- About me
There's a handful of Mark Azevedo's out there, especially on the internet, where many of them are actually me (zeromerk.) Despite all this, there's not much background information about myself.
Here I am, in a nutshell:
While I appreciate the light breeze of server fans, the soft hum of machines, and the aesthetic of well-organized code and software... I prefer working with other people, sharing ideas.
As a lifelong learner and dabbler, I started in IT and began programming even earlier. Starting with the oft-nostalgic procedural language Pascal, I've moved to Java, C++, PHP, Python, and more recently Ruby. While some of these skills have grown quite rusty, I'm the model: "jack of all trades, master of none." However, such a saying betrays my ability in my skills I use most. I'm a web guy, who enjoys working with open source technology; I truly feel at home when surrounded by HTML/CSS and LAMP stack in my projects. My latest obsession has been dynamic languages and MVC frameworks, and I yearn for them whenever I'm stuck with more verbose languages or messy codebases. I code on a Mac, serve on Linux, and sometimes support for Windows. That last skill has grown a little rusty, much to my delight.
I'm a high-level thinker, where often my pragmatism outweighs my creativity. It's also worth mentioning that I'm working on that, to hopefully be more well-rounded. If you see me in real life, I'm fascinated with words, adventure, nature, and situations worth smiling about. Hopefully, this has been informative as well as revealing.
