Google Chrome Help

Additional settings: 'Oops! This link appears broken.'

Google Chrome shows suggestions for similar webpages when the page you're trying to open can't be found. If you find a broken link, instead of a blank 404 page, you should see suggestions to navigate to other parts of the website or search for the page with Google.

Why can't I see my webpage?

Often the webpage can't be found because it's down temporarily. To check if this is the issue, try opening the page in other browsers, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer.

If you're able to see the page in other browsers, there may be a problem with how Google Chrome is connecting to the Internet. Here are some tips for fixing the connection issue:

  • Clear your cache and cookies (see instructions)
  • Scan your computer for malicious software.

Enable or disable suggestions on navigation errors

Suggestions for navigation error are enabled by default. Follow these steps to turn the feature off:

  1. Click the wrench menu Chrome Tools menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Click the Under the Hood tab and find the 'Privacy' section.
  4. Deselect the 'Show suggestions for navigation errors' checkbox.
  5. Click Close.

The browser sends Google the URL of the page you're trying to reach in order to offer you suggestions of alternative or similar webpages.
