  1. Claim they never received my book back, continued to charge almost 200 in late fees without any sort of contact with me. Rented book in May of 2013, returned shortly after the semester ended. Thought that was the end of it. Almost one year later I happened to notice a charge of 8.77 on my account from BOOKRENTER. Didn't have a clue what it was so I went back and checked my account with Book Renter. Not only did they claim to never received my book they had been charging an extension fee of 8.77 x 18 for the last year. Customer service was NO help, all they kept asking for was my tracking number. I'm sorry but I am not going to keep a tracking number for a year

  2. I believe they outsource their customer service, which is why solving anything usually takes multiple phone calls. I was charged twice and sent two copies of the same book when I only wanted one, and I called as soon as I got the confirmation email (let's say 15 minutes after placing the order) and they told me they couldn't do anything about it until I received both books. When I received them and I tried to return the book I didn't order, they tried to make me pay for the shipping cost to return it. When I said I'd like to speak with a manager, they wouldn't get one on the line. At first they made up something about them helping other people, then another agent told me there weren't any in the building. When I finally got the shipping credit they made me jump through further hoops to get it resolved, such as making sure I shipped the "right" copy back (there want anything to distinguish them apart, and they said if I shipped the "wrong" one I'd have to send the other one back too.) ...

  3. I needed a book plus an accompanying set of 5 CD's for a class which was to start in 2 weeks. I thought I had found it on BookRenter, since I typed in the ISBN # of the book/CD set package, and it came up on their site, including the title of the item, "Music: An Appreication Brief WITH 5 CD SET." Sadly, when the package arrived, it contained ONLY the book (which I could have purchased much more cheaply than the price I paid for the rental), but NO Cd's. When I called customer service and entered the order #, the computerized voice even asked me to verify that I was calling regarding the item "...with 5 CD set." But the man I spoke with quickly and nonchalantly informed me that they "do not guarantee that supplemental items will be included." Well, this item was ADVERTISED as including them (that's what the word "with" means), so I asked how I could get the CD's sent to me. He said that wasn't possible. In other words, they apparently don't even HAVE any CD sets to send out to anyone, ...

  1. AWFUL customer service. I bought a book from them and they sent me another person's order! They told me there was nothing they could do for me and they couldn't even send me the correct book but they did ask if I could send the wrong book back. I highly doubt it will make it to the right person. It would probably be better If I personally sent it to the person. DO NOT USE THEM. They are a scam. Yes, the prices are low but the low price doesn't mean anything when you get the wrong book and the company does nothing to make it right.

  2. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH BOOKRENTER!!Rented a book from them and literally only used it once and put it in my drawer the rest of the semester. I returned it in the SAME, EXACT condition but ended up getting charged for major damages..saying the pages were "chewed on and torn". Talked to customer service but that was a complete joke. They took forever to respond on their online chat service and spewed out robotic messages.

  3. Bookrenter sent me a badly damaged booked. It had been dropped in water/toilet, dried and so although it was legible, I contacted them to let them know. All was well until they charged my account the full price of the book and said I damaged the book!! I am livid. They will not get a dime of my money and I will take them to small claims court if I have to as a principle! I am honest, I would not return a book damaged ever!
