- About me
Sara is a blogger currently living in the asshole of hell known as lower Alabama. After 10 years as a stay at home mom, she started to wonder if there was more to life than playgroup drama and PTA meetings. In what some might call an early midlife crisis, she woke up from the Stepford nightmare, filed for divorce, and shortly thereafter became one of the only people to ever get kicked off the PTA board. As no bad deed ever goes unpunished, she is currently living in purgatory with her ex waiting on the Longest Divorce in History(TM) to be finished. Ever the romantic, Sara refuses to give up on love, and plans on importing her next husband from overseas, claiming that even if the next one drives her crazy, a sexy accent would at least be worth the trouble.
Not knowing enough to call herself an expert in anything, but knowing plenty enough to get herself in trouble, Sara loves to spend her time blogging and exploring all things technology and social media related. Despite her affiliations, she staunchly refuses to be called a geek, claiming she just enjoys the company of people smarter than she. Leave it be, denial is her happy place.
In May 2009 she co-organized her first Barcamp in Mobile, AL. After a successful inaugural event, she then pledged to bring Barcamp back to Mobile again in 2010. (Glutton for punishment? Absolutely!) She is currently heavily involved in pulling together the Mobile Bay Technology Alliance, a local organization who’s mission is to promote an active tech community that will encourage growth in the business community in Mobile and Baldwin counties. (What’s that mean? She’s not sure yet, but it has potential. Lots of it.)
Online she can be found playing around on all the newest social media sites, but currently makes Twitter (@subrbanoblivion) , Facebook , and Friendfeed her home spots. She blogs at Suburban Oblivion, but can also be found propping her stilettos up on the desk as co-editor to the up-and-coming humor site, the Daily Shite .
