Well I saved an extra $34 on my luggage, but have yet to hear if it has been shipped. This is ridiculous.

Day 4 of eating better food. I have had to add and remove certain things from my diet due to health issues and so far it is going well. I am not eating 100% healthy, but the things I do eat are prepared healthier. Like a hamburger is cooked on a George Foreman grill so that there is less fat and I am eating it with more fruits and vegatables. In the mornings I am no longer eating eggs, bacon, or...

Jermaine Maree - No bacon?!? :D

Eat oatmeal w/ fruit instead of cereal. Add a lil brown sugar (not that kinda brown sugar) if you have a sweet tooth. Substitute half of your Gatorade w/ water. Yeah it has no flavor, so what, get use to it!

Other than that I commend you and keep up the great work!

Peter Manis - Don't tell me what kind of brown sugar I can add!!!! :p

I have a ton of oatmeal at home I need to go through, it is on my list of health todos. I plan on moving to just water with gatorade being my once a day, but first I need to get myself away from the caffeine and the bubbles :p
Mar 9
Chris Schrier - I think the water switch will be a big help. Iirc, gatorade has a lot more sodium and carbohydrates than you need for normal consumption.Mar 9
Peter Manis - Yeah, my biggest problem with switching to water is just getting in the habit. I used to use 0 calorie flavor packets with water, but after getting into soda not having the caffeine and sugar gets to me after a while, I am trying to drop the caffeine first then I'll move off gatorade to flavored water.Mar 9
Ken Wehr - I would give you some nutrition advice, but I'm a fat guy so it would be mostly just ironic.Mar 9
Chris Schrier - @Ken Wehr nothing says you would follow the advice yourself.Mar 9

Just got back from Crate and Barrel, damn that store. I just bought an 8 piece Wusthof Classic knife set, and a sofa. I found it odd that it was more difficult for me to pull the trigger on the sofa than it would have been buying a computer that costs twice as much.

My new sofa, 93" of comfy goodness (46" deep :-) I'm not a huge fan of brown, but I felt that black would look odd in the apartment and this will match funiture.

I almost bought the Ikon, but I have smaller hands and they didn't feel right with the more ergonomic handles.

Peter Manis - Yeah I didn't have a good set of knives, but the knives shouldn't have to be replaced ever, and the sofa should last a long time.Mar 8

Just finished organizing the main cabinets in the kitchen. Its amazing how much space you can make by just being more efficient with your organization. Starting on the small cabinets now, my guess is I am going to have a couple empty cabinets.

Ugg, I am thinking about buying a sofa and a nice media console for the TV and such. Unfortunately the things I want are from Crate & Barrel so of course it is $$$. They would be good quality, and used on a regular basis, its just more money to spend.

I'm so in love with my George Foreman Grill and my new Wusthof Santoku knife. I think that these two purchases will make me cook more.

YAY! Wave now has email notifications I might actually use it now. I started a new wave a few minutes ago, we'll see if it was a good format for it.
Chris Schrier - probably not.Mar 4
Peter Manis - Haha. I have seen a few interesting uses for it. I think as a discussion platform is can be pretty good. A proposal that you want people to comment on or information you know people may reply to specific parts of.Mar 4

OMG please turn off Google Reader sharing on buzz, I will stop following over it and I don't want to. I already see your items on Google reader
Adam Flaig - sorry about that I didn't realize it was on. Thanks for letting me knowMar 4

Chris Schrier - Sadly many people are saying the opposite, that they will ONLY read shared items from buzz.Mar 4
Peter Manis - The only real problem I have with it is that there is no real order. If I don't like the items someone usually shares I can't avoid that person's shared items without unfollowing them. I also find it a bit overwhelming to read buzz and see 12 posts in a row from people who shared stuff on reader.

Maybe I just need to adjust, but there really needs to be something on my side to control what I see from who.
Mar 4
Peter Manis - It is very possible I will get used to it and start doing it myself, when I posted this I opened buzz and was flooded with stuff I would have read this weekend on reader.Mar 4
Chris Schrier - Personally I had to limit how much I was sharing in Reader so I wouldn't overwhelm others in Buzz. I still read people's shared items in reader too.Mar 4

I'm considering turning my desk into a standing desk. In the past week I've seen two separate articles about how bad it is to sit all day. Apparently even if you ride a bike or run every day you are at an increased risk of several diseases.

Sleeping through my alarm when I took a nap this afternoon kinda screwed up my sleep schedule. Next weekend is gonna be crazy cause I'm going to do a mass organization of the apartment. I need to get rid of some of these electronics I don't use along with old stuff that isn't touched. I also need to do a sweep of my paperwork I have sitting in boxes.

I moved some stuff into the 2nd room until the weekend and it was so much nicer having extra room at the entrance, I think going through everything this weekend is going to result in a nice pile of stuff to sell.

Anyone use US Airways have a Delta Sky Miles account they would like to trade? I have a US Airways account with 2750 miles on it and I would like to trade it for a Delta account with at least 1800 miles.

Both carriers support merging accounts

For years I've put off getting a good set of luggage. I just ordered some of the Eagle Creek HC2 Duffle pieces along with some of their Pack-It accessories.

Bergman Luggage, the place I purchased it from, had pretty standard prices, but they did free shipping and there was a coupon for 15% off so overall it was a good deal.
Trevor Sehrer - Nice looking bag! I'm planning a trip, too. No real deals, save for the occasional promo code that I can find online. However, the rental car company I'm using is charging me $50 less when I book my rental for an extra 2 days. I'm a bit confused, but I'm happy for the deal.Mar 1

Peter Manis - I just signed up for the Delta dining rewards to earn miles that way, right now if you spend $25 at a participating restaurant they will give you the points for the restaurant plus another 1000 miles. I know you are also a Delta fan so if you haven't signed up it'd be a good chance to get some miles.Mar 1
Trevor Sehrer - Cool, thanks for the tip! I just made it through the marathon sign-up form and added 2 cards.Mar 1

The 'find' command IMO is not given the credit it deserves. I ignored it for so long because I didn't want to bother remembering all the flags, but I am regretting it now that I've been solving a lot of problems with it.

# Find all directories that arent 755, and chmod them to 755
find . -type d ! -perm 755 -exec chmod 755 {} \;

Maybe someone following me can answer this question or put me in touch with a dean/professor that might know more.

I recently heard that a Dean can make an exception to allow a student to take graduate courses and get a masters degree without having a bachelors degree. In talking to a few people they seem to understand the same would be possible, but if anyone has more information or knows someone I can talk to I'd appreciate it.
