WausauPaper Corp., plans to eliminate close to 150 jobs at its mill in Jay, Maine. As a result of the layoff, it will ultimately have to shut down one of its two paper machines. These layoffs are said to occur in late December. According to its president and CEO, Thomas Howatt, the liner machine is too expensive to have in today's business environment. The machine has the capacity to produce 40,000 tons a year. As a result of the plants elimination, Wausaua Paper will approximately endure $1o million in pre-tax charges. This paper company produces and markets many paper products like fine printing and writing paper, technical specialty paper, and towel and tissue products. In the 2007 fiscal year, this company brought in $1.2 billion in revenue. EmploymentCrossing.com
