The NY Jets will look to help their passing game on Draft Day. Hey everyone this is Dana Ward with our NY Jets NFL Draft Coverage on GamblersTelevision.com. Sitting with the sixth pick in the NFL Draft are the NY Jets coming off a 4-12 season. The Jets can?t be happy with their quarterback situation, as both Kellen Clemens and Chad Pennington were ineffective. Pennington is coming off two shoulder surgery?s in recent years and questions will always remain about his arm strength and his poor ability to throw the deep ball. The organization may have given up on Pennington as Clemens was heralded as their quarterback of the future. The question is do the Jets want to risk that precious first round selection on a weak crop of quarterbacks?? It?s doubtful so they will look at a wide receiver to help their passing game. The Jets will go wide out in the first round and a really talented one will be available to them in 6? 3 3/4 inch Malcolm Kelly from Oklahoma. Kelly is big, strong and athletic and will give the Jets a nice target to throw to for passing touchdowns in the red zone. Kelly finished his college career at Oklahoma ranked #2 in the program in TD catches with 21 and receiving yards with 2285 in his career. Ranked #2 in the program is impressive but what?s even more impressive is he did this while skipping his senior year of college. Jet fans you are getting a good one here. The Red Sox bats have woke up, as Boston is team batting averaged reached .285 heading into Thursday's action. Jon Lester has struggled on the mound with his control as he has walked 15 batters in 20 1/3rd's innings pitched this season. Lester only averages about 5 1/3rd innings per appearance this season and the Red Sox bullpen has not been good this season with a 5.57 ERA. The Rangers are in a rebuilding year and in last in the American League West. Jennings has gotten pounded this season sporting an ERA of 8.79 in three starts this season. Jennings last season with Houston had an ERA of 6.79 in 18 starts as teams hit .300 against him. Teams are batting .311 this season so far so the switch to the American League has not gone well for Jennings. Jennings is coming off major elbow surgery last season and is trying to find his form of years past. Both offenses are salivating at the thoughts of facing these two struggling pitchers. Johan Santana dropped a decision last Saturday in his first home start as a Met against the Brewers as he surrendered three home runs to Milwaukee hitters in defeat. Santana has been solid this season striking out 18, walking 4 and allowing just under 1 base runner per innings pitched. The Mets broke a 9 game losing streak against the Phillies by taking the last 2 at home in their series last week. Cole Hamels has been good this season, as the left-hander has given up only 2 earned runs 22 innings pitched this season. Hamels pitched well in 2 lifetime starts against the Mets at Shea. Both pitchers are in good form and don't allow baserunners. I am going to play this one under 8 ½ runs.

Arizona's starting pitching has been good as advertised this season but their bats have been outstanding as the D' Backs opened the season 11-4 in their first 15 games. The Diamondbacks are averaging over 6 runs a game leading Major League Baseball and hitting .273 as a team second in the National League. Despite hitting .263 as a team the Padres aren't scoring runs as they average only 3.3 runs per game second last in all of Major League Baseball. Chris Young was tagged for 6 earned runs and 7 hits over 7 innings in his last start versus the Dodgers. Young isn't striking out batters like he used to and is struggling with command as he has walked 12 batters in 17 innings pitched. Dan Haren has given up only 2 earned runs over 12 innings in his last 2 starts. Haren only allows only 1 base runner per inning and doesn't walk too many batters. Haren has gotten the strikeout this season as he gets 1 per inning and will face a Padre team the worst in baseball striking out averaging about 8 per game. Diamondback hitters pounded Young last season scoring 16 earned runs over 19 2/3rd's innings. Lay the chalk here with Arizona ?145.

The Kansas City Chiefs have many holes on their football team as the Draft approaches. Hey everyone this is Dana Ward with our Kansas City Chiefs NFL Draft Coverage on GamblersTelevision.com. Sitting with the fifth pick in the NFL Draft are the Kansas City Chiefs coming off a 4-12 season. Kansas City needs tons of help from this draft. They need help on their defensive line as they rank 28th in the league against the run as they give up 130 yards per game. Sedrick Ellis, defensive lineman from USC would make the most sense for the Chiefs with their first pick. Ellis will demand a double team in the NFL Of his 58 tackles last season 12 ½ were for negative yardage. Ellis played nose tackle last year at USC and the Trojans were very good at stopping the run. Ellis has first step quickness and is a disruptive force against opposing run games. Ellis also can put pressure on the quarterback as he had 8 ½ sacks last season. Another area of concern for the Chiefs is their poor offense from last season. The Chiefs once proud running game has sunk to the worst in the league last season as they averaged only 78 yards per game on the ground. They have lost 3 starting offensive lineman to free agency and are going to use the draft for replenishment. The good news for the Chiefs is they have 10 picks in the early rounds of the draft and most likely will go offensive lineman in the middle rounds. Their wide receiving corps was among the worst in the NFL. The Chiefs should not gamble here and wait to draft a defensive lineman later in the draft because one may not command a double team later in the draft and that will be a disaster.
