  1. Every semester when I get my book list, I see the prices of the books at my college book store and have a mild heart attack. There have been semesters when I could have spent nearly $1000 on books alone! But with BookRenter, I can get those same books, always in perfect condition (or very nearly so--I think I once got one with some highlighting/underlining in it), for a tiny fraction of their retail price. I have paid as little as $16.99 to rent a book for five months that would have cost me $250 to buy. Plus, shipping is cheap and reasonably fast, and return shipping is paid for AND super easy. I pretty much can't say enough good things about this site, and I recommend it to everyone I know! :)

  3. Prices at campus bookstores and other book stores in town are outrageous. Even renting used books cost up 3x more than what it costs to use bookrenter. Increasing textbook prices make it more and more difficult to get a higher level education, this site really levels out the playing field for those paying out of pocket costs.

  1. I ordered a book for 40 ish dollars, same as the price for a rental in the campus bookstore, but the campus one was out of rentals and tried to get me to buy a brand new one for over a hundred and fifty dollars. It was really straightforward, I ordered the book, it came on time. Then my teacher said that we didn't "need" the book, so I returned it early to my campus bookstore (has some kind of connection to the site, you can apparently drop books off some places instead of shipping them back) and got a notice of refund email in my inbox a few minutes later. Cool.Because the book was returned for my reasons, not their bad, they didn't refund the 7 ish dollar shipping, but if I had opened a new one from the bookstore I'd be out over $100 (bookstore buyback SUCKS). Over all a really good experience, I'll probably use them again if I have problems with the campus bookstore.

  2. I HAVE TO UPDATE THIS REVIEW: I just received a call from a bookrenter customer service representative. They called me in reference to this review. They apologized for the inconvenience I experienced. They also said they would refund to me the cost of the damaged book and told me how to avoid incurring this type of fee again. Due to this voluntary action, I think I will almost definitely use them again.I thought renting from this company was a good idea but I was sooooo wrong. To start with, I ordered 6 books total. The books were in not so gently used condition, but I thought nothing of it. Ended up dropping class at the very beginning of the semester (less than a week in) since it wasn't required and tried to get a refund for the book for it. I was told I was screwed because I was ONE DAY past my return date. Tried to see if I can get a partial refund or any type of credit but they were useless. Then fast forward to the end of the semester I send all my books back and get a charge ...

  3. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH BOOKRENTER!!Rented a book from them and literally only used it once and put it in my drawer the rest of the semester. I returned it in the SAME, EXACT condition but ended up getting charged for major damages..saying the pages were "chewed on and torn". Talked to customer service but that was a complete joke. They took forever to respond on their online chat service and spewed out robotic messages.
