008) - Stealth - Rated Mature

Solid Snake returns as an older, battle-hardened veteran in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Series creator Hideo Kojima reprises his role as director as he brings the critically acclaimed stealth-action series to PlayStation 3 with a number of new elements. The futuristic setting now features expansive, war-torn environments with rival nations vying for control over both territory and technology. Sporting grizzled hair, wrinkles, and a moustache, the weary Snake also has an eye patch that pays homage to his character's inspiration, Escape from New York's antihero Snake Plissken.

    iGN Entertainment - Dave McCarthy - May 29, 2008 - Editorial review
If you've ever loved any one of the Metal Gear games, or any moments from the series, there will come a moment when MGS 4 will send your spirits soaring. If you've loved them all, well then there'll be many, many more. It's a masterpiece. But forget you read that. Go play it and find out for yourself. Because it's the kind of game that, if you play it after being told it's a masterpiece, might end up disappointing you… Read full review

Unexpectedly, this prompts him to gloat to series protagonist Solid Snake that his failure has proven, at last, that both hero and foe are more than mere duplicates of their "father," the legendary soldier from whom they were… Read full review
