Introduction to using LPub 4

This is an introduction to using LPub 4 to create instructions for a simple model. When you first run LPub, you need to locate your LDraw directory and a renderer such as LDView (version 3.2 or higher recommended); these steps are shown in the video.

You can download the files featured in the video:

- car-initial.mpd is the unmodified model.
- car-final.mpd contains all the LPub statements.
- gradient.png is the background image.
- car.pdf is the output.

Each page of the instructions, as well as a decorative cover page, are available as images on Flickr.

To rotate step images, see my article about ROTSTEP statements.

I apologize for the poor clarity of the video.

Bricksmith Minifig Editing

Bricksmith Minifig Editing

Bricksmith's Minifigure Generator is great, but it doesn't edit existing minifigs. You can manipulate minifig elements individually, but it can be difficult to preserve their alignment.

Bricksmith's Rotate panel allows you to rotate a group of pieces around an arbitrary point (among other references). Once you locate the joint axes, you can use this option to pose minifigs in a way that is fairly reversible.
