  2. I ordered a new Honda EU7000is. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition, with lift gate delivery as promised. The driver was friendly and courteous. I had also ordered a couple of accessories and they arrived within two days of ordering. All in all, a great buying experience. I had several options for where to purchase this generator. The fact that Electric Generators Direct is a Google Trusted Store was key to my decision. Thanks!

  1. Before I ordered a generator from these guys, I checked the prices and asked if there were any upcoming sales. I was told no, yet before I even received the generator, the item's price was reduced by 10%.I was told that this was a promotion run by the manufacturer and that my generator was purchased prior to the effective dates of the promotion.I was further told that to return the unopened generator would incur a 25% restocking fee of $250.When I expressed my displeasure, the representative became very terse and hung up on me.This prompted me to file a price protection claim with my credit card.i will not purchase anything from these folks again - there are better ways to do business.

  2. I bought an 8K home standby generator from Electric Generators Direct and was talked into buying a cold weather kit for $269.00. I live in southwestern Ohio where we have cold winters with varying amounts of snow so I bought it. I was later told by my electrician that in his opinion this was unnecessary since he has installed many generators and never installed a cold weather kit and no one has ever complained of them not working. When I tried to return this they would not take it back because they have a FIRM 30 day return policy. I admit that I was way past 30 days but that was due to the fact that first frigid temperatures and snow prevented the installation of my generator, followed by spring rains which delayed the trenching necessary for installation. Then to add insult to injury, my electrician cannot figure out how to connect it. They play by the book without any feelings for the customer left holding the bag.

Having now taken two days off work to receive my new whole house generator I have just been told that "the truck doesn't fit down the driveway and we only do curbside delivery anyway" ..strangely FEDEX UPS and last week BestBuy (with a tail lift truck and a dishwasher) all deliver regularly..so I called Electric Generators Direct and they said "you agreed to curb side delivery when you bought this and if you want to send it back it will be $500" ... so I just checked.. I went through the purchase flow on their website and there's nothing in that flow that says anything other than it will be delivered to your address..so not only are they not helpful they are also not telling the truth. The customer rep was also really rude and surly just for additional annoyance. Of course I will dispute this with my credit card company and I'm sure I will not pay the return fee, but a word from the wise..there's no real saving with these cowboys..just go to your local big box, Home Depot/Costco or ...
