  • About me
I'm a poet, editor, and web publisher from the eastern edge of western Pennsylvania. I'm co-editor of qarrtsiluni, an online literary magazine; co-manager of the Festival of the Trees, a monthly blog carnival; and founding member of the group blog Open Micro, devoted to poetry in 140 or fewer characters. I've been publishing my own material on the web since 2003, mostly at Via Negativa. Some of my poems are collected at Shadow Cabinet, a self-published e-book, and I keep a daily journal of prose-micropoems at The Morning Porch. Other sites include Moving Poems, a daily compendium of video poetry from around the web, and Visual Soma, a photoblog.

I live in Plummer's Hollow, Pennsylvania. I'm currently serving as vice-president of the Juniata Valley Audubon Society, based in Altoona, PA., despite the fact that I am not a real birdwatcher. I'm in charge of the programs for our monthly meetings, so please get in touch if you have a program idea. I also sometimes help out with local conservation agit-prop, for example in the fight against poorly sited industrial wind plants (see Save Our Allegheny Ridges for more on that and related issues).

Publication credits
I've placed poems and translations in Pivot, West Branch, The Sun, Wind, frogpond, Bamboo, Bird Watcher’s Digest, Art TimesStudies in Contemporary Satire, Reimagining Place, and Poetry for the Masses, as well as in an anthology of blogger-poets called Brilliant Coroners. My photos and essays have appeared in Cha, Galatea Resurrects, The Mobility Forum, Sawmill and Woodlot, the New Hampshire Public Radio website, and various other places I've lost track of. All of my photos and writings are available for reproduction or remixing under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license.

Contact and stalking
You can contact me using this form. Friend requests on Facebook are nearly always granted; I use FB to keep track of literary contacts for qarrtsiluni, as well as to keep up with actual friends and members of the extended family. If you're into poetry, join me on Read Write Poem, the new social network for poets. And yes, you can follow me on Twitter if you insist -- but Identi.ca is much cooler, and that's my real micro-messaging home base. I'm on Friendfeed, too, but I'm not really using it for anything other than lifestreaming right now. I guess if you're allergic to Facebook, but for some reason wanted to follow my status updates there, you could get that via Friendfeed. Yowza.

Family on the web
My mother, Marcia Bonta, is a naturalist-writer, the author of nine books and more than 300 magazine articles. My father, Bruce Bonta, curates Peaceful Societies, the best source for information about nonviolent societies on the web, with new articles appearing every week.
