Jeremy Clark - Thought you were serious. I fail at Internet sarcasm detection. :-(Jul 30DeleteUndo deleteReport spamNot spam
Mark Rodenhauser - Weren't you there when @Michael Jones discovered booble.com? For some reason I remembered it being me, him, you and manderson, or maybe it was @Bryan Hill ... but memory just happens to be what I suck at.

Mark Rodenhauser - well we were over by the NOC, in that wall of cubes that manderson worked in. I think it was his cube. I just thought of all my favorite people from that area.... @Bryan Hill did not come up in my first round selection ;)Jul 30DeleteUndo deleteReport spamNot spam

LikeIf you read only one post this year about choosing a technology, read this one by Alex Payne:
http://al3x.net/2010/07/27/node.html
Now I perhaps don't know as much as I once thought I did, but it seems to me that if anything, Alex doesn't make the point strong enough: your choice of programming language, and your personal productivity programming in that language, or even the inherent...Expand this post »

LikeSkype updated to support iOS 4 background VoIP multitasking - TiPb - The #1 iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch blog
Skype for iPhone has just hit version 2.1 and brings with it the ability to run iOS 4 background VoIP multitasking. Yes, you finally have the ability to leave Skype running and answer calls as an almost equal citizen to the built in, old-school Phone app. Hurrah. If you try it out, let us know how it works for you. [iTunes via BGR] Skype updated to support iOS 4 background VoIP multitasking...Expand this post »

Jeremy Clark - FINALLY! I guess Fring finally scared them into action.Jul 21DeleteUndo deleteReport spamNot spam
Mark Rodenhauser - @Jeremy Clark Another VOIP service I like to often bring attention to is Ooma. Ooma requires a one time dedicated hardware purchase ($100 - $200) and is then completely free for the equivalent functionality of a SkypeIn number, plus some nice features like web voice mail E911. The reliability and call quality are far superior to SkypeIn as well. (usability as well, depending on your goals) Now if they would only wise up and learn from Skype with their iPhone app and enable incoming calls. They charge for non-Ooma-to-Ooma mobile calls at 2c a min, and the quality on both is awesome. Optionally if you have their premium service @ $10 a month 250 mobile minutes are thrown in along with a slew of cool features both similar to and integrating with Google Voice.
Not much beats Skype and Fring for video especially since it's mobile now, and free skype-to-skype is still pretty amazing since anyone can start up on Skype for free. So that's pretty much where I'm at: Skype is for free international and video...which I really don't do... and Ooma is a true replacement for home phone, and mobile in a pinch. Just wish I knew more Ooma subscribers :-)Jul 21DeleteUndo deleteReport spamNot spam

LikeIf you're looking to reserve an iPhone 4, go to an Apple Store if possible. It's a much nicer experience than dealing with AT&T.
Mark Rodenhauser - Pretty much always been the case. Apple employees are payed to appear nice, friendly, and knowledgeable, and let the product do most of the selling. The only thing they've ever tried to "pressure" me on is their service plan. AT&T store employees are payed to sell contracts, period... the hardware is just a means to an end for them. They will actively disparage the hardware if it helps them sell a (pricier) plan.
Also Apple seems to give a flying F*CK about their image.Jul 15DeleteUndo deleteReport spamNot spam

Jeremy Clark - The problem I had with AT&T is that they wouldn't accept a debit card or cash to reserve an iPhone. Credit cards only. Apple doesn't charge you until the phone is in hand, so they don't care how you pay. Jul 15DeleteUndo deleteReport spamNot spam
