Natty Bongo chords

The chord sequence to this tune always evaded me, for 20 years I couldn't figure them out. My copy is not in pitch so I slowed it down in WinAmp (Slowdowner) to pitch it in E and a musical friend figured them out right away. so I thought I'd seal it with a video recording. It's my most favourite reggae tune written by Owen Gray (197*) who is a virtually unknown Jamacian singer. I asked a reggae DJ to play something by him recently and he had never heard of him!

Piney Woods Girl - Robin Gillan

Audio recording is unfortunately of poor quality but still the discerning listener will distinguise between Robin Gillan on harmonica & guitar and me (Colm Daly) on fiddle, live at Goring Unplugged late 2007.............. VIDEO: Features Peter Dunne & Robin Gillan up Bray Head in Ireland 2002

Newtowners Barn Dance Band 3

The Newtowners Barn Dance BandA great big thank you to one and all for coming last Saturday and for offering your email address for any future events. Its too soon to say as yet when the next might be but be assured you will be kept informed of developments. I know it goes without saying, but without your enthusiasm for a good old-fashioned good time none of this would even get off the ground, so thanks again. Feedback has been tremendous which we feel is an endorsement of our minimalist approach. Whereas other barn dances lavish ever bigger bands and PA on you we, on the other hand, hanker back to how it was done in days of yore, and with a ticket price to match too! The beaming faces around the dancehall on Saturday said it all, and on behalf of the band may I now say how enjoyable it was to play for you. We are also indebted to caller and box player extraordinaire Hugh Crabtree for holding it all together and whose skilful and contagious rapport with you the dancers made it simply impossible not to have a good time. From a musical point of view as the pianist, I am indebted to Robin Gillan for travelling so far to play with us, and I think you will all agree that his contribution was outstanding. We are also thankful to the staff at OLOP for pulling out all the stops and looking after us so well.Any points you might like to raise to improve on any part of it for the next time would be most welcome. On behalf of The Newtowners Barn Dance Band.
Best regards, and heres a little reminder of the interlude on Saturday:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khcqr75hckecolm Daly
