Manage your bookmarks: Create bookmarks

Chances are you visit some webpages on a regular basis. Consider creating bookmarks for these pages, which places buttons for the pages on the bookmarks bar. Click the bookmarks on the bar to bring up the pages.

Click the star to create a bookmark

The easiest way to create a bookmark for the page you're on is to click the star icon star icon next to the address bar. A bubble confirming the addition of the bookmark appears.

  • Edit the bookmark's name in the Name field.
  • By default, the bookmark is filed in the bookmark folder that was most recently used. Use the Folder drop-down menu to choose where you want to store the bookmark. Learn more about managing bookmarks.
  • Undo the addition of the bookmark by clicking Remove. Learn more about deleting bookmarks.
  • If you want to change the bookmark's URL, click Edit. Other, click Close to add the bookmark.

Other ways to create bookmarks

Manually add a bookmark

Follow these steps to manually enter the web address for the bookmark you want to create:

  1. Click the wrench menu wrench menu.
  2. Select Bookmark manager.
  3. Click the folder on the left where your bookmark should be stored.
  4. Click the Organize menu.
  5. Select Add page.
  6. Enter a name for your bookmark and its URL in the Edit Bookmark dialog.
  7. Select the appropriate location for the new bookmark in the folder list.
  8. Click OK.

Drag a link to the bookmarks bar

You can quickly create a bookmark for any link on your current page by clicking and dragging it to the bookmarks bar.

Import bookmarks from other browsers

You can export bookmarks from other browsers as HTML files and import them into Google Chrome.
