I was a born tinkerer; good at science I went on to get a degree in mechanical engineering then did postgrad work in space plasma physics. I have always enjoyed being outdoors, particularly in the mountains, and have climbed about a dozen 4,000m peaks in the European Alps. I also like music, particularly reggae, jazz and traditional West African stuff. I am a keen cyclist and cycling advocate.
