Hailing from Chattanooga Tennessee, I, Daniel Ryan, commonly known as “dryan”, am a freelance web developer and front end engineer. Since 1997, I have been involved with web development and engineering. I have honed my skills in HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, Python, Django, PHP and XML. I am HTML and CSS certified with the World Wide Web Consortium.

My achievements include guest lecturing with the University of Tennessee Chattanooga Web Development Program. I was also interviewed as an industry expert for Teach the Web by Leslie Jensen-Innman , a book about web standards and techniques with information from experts in the web industry.

From 2007 to 2009 I worked with Coptix, currently known as Medium , where I served as the Front End Department Manager. Notable projects while contributing at Coptix include olanmills.com site redesign, cdmfun.org , urbanrocksgym.com ,terminalbrewhouse.com , picturerx.com and a number of opensource plugins for the jQuery library .

Aside from my freelance work, I have contributed in my community as a leader in the forefront of local programs and events. I am highly involved in creating community within the city of Chattanooga by utilizing technology to provide social forums. As a founding organizer of ChattUp , a social event for local Twitter and Facebook users, I have helped develop a way for the community to meet in social event gatherings throughout Chattanooga. I am also the founding director ofBarCamp Chattanooga , a forum for the web community to share ideas and discuss various topics. I currently contribute time as the Technical Director for theChattarati.com website, a Chattanooga blog dedicated to social and political activities happening throughout the city.

I graduated in 2005 from Lee University , Cleveland, Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts in History with an emphasis in Media. In 2006, I attended the University of Manchester and was awarded a Master of Arts with Merit in War, Culture and History.

Originally from the Lakeland, Florida area, I currently reside in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where I have lived since 2000.
