I am a mixed-blood American citizen, of 3rd generation American father and 4th/5th generation Mexican mother. Ever since childhood I've had the fortune of traveling to many places and seeing many different cultures, thus developed a love for deep-rooted traditions, travel and for people.
I am a kind of new renaissance-man, if you will, in that my interests are vast yet my goals are focused. For example, as early as Primary school i found a love for mathematics and it's "perfection." I also was involved with Siddha Yoga in Mexico D.F. in my childhood which taught me a bit of Eastern Philosophy. During Middle School I found a love for computers, which helped me develop a love for the Internet in the early 90s, right before the "browser" had become widespread, as well as Philosophy and Debate. In High School I found a passion for Physics and Mechanics, leading me to believe I would become a computer Engineer. After much reflection, I turned down my acceptance from Berkeley's school of Engineering for a more "general" undeclared major at UCLA where I studied various Upper Division subjects ranging from Chinese, Latin American studies, European History, World Politics, Mathematics, Computers, Physics, Film, Literature to finally Majoring in International Economics with European Concentration and receiving a Minor in Mathematics and specialization in Computing.
Basically, I "never let schooling get in the way of my Education," as Mark Twain would say, and thus always picked subjects which would expand my thirst for knowledge. In retrospect, this was probably not the smartest thing to do if someone's focus is a high GPA for prospective employers, but I'd rather improve my abilities than my "paper record." Thus to this day I don't have a regret about my choices.
Outside of my University life, I began my real education. From learning Martial Arts in China, to first-hand research on Economics of the world's fastest growing economy, to developing business contacts, and meeting new and interesting people, through practicing leadership, marketing, testing what works and what doesn't I have continued to expand my horizons.
I spent a while in China, and, through my good fortune and my "yuan fen," the Chinese word for Destiny in meeting people, I have developed relationships with Government Officials, Entrepreneurs, CEOs, Financial Analysts, Salesmen, Marketing Consultants, School owners, Doctors, teachers and students alike.
Besides being fluent in Spanish, I have also developed fluency in Mandarin Chinese, and developed an intermediate level of French, which given the opportunity I'm sure I could pick right up again. I am currently trying to master Chinese language and Chinese culture though, which will continue to occupy most of my free time.
I'm very success oriented, and driven to achieve results in everything I set out to do. Currently I have been developing an online Ecommerce business, which in the past year and a half has had a tremendous growth and unprecedented success. I attribute that, modestly, to having selected extremely capable partners as well as having developed a results-oriented team, to a lot of hard work, and to a little bit of luck.
I believe an overwhelming desire for success, perseverance until the end, and a great love for life are the greatest qualities that I learned from both my father and my dear late mother. They are also my greatest strengths.
All in all, I live a life of dedication and to the pursuit for knowledge.
