    CNET - Rich Brown - Aug 19, 2008 - Editorial review
Pros: More features than any other desktop mouse; improved sculpt enhances comfort; software lets you customize every button.

    Cons: Not rechargeable.

Bottom Line: Logitech's MX 1100 wireless laser mouse is the best in its class thanks to a wide array of features that make navigation easier. You have to pay for all of that capability, but anyone who puts serious time in front of a PC will appreciate what this mouse can do.

The Logitech MX 1100 is the first high-end mouse revamp from Logitech in two years. It boasts some added features over the MX Revolution, Logitech's last flagship cordless mouse, but it has also lost a big feature since it's not rechargeable. Despite that loss, digital media artists, gamers, and even power users will love the breadth of control allowed by the MX 1100's wide range of buttons. And with practically no learning curve, only the $80 price tag may give you pause. Given the amount of thought put into this mouse, and how much easier it makes certain tasks, we think it's worth it.

Perhaps the most genius new feature in the MX 1100 is the one that's least noticeable. On the left side thumb rest, Logitech has actually embedded another button underneath the rubberized coating. You can't see it, but pushing it feels completely natural. Its default setting is the Document Flip feature, Logitech's own lightweight task manager, but as with every other button on the mouse, you can co ... Read full review

I _love_ the main attraction of this mouse--the user-replaceable batteries. I ve had it now for almost two months, and the battery strength is still at the top. My home is full of AA battery-operated stuff, so there are always replacement batteries to be had. But I don t anticipate replacing them more than once or twice a year. I didn t buy any other MX mouse because of the standard rechargeable problem: the battery is not user-replaceable and wears out and eventually won t hold a charge. The charge contacts will start to go. What you have is an expensive technology that trashes the mouse long before it is broken or obsolete. User-replaceable batteries mean that I ll be using the best mouse money can buy long after all the MX Revolution owners are writing negative reviews of their mice because they will no longer charge/hold a charge, but otherwise would work for years to come. Good job, Logitech. You solved the main problem with the VX series in a most simple fashion, and made it less expensive in doing so. Now you have the closest thing to the perfect mouse. If only you d give the 1100 the elegant finish of the Revolution. As for the infinite scroll wheel, every superlative that could be written about it is true for me. I have one caveat about the hidden button under the thumb grip. The software must be re-written with a quick click for users to turn off that button. It s right in the grip sweet spot, and during fast-action games you will, just at the moment when you needmore »

It s totally customizable. Plug and play, etc! Works flawlessly on my new Macbook. I got a smaller Microsoft bluetooth mouse initially, but it was a piece of crap and way too small. Who cares about the extra USB port used by this mouse...it s worth it! Get a USB hub. I got a 7-port USB hub and have more than enough ports to work with! This mouse is so awesome! It has 8 buttons!!! The scroll wheel is SO cool because it just keeps spinning and spinning freely, but you can adjust it to be like a normal scroll wheel. Get this one! It s totally worth it!
