- About me
When I started Freelance Library Services in Dayton, Ohio, back in 1987, no one could have dreamed of where information storage and retrieval technology was headed. But, within ten years, the library building and research services business was gone-- with a personal computer and the Internet, few people needed libraries and almost everyone could do his or her own research (or at least they thought they could)-- I was out of a job!
Forced to change directions, I branched off into the realm of editing and helping writers polish their words. That change led to the founding of The Freelance Editor, commonly known as the-freelance-editor, and a variety of new specialties: helping individuals organize and write their memoirs, personal histories, and family histories and guiding organizations and corporations to write their business profiles led to the Personal History Editor; working with museums in developing specialized teaching tools led to the Museums Editor; helping small businesses get online and build a virtual presence led to the Web Page Editor and the BLOG editor; and writers who needed somewhere to get away and write encouraged me to start a writing retreat, the Orlando-Mulford Retreat, where they can also have their own private editor on standby!
Other adventures are coming, and no single writing project is ever the same as another, so I try to write periodically in an Editor's Blog-- but that is much easier said than done!
