The Falling Moon by Steven Villaverde
The night glittered with such luminosity on the sky, the people below feared a never ending darkness and ran towards the hills. At its peak, they wailed for hours on end. The elderly holding onto their canes; parents holding onto their children and the youngest of the youngest holding onto their thumbs; all while looking upwards.
Such cries continued as the moon walked them by little by little. Despite the multitude of eyes on the heavens, only a young girl stepped away from the masses and began to chase this strange bright rock. With every hour, her fellow companions grew smaller and smaller until it could not be seen.
As the glowing fire rose opposite of the moon and lit every earthbound material, the masses let loose and gazed at each other. Soon the stare of all eyes focused on a young woman swiftly moving around. And just as quickly, the youngest of the youngest began to cry and the parents held onto to their children even tighter than before. The elderly, however, threw their canes at the young dashing woman, clamoring her to depart with her chaos.
And so .... to be continued
