The Future of Arcades: Get Inside a Human Hamster Ball - Popular Science - New Technology, Science News, The Future Now
Yes: this is, in fact, the largest video-game peripheral you've ever seen. The VirtuSphere is a new interface that captures movements in 360 degrees, and translates them into a video game. The gang over at Joystiq first caught wind of the human hamster ball in '06, but got to see it in the flesh just this week. The system sees where and how fast you're running through a sensor panel it sits on...

Hyper-Realistic Acrylic Body Painting

Alexa Meade thinks completely backwards. Most artists use acrylic paints to create portraits of people on canvas. But not Meade - she applies acrylic paints on her subjects and makes them appear to be part of a painting!

Roscoe Ellis - Okay, I came back and caught the whole thing. There was some skippage until I turned off the HD (I work with ancient hardware, a personal decision, helps me fly under the radar) then it played just fine. From a technical standpoint, this was very well done. The artistic message I found disgustingly Pollyanna-ish. But that's just me. I kept waiting for Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) to wade in with some serious fire power and blow all those cutesy plant critters to bits.Mar 11

THE NEW DORK - Entrepreneur State of Mind (Jay-Z ft Alicia Keys Spoof) (via @Mashable -)

This is a Pantless Knights tribute to our favorite entrepreneurs (who are all "new dorks").

It's a spoof of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind," from the guys behind Grasshopper.com (thank you!). We made it because there's a new type of dork that is cooler than ever. Look at tech entrepreneurs, hipsters, Computer Science Barbie - they're all super popular new dorks! Don't forget to rate, comment and subscribe!

Viral Facebook Page Wants To Make 'Hella' An Actual Number (via All Facebook) The official name of the Fan page is “The Official Petition to Establish ‘Hella-’ as the SI Prefix for 10^27.” That is, 10 to the power of 27, or ‘1′ followed by 27 zeros. The idea, which has drawn the attention of media outlets such as Fox News and Popular Science, partially stems from the use of numeric prefixes such...

By the way I still don't use any exa, zetto or yotta prefix (before you posted this i even didn't know they existed). So let's wait to vote for Hella. Maybe there will be other propositions like ksitta or epsa to vote for...

Luca Zenari - There are some things that look to me as "hasted conclusions": the so-called fossilized branches. Fossilization takes a very long time, and happens only in specific ground types (that's why fossils are a rare event). The ground of that area can be of the right type for a fossilization to occour, but it would mean that the Ark is older than humanity itself. Surely older than the first ships built by men: we have found canoes, built by the very first men (I'm speaking of men, as in Cro-Magnon men) that are still made of wood, not yet fossilized. A fossilized ship, especially of that size, would date back probably to the Carbonifer-Permian age (about 300 millions years ago).
Also, there's a similar formation (with similar anchor-stones) in India, same shape, same size, same formations. Which makes the whole thing even more interesting to study.
