Clear your browsing history to delete the following information from Google Chrome and your computer:
- URLs of webpages you visited, listed on the History page
- Cached text of those webpages
- Snapshots of those webpages for thumbnails that appear on the New Tab page
- IP addresses pre-fetched from those webpages
It doesn't clear cookies or your download history.
Clear history for a specific day
Follow these steps:
- Click the wrench menu
. - Select History.
- Click Delete history for this day for the day you want to clear.
Clear history for a longer period of time
Follow these steps:
- Click the wrench menu.
- Select Clear browsing data.
- In the Clear Browsing Data dialog box, select the 'Clear browsing history' checkbox.
By default, Google Chrome clears your entire history. If you want to clear your history from a shorter period of time, select another period in the 'Clear data from this period' drop-down menu.
- Click Clear Browsing Data.
Clear history from your address bar
To prevent matches to your browsing history from appearing in the address bar, follow the steps above to clear your entire browsing history.
Text from secure websites are never recorded in your browsing history. To prevent other websites from being recorded in your browsing history, use Google Chrome's incognito mode. You can't disable your browsing history in standard mode.
